I can see your point. Bellara has several question marks around her and that's what makes it interesting. However I am really hoping that Bioware doesn't choose to make another mage betray Rook. That seems to be a common theme. I'm going to expect to see the executors represented in the game. They did a lot of work to point out the existence of that group. If she's the betrayer, I might have to play a few more times just to see how I feel about each arc playing out.

I'm hoping Harding is the "main" story focused romance and that this game dives into the dwarven lore a lot. then have the next game finish it. similar to the elves and Solas in inquisition, with veilguard finishing it off.

Hi Goose. When you were drawing the lines of Bellara's weapon, lots of circles with triangles amongst and around them, it reminded me of the circulum Infiniti's from the anime, which is an ancient Tevinter artifact that can bring someone back to life though blood magic. The circulum Infinitis is an ouroboros, a serpent devouring it's tale, a circle (tail) devoured by a snake's (or dragon's) head (a triangle). It's also similar ito the Magrellan, from the first set of comics. When Aurelian Titus is trying to restore Tevinter through Maric's blood. The Magrellan is also an ouroboros. Symbolic of the cycle of life and death or beginning and end. A phallic symbol being devoured by a wombic symbol. Also both artifacts bridge between the fade and the waking world, or "jump" across the veil. We also know that Tevinter is built on the ruins of the Elven Empire, so why not these artefacts? Two thoughts, what if blood magic is the only way to physically pass through to the fade (magisters sidereal ritual?) Also Bellara loves ancient artefacts. What if her betrayal is that she wants the same thing as Solas, but from a different angle, restore quick and easy access to the fade for all but through an artefact using blood magic.

At minimum, Bellara has always struck me as a potential Merrill character. She's giving me that same "We should dig up the past regardless of the potential risk in order to do it" and "I know the risks, but I know what I'm doing" energy that Merrill had when it comes to Elvhen culture. When it came out that she was a mage, too, I was like "She's gonna do something to make me regret helping her, isn't she?" Seeing her potentially turn on the party just to preserve, use, or even acquire an artifact or something of relevance to the elves wouldn't surprise me all that much. Especially since her obsession with ancient elves seems like a pretty solid way to tempt her into doing something sketchy considering our adversaries in Veilguard. Now that you've pointed out her motifs that I missed, I'm going to be keeping a massive eye on her for a brand new set of reasons.

Whoa! I also think Bellara is probably the most interesting companion (and I liked her more than the others in terms of romance). Veil jumpers also seem like the most unusual faction to me hehe. This is so timely! Harding's a fan favorite *and* in the trailer; on reflection it's hard to really buy her as traitor. So I recently thought, "if not Harding, who?" The answer came immediately with a slight chill: *Bellara.* The one everyone thinks is so happy-go-lucky and harmless. Davrin's markings could be a Mythal variant, but hers don't remind me of anything but a third eye. The Executors--and she--could even be aliens, or Titan allies. Bellara's oddly dwarf-coded for an elf, from hints in her bow/tattoo/belt. Maybe she wants to make right old wrongs? What if some of Solas's agents defected? This pushes me toward wanting to play an elven Veil Jumper mage Rook first, though SD and MW still tempt me so hard.
She is shady ngl. HOpe you'll enjoy your firsth playthrough no matter the faction you choose! It will be great to learn the origin of Davrin's tatoo. I thought that it had more similarities with June than Mythal, so the intrigue is real haha
@@ImpGoose Oh, very interesting! I do see June characteristics now that you mention it. I was looking mostly at the chin detail, and thinking partly of the DAO version. Looking at all of them more closely, I could also see Sylaise, or Ghillan'nain. It would be *so spooky* if it was Ghill! Your video on her creeped me out to no end, flipping my view of her entirely. Can you imagine having Ghillan'nain running around destroying the world with her markings on your face the whole time?! Now that I've thought of that, I hope it's so. Imagine the conversations you could have with Davrin! It would really make it hit home for even new players how the vallaslin are not just unimportant cool tattoo designs.

