      @@MakersGonnaLearn , dude this happens all the time. You have to adjust each layer. Some of us use a different press. If you cut each layer and put your first layer it will shrink! I put my first layer down and press 2-3 seconds just to tac it.

    Tanner, I just want to say that your videos and cheerfulness have brought such joy to my life recently. I am a COVID RN, and throughout this dark time I needed to find a hobby that worked for me. I decided to splurge on a cricut, and I am so thankful I did. After a shift I watch your videos and decompress with crafts. This is just the start for me, but I have already learned how to make cups and T-shirts. I cannot wait to learn more. You truly are a joy and inspiration to us all. I would give anything to have live classes with you, my mom and I love your ideas and channel!

      Your Cricut will do it all for you! It will say how many layers your image is and tell you “Prepare the 1st mat” when you hit “Make it” and the will just cut them later at a time for you. When your done with your first layer cut it will say to prepare you 2nd layer and so forth. Just make sure your image is in separate colors on Design Space so Cricut will know you want separate colors. That’s what I’ve gathered so far anyway lol

  • @jenniferallred7248

    Quick question...I watched a different UA-camr using a Cricut Design Space and she discussed colors and even showed it on her computer on the right hand side. Mine doesn’t show the colored dots next to images or lettering. I use a laptop. How do I find it or why isn’t it showing on mine? I’d love to do layering, but I can’t because I can’t group separate images.

      You can change colors if your SVG is had different layers. If not, you can duplicate and contour out your design to make different layers different colors :)

    You really explained how to transfer the images, but hoe did you design all these cutouts? What's the difference between vinyl & HTV? What exactly is HTV? Please excuse my ignorance, but I just received my very first Cricut Explorer Air 2 for Christmas and want to do this process. Is all vinyl & HTV material accessible for tee shirts or sweatshirts? Besides Cricut materials, what other materials are just as good, but cost effective? Can an iron, do just as well as the heat press?

    Thank you for this awesome video. Quick question... the recommended time for pressing is 30 seconds, so heating multiple layers for 30 seconds each doesn't damage the bottom layers of vinyl which end of receiving longer periods of heat?

  • @DollsandEverythingElse

    • @MakersGonnaLearn
      @MakersGonnaLearn  4 роки тому +3

      GREAT question! The hottest setting should be used :) it's very hard to "burn" HTV but if it's not heated all the way through, that would be bad. Hope this helps! Happy crafting!

  • @juanmendez3212
    @juanmendez3212 2 роки тому

    So you just ruin the integrity of the vinyl layers before the others by going the full 30 seconds. There’s a reason why they say diff times so you don’t run the adhesive that books to the fabric.

    • @MakersGonnaLearn

      If you can, please invest in an EasyPress. You cannot properly Iron-On things with a household iron. They do not have even heating, and you never know how hot they can get. Even if your transfer doesn't melt, the HTV will not stick on your shirt as well as it would with an EasyPress.

    I did layered HTV on wood and my vinyl melted as I put on each layer. I used a teflon sheet over the entire design. I unfortunately had to use an iron because I don't yet have a heat press. How could I have avoided the melting?

    • @MakersGonnaLearn
      @MakersGonnaLearn  4 роки тому

      It's not a great idea to layer HTV on wood. Also, you need to invest in an EasyPress, like the EasyPress Mini! Regular household irons do not work well with HTV. They have such uneven heat distribution, you never know which part of the design is heated/adhered properly because of this. Also you never know what temperature your Iron is actually at, making it hard to properly adhere your design. We HIGHLY recommend getting a Cricut EasyPress Mini: amzn.to/2zvjW9D for all of your HTV projects :)

    Thank you for this video! I was worried doing 30 secs per layer was too much but it wouldn’t stick when I did 15 secs. I had 7 layers too lol. I’ve also used parchment paper to protect the previous vinyl layers! My only regret is using a tshirt board when applying the vinyl. The cracks/creases in the board show through the vinyl 😭

    if you use Siser Easy Weed, you'll only heat each layer for 15 seconds correct ?

    • @MakersGonnaLearn
      @MakersGonnaLearn  4 роки тому

      Nope, you can heat each layer for the regular amount of time :) It's very hard to burn HTV.

    Can heat vinyl be layered ON TOP of other heat vinyl? As in a Panda. I layered the white on the black but the white won't stick. Can you tell me how to do this? Thanks!

      yes, it can! :)

      I figured it out. The white can only be pressed for a couple seconds on top of the first layer.

      Did you layer htv on htv? If so how did you do it successfully? Have you used sports flex or glitter with layering?

      @@jessieann3871 Not sure if you’re asking me or the creator of this UA-cam but I just used HTV I think you can do glitter vinyl you just can’t press it for very long.

    I always use a teflon sheet when doing any vinyl iron on. It makes it so easy and doesn't stick at all!

      Makers Gonna Learn thanks for you quick response! Do you think it’ll be a strong enough adherence to become a pocket? I’m planning on cutting the pocket, say 5x5 and I’ll cut another piece of upholstery vinyl that’s 4x4, stick that on and then stick the 5x5 perimeter to the bigger piece that the pocket goes on. Will it be strong enough?