I have a strong feeling that The Executors are based on the other side of the Amaranthine Ocean. Lore says that there used to be a colony there but they just kinda disappeared. There’s no further detail and it’s always bothered me.
Yeah... There were also dudes with a temple that referenced the sun or..well, I don't remember it perfectly well at the moment but there were some ideas of others worshipping Elgar'nan. Soooo... maybe we will be surprised in this game and learn more about those across the sea!
i wanna know if we can get a gauntlet. build our own? steal hers? be a fist-fightin' mage? the gauntlet also really makes me think we'll get to choose some cool prosthetic for our inquisitor.

Right now I’m perfectly undecided about Bellara’s story/arc or what it may be, but I’m eager to discover it. It’s highly likely Veil Jumpers will be my first faction so my interest is even greater. As far as The Executors go: I would LOVE to see their influence in DAV. Fingers crossed. 🤞🏼

This is a very interesting deep dive on the character, you showed things I would have never even looked for. I really like the artists perspective with these types of videos. With that being said, I am someone who loves learning about ancient history, lore, ancient secrets, myths etc. Regardless of if Bellara ends up betraying me or not, she is going to be my first romance or even just my closest friendship. I think its just because I can relate to her passion (from what I know of the information we have been given, so far).

Thing is- pretty much everyone agrees thats she's really suspicious. Even without looking too deeply into her character design- if she does end up being the betrayer, i think most people will say they saw it coming. If someone else is the traitor- they'll say she was an obvious red herring. But im hoping its her, because the only other apostate is harding- and ive waited too long for her to turn on me😅

Admittedly I wasn't immediately sold on the presumption that she was dalish, like I can see Davrrin having just a different region specific visual language to his vallaslin but hers was just too different. People automatically started saying she was so I thought maybe I could be overthinking it but I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought so lol

I always thought that Bellara had a whimsical yet eccentric look about her. I can definitely see her being a member of the executors.She could even be one of the many daughters of Flemeth. When I saw the first initial companion trailer and gameplay. I suspect that she may even be in service to Ghilan'nain. Even though her Vallaslin looks different from the other Ghilan'nain design. One thing for sure is that there is definitely something off about Bellara. I love the bingo card you made for us to use and play around with. 😄🙏🏾💚

She's got very odd hair, strange clothes, vallaslin we've never seen, a totally wild-looking bow... all of this on top of being the first Asian-inspired character I can recall seeing in Dragon Age. That's a significant lore detail! And it might be a clue, since--yup, found a Gaider quote: there are "no Asian cultures on the continent of Thedas."
You're actually getting me a little bit excited here. I just re-read Tevinter Nights a couple of days ago, and that story stuck out to me. Now, we've got to hope that the people who wrote Bellara are as insightful and creative as you! (And I'm still not over the fact that they thought it was a good idea to introduce an Asian-looking female character getting grabbed by tentacles! Like, either that was done on purpose, as some kind of stupid joke--very low-hanging fruit where jokes are concerned--or, well, ... I actually don't know. What were they thinking??!)
I wonder if Bellara fits the trope of a scientist or researcher that has lost sight of their humanity. Like we meet her already going further than the other Veiljumpers in her interests. Obsession overruling common sense. Her character arc could reflect the early years of Ghilan'nain and we might have to keep Bellara from following in Ghil's footsteps with being willing to sacrifice to further her goals. Maybe all companions are able to betray Rook in some way. Like if you would antagonize them or not help them at all in their arcs that they sabotage your connection with their faction in some way later on.. Also, about the Executor's symbol; the Fade in Solas' murals is portrayed with downward triangles, and magic with flowing lines. We see the waves in the mural that depicts the death of a titan, with one circle having vertical red waves and one having horizontal blue ones (if memory serves me right). So maybe the Executors are looking into red Lyrium, a cure for the Taint, or something else to do with the Fade/magic.
To expand on the thought of all companions being able to betray; Taash is a mercenary working for pirates. If we don't give her enough reason to work with us, she might turn to a better paying one. Neve is focussed on the Shadow Dragons. If we don't help her, she might have to make a decision that saves slaves but damages the mission of the Veilguard. Bellara would have the option to discover, unlock or protect some ancient elven thing and go against us if we are not on good terms. Lucanis had been raised to become First Talon, even though he doesn't want the position. He also had to fake his own death and seems to have gotten some weird power. We also know a lot of the Talons got betrayed and murdered. He might choose family over us at some point. Emmrich is devoted to caring for the departed. Maybe he has an old lover or child that died and whose spirit he needs to protect, going against our plans. Harding is loyal to the Inquisition. What if our path takes us away from the orders from the Inquisitor and Harding has to choose, loyalty or our beliefs? Davrin is a Warden and has a young griffon. Griffons are nearly extinct and Warden die young due to the Calling or the Taint. What if there is a promise for a cure, but he has to betray us to get it? Or maybe he betrays us in the war the Wardens are fighting if we allign ourselves with the oposing force. Anyone could betray us at any point. The devs had already told us their own missions and character arcs are more important to them than ever. They don't just linger around waiting for us, their questlines continue even if we ignore them. Meaning if we ignore them it could end up biting us in the ass. Companions need to be interacted with to level them as well. So I assume not helping them means they are forced to take matters into their own hands and turn to desperate measures.

I think Bellara is more wrapped up in the Forgotten Ones. I see them showing up at the end of the game possibly and that could be a betrayal. There's always a betrayal in DA games so I wouldn't be surprised, but rn I don't think it's her. I got more of a feeling from Lucanis. I think Tragic Genus, Dark past, unusual skill set, unorthodox thinker and big red Herring. Also she's not the only one with a mixed class set. Don't forget Lucanis and Harding! Looks like we're getting a lot of rogue/mages this time!

I really appreciate this video because up until this point, I really didn't like Bellara for some reason. She just gave me the impression of being annoyingly nice and chirpy and to me her aesthetic seems out of place. But now with her potential association with Executors and her maybe being a bit darker, I am genuinely interested in this character. Could the Executors be ancient elves or a sect of elves that are in service to the Forgotten Ones. It could explain her unknown Vallaslin and explain why Solas is afraid of them or is at least cautious of them.

You can't trust the veil jumpers as you mentioned. Also you can't trust most of the other factions. The Crows are assassins and worse. The Lords of Fortune are mercenaries that will flip sides to wherever the money and opportunity for power is better. The Mourn Watch are potential allies only as far as your interests align with theirs. The Greyspawn immediately abandoned Thedas for an obviously evil Tevinter cult to build a demon army. The greyspawn were responsible for unleashing a blighted protodarkspawn magister and absolutely abandoned Thedas when they should have helped. Not to mention their help in killing the former Divine. I only really trust the Shadow Dragons and The Inquisition. I'll be refusing assistance from the Veil Jumpers and the Grey Spawn.
It also looks like Bellara has old/faded vallaslin (a design of Andruil perhaps?) that she has inked over with a new, non-traditional design. I find that very curious considering her obsession with uncovering the secrets of the ancient Elves and what she may have uncovered about the gods/Evanuris by the start of DA:V.

Full disclosure? I woke up to the notification for this video. It was certainly nice to have that happen for a change! I actually hope your theory about Bellara is correct! I’m not trying to engage in any form of politics here, but there have been no Asian or Asian-inspired people in Dragon Age until now, that’s fact. Retcons can be a funny business; that being said, we know absolutely nothing about the people who could be across the Amaranthine Ocean. This would be an excellent way to incorporate everyone in a way that doesn’t break the story. (I hope she’s not the traitor though, there’s an excellent chance she’ll be my romantic interest in my first playthrough!) Here’s another thought! The kossith, according to one theory, came from somewhere across the ocean. Nobody knows where they came from or why they left! I wonder if their exodus has something to do with the Executors. Then again, I recall Corypheus said the Iron Bull’s people were ‘a mistake’, before the Inquisitor took his ability to speak, and his jaw, with it! 😁 (My oh my. Am I having a case of "Mandela Effect" or was Bellara first mentioned to be a rouge? I'm interested in Veil Jumpers but hope Bellara is not the "Manic Pixie Girl", that trope has been done to death, that her vibe gives off.
There was a wrong representation because reporters followed the obvious logic "bow = rogue" and it took some time until Bioware shared the info that Bellara is actually a mage. The whole marketing campaign was messed up. Yeah, I hope so too. She was described as "bubbly." It fits into a "tragic genius" character arc as she might suffer from social awkwardness and compensate it with being chirpy without a reason. Manic pixies can rest 🤣 No one will join their ranks with this kind of baggage
@@ImpGoose I actually think that by the end of the game all Comps will be magic in some way, with the state of the Veil and the Devs saying Harding, A Dwarf, is showing magical abilities I think that magic is becoming more prominent and more like the times of the Ancient Elves, where everyone was a mage.
Unfortunately Dragon Age Veilguard will have to handle magic in a thoughtful way after Brandon Sanderson came out with 'The Laws of Magic' and also all the medieval experts that have redefined how we see a medieval world. It's also interesting how Dragon Age handled dragon fights that influenced Elder Scrolls Online s dragon world boss battles.

Im romancing her unless shes super annoying in game, I am prepared to be hurt though as ive avoided all the problematic ships in my first runs of each game previously.

Well it would be interesting to make bellara a traitor i don't think bioware would do that. My reasoning being i don't think they'd make the one armed female asian elf a traitor unless they wanna get racked over coals by so called dragin age fans on twitter and reddit.

They made Vivienne, the first female black character to be inspired in Maleficent, a villain, and she is really hated in the community even though I love her. So I dont think what youre saying applies to DA. They also made it really easy to get diaapproval with her and impossible to romance her, they didnt tried to make her sympathetic, on the contrary, I think they kinda wanted to make Viv be this character knowing alot of people would hate on her. She provoke the Inquisitor with low approval moving his furniture around or making some comments that makes people angry

Yikes. Had to stop the video just to comment on her earring on one side and not the other. THE SIDE SHE DRAWS HER BOW BACK TO. To me, that's just bad character design to have a long, super tangly looking earring, and then constantly be drawing your weapon back on that side. Realistically, it's a miracle she hasn't ripped her own ear off. This could easily have been fixed by putting the earring or her drawing preference on the other side.

Dalish have surnames. The Dalish Warden has a different surname than their clan. And there have been East Asian characters before (a minor Orlesian NPC in Denerim in DAO and Sutherland in DAI). The dev team is probably simply introducing more diversity and demographics they have previously overlooked (or were harder to accurately depict with limited graphics and character models). Bringing up her race is a bit in bad taste. There doesn’t need to be an explanation since various phenotypes weren’t neatly associated with specific regions before and Thedas is a fantasy world that has to adhere to our world’s conceptions of race. There can simply be a greater variation of phenotypes in a smaller area than in the real world. No logical heaps there. Her vallaslin is dedicated to Dirthamen (confirmed by John Epler, her writer). The third eye is symbolic of seeking hidden knowledge, which is one of Dirthamen’s domains. The intricacy of the design probably reflects her creativity which has been emphasised by the writers.

Maybe it’s more of an iron bull situation. Where depending on the choices you’ve made she might betray you or she might turn her back on her faction.

Hi Goose. When you were drawing the lines of Bellara's weapon, lots of circles with triangles amongst and around them, it reminded me of the circulum Infiniti's from the anime, which is an ancient Tevinter artifact that can bring someone back to life though blood magic. The circulum Infinitis is an ouroboros, a serpent devouring it's tale, a circle (tail) devoured by a snake's (or dragon's) head (a triangle). It's also similar ito the Magrellan, from the first set of comics. When Aurelian Titus is trying to restore Tevinter through Maric's blood. The Magrellan is also an ouroboros. Symbolic of the cycle of life and death or beginning and end. A phallic symbol being devoured by a wombic symbol. Also both artifacts bridge between the fade and the waking world, or "jump" across the veil. We also know that Tevinter is built on the ruins of the Elven Empire, so why not these artefacts? Two thoughts, what if blood magic is the only way to physically pass through to the fade (magisters sidereal ritual?) Also Bellara loves ancient artefacts. What if her betrayal is that she wants the same thing as Solas, but from a different angle, restore quick and easy access to the fade for all but through an artefact using blood magic.

At minimum, Bellara has always struck me as a potential Merrill character. She's giving me that same "We should dig up the past regardless of the potential risk in order to do it" and "I know the risks, but I know what I'm doing" energy that Merrill had when it comes to Elvhen culture. When it came out that she was a mage, too, I was like "She's gonna do something to make me regret helping her, isn't she?" Seeing her potentially turn on the party just to preserve, use, or even acquire an artifact or something of relevance to the elves wouldn't surprise me all that much. Especially since her obsession with ancient elves seems like a pretty solid way to tempt her into doing something sketchy considering our adversaries in Veilguard. Now that you've pointed out her motifs that I missed, I'm going to be keeping a massive eye on her for a brand new set of reasons.

Whoa! I also think Bellara is probably the most interesting companion (and I liked her more than the others in terms of romance). Veil jumpers also seem like the most unusual faction to me hehe. This is so timely! Harding's a fan favorite *and* in the trailer; on reflection it's hard to really buy her as traitor. So I recently thought, "if not Harding, who?" The answer came immediately with a slight chill: *Bellara.* The one everyone thinks is so happy-go-lucky and harmless. Davrin's markings could be a Mythal variant, but hers don't remind me of anything but a third eye. The Executors--and she--could even be aliens, or Titan allies. Bellara's oddly dwarf-coded for an elf, from hints in her bow/tattoo/belt. Maybe she wants to make right old wrongs? What if some of Solas's agents defected? This pushes me toward wanting to play an elven Veil Jumper mage Rook first, though SD and MW still tempt me so hard.
She is shady ngl. HOpe you'll enjoy your firsth playthrough no matter the faction you choose!
It will be great to learn the origin of Davrin's tatoo. I thought that it had more similarities with June than Mythal, so the intrigue is real haha
@@ImpGoose Oh, very interesting! I do see June characteristics now that you mention it. I was looking mostly at the chin detail, and thinking partly of the DAO version. Looking at all of them more closely, I could also see Sylaise, or Ghillan'nain. It would be *so spooky* if it was Ghill! Your video on her creeped me out to no end, flipping my view of her entirely. Can you imagine having Ghillan'nain running around destroying the world with her markings on your face the whole time?! Now that I've thought of that, I hope it's so. Imagine the conversations you could have with Davrin! It would really make it hit home for even new players how the vallaslin are not just unimportant cool tattoo designs.

I have a strong feeling that The Executors are based on the other side of the Amaranthine Ocean. Lore says that there used to be a colony there but they just kinda disappeared. There’s no further detail and it’s always bothered me.
Yeah... There were also dudes with a temple that referenced the sun or..well, I don't remember it perfectly well at the moment but there were some ideas of others worshipping Elgar'nan. Soooo... maybe we will be surprised in this game and learn more about those across the sea!

This is a very interesting deep dive on the character, you showed things I would have never even looked for. I really like the artists perspective with these types of videos.
With that being said, I am someone who loves learning about ancient history, lore, ancient secrets, myths etc. Regardless of if Bellara ends up betraying me or not, she is going to be my first romance or even just my closest friendship. I think its just because I can relate to her passion (from what I know of the information we have been given, so far).

Thing is- pretty much everyone agrees thats she's really suspicious. Even without looking too deeply into her character design- if she does end up being the betrayer, i think most people will say they saw it coming. If someone else is the traitor- they'll say she was an obvious red herring.

Davrin is fine choice, considering he shares writer with Garrus Vakarian. Something tells me he have potential to be fandom's darling.
Admittedly I wasn't immediately sold on the presumption that she was dalish, like I can see Davrrin having just a different region specific visual language to his vallaslin but hers was just too different. People automatically started saying she was so I thought maybe I could be overthinking it but I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought so lol

I always thought that Bellara had a whimsical yet eccentric look about her. I can definitely see her being a member of the executors.She could even be one of the many daughters of Flemeth.
When I saw the first initial companion trailer and gameplay. I suspect that she may even be in service to Ghilan'nain. Even though her Vallaslin looks different from the other Ghilan'nain design.
One thing for sure is that there is definitely something off about Bellara.

You're actually getting me a little bit excited here. I just re-read Tevinter Nights a couple of days ago, and that story stuck out to me. Now, we've got to hope that the people who wrote Bellara are as insightful and creative as you!

Like, either that was done on purpose, as some kind of stupid joke--very low-hanging fruit where jokes are concerned--or, well, ... I actually don't know. What were they thinking??!)

I wonder if Bellara fits the trope of a scientist or researcher that has lost sight of their humanity. Like we meet her already going further than the other Veiljumpers in her interests. Obsession overruling common sense. Her character arc could reflect the early years of Ghilan'nain and we might have to keep Bellara from following in Ghil's footsteps with being willing to sacrifice to further her goals.
Maybe all companions are able to betray Rook in some way. Like if you would antagonize them or not help them at all in their arcs that they sabotage your connection with their faction in some way later on..
Also, about the Executor's symbol; the Fade in Solas' murals is portrayed with downward triangles, and magic with flowing lines. We see the waves in the mural that depicts the death of a titan, with one circle having vertical red waves and one having horizontal blue ones (if memory serves me right). So maybe the Executors are looking into red Lyrium, a cure for the Taint, or something else to do with the Fade/magic.
To expand on the thought of all companions being able to betray;
Taash is a mercenary working for pirates. If we don't give her enough reason to work with us, she might turn to a better paying one.
Neve is focussed on the Shadow Dragons. If we don't help her, she might have to make a decision that saves slaves but damages the mission of the Veilguard.
Bellara would have the option to discover, unlock or protect some ancient elven thing and go against us if we are not on good terms.
Lucanis had been raised to become First Talon, even though he doesn't want the position. He also had to fake his own death and seems to have gotten some weird power. We also know a lot of the Talons got betrayed and murdered. He might choose family over us at some point.
Emmrich is devoted to caring for the departed. Maybe he has an old lover or child that died and whose spirit he needs to protect, going against our plans.
Harding is loyal to the Inquisition. What if our path takes us away from the orders from the Inquisitor and Harding has to choose, loyalty or our beliefs?
Davrin is a Warden and has a young griffon. Griffons are nearly extinct and Warden die young due to the Calling or the Taint. What if there is a promise for a cure, but he has to betray us to get it? Or maybe he betrays us in the war the Wardens are fighting if we allign ourselves with the oposing force.
Anyone could betray us at any point. The devs had already told us their own missions and character arcs are more important to them than ever. They don't just linger around waiting for us, their questlines continue even if we ignore them. Meaning if we ignore them it could end up biting us in the ass. Companions need to be interacted with to level them as well. So I assume not helping them means they are forced to take matters into their own hands and turn to desperate measures.
And lastly; Solas is always manipulating. So it is a no brainer that he might betray everyone, again.
These theories are amazing 🤩 Thanks for sharing them! I haven't thought about the path connection between Bellara and Ghil. It's brilliant and will work out really nice for her story and the whole plot.

I think Bellara is more wrapped up in the Forgotten Ones. I see them showing up at the end of the game possibly and that could be a betrayal. There's always a betrayal in DA games so I wouldn't be surprised, but rn I don't think it's her. I got more of a feeling from Lucanis. I think Tragic Genus, Dark past, unusual skill set, unorthodox thinker and big red Herring. Also she's not the only one with a mixed class set. Don't forget Lucanis and Harding! Looks like we're getting a lot of rogue/mages this time!

I really appreciate this video because up until this point, I really didn't like Bellara for some reason. She just gave me the impression of being annoyingly nice and chirpy and to me her aesthetic seems out of place. But now with her potential association with Executors and her maybe being a bit darker, I am genuinely interested in this character. Could the Executors be ancient elves or a sect of elves that are in service to the Forgotten Ones. It could explain her unknown Vallaslin and explain why Solas is afraid of them or is at least cautious of them.

You can't trust the veil jumpers as you mentioned.
Also you can't trust most of the other factions.
The Crows are assassins and worse.
The Lords of Fortune are mercenaries that will flip sides to wherever the money and opportunity for power is better.
The Mourn Watch are potential allies only as far as your interests align with theirs.
The Greyspawn immediately abandoned Thedas for an obviously evil Tevinter cult to build a demon army. The greyspawn were responsible for unleashing a blighted protodarkspawn magister and absolutely abandoned Thedas when they should have helped. Not to mention their help in killing the former Divine.
I only really trust the Shadow Dragons and The Inquisition.
I'll be refusing assistance from the Veil Jumpers and the Grey Spawn.

It also looks like Bellara has old/faded vallaslin (a design of Andruil perhaps?) that she has inked over with a new, non-traditional design. I find that very curious considering her obsession with uncovering the secrets of the ancient Elves and what she may have uncovered about the gods/Evanuris by the start of DA:V.

I actually hope your theory about Bellara is correct! I’m not trying to engage in any form of politics here, but there have been no Asian or Asian-inspired people in Dragon Age until now, that’s fact. Retcons can be a funny business; that being said, we know absolutely nothing about the people who could be across the Amaranthine Ocean. This would be an excellent way to incorporate everyone in a way that doesn’t break the story. (I hope she’s not the traitor though, there’s an excellent chance she’ll be my romantic interest in my first playthrough!)
Here’s another thought! The kossith, according to one theory, came from somewhere across the ocean. Nobody knows where they came from or why they left! I wonder if their exodus has something to do with the Executors. Then again, I recall Corypheus said the Iron Bull’s people were ‘a mistake’, before the Inquisitor took his ability to speak, and his jaw, with it! 😁

I'm interested in Veil Jumpers but hope Bellara is not the "Manic Pixie Girl", that trope has been done to death, that her vibe gives off.
There was a wrong representation because reporters followed the obvious logic "bow = rogue" and it took some time until Bioware shared the info that Bellara is actually a mage. The whole marketing campaign was messed up.
Yeah, I hope so too. She was described as "bubbly." It fits into a "tragic genius" character arc as she might suffer from social awkwardness and compensate it with being chirpy without a reason. Manic pixies can rest 🤣 No one will join their ranks with this kind of baggage
@@ImpGoose I actually think that by the end of the game all Comps will be magic in some way, with the state of the Veil and the Devs saying Harding, A Dwarf, is showing magical abilities I think that magic is becoming more prominent and more like the times of the Ancient Elves, where everyone was a mage.
Unfortunately Dragon Age Veilguard will have to handle magic in a thoughtful way after Brandon Sanderson came out with 'The Laws of Magic' and also all the medieval experts that have redefined how we see a medieval world.
It's also interesting how Dragon Age handled dragon fights that influenced Elder Scrolls Online s dragon world boss battles.

They made Vivienne, the first female black character to be inspired in Maleficent, a villain, and she is really hated in the community even though I love her. So I dont think what youre saying applies to DA. They also made it really easy to get diaapproval with her and impossible to romance her, they didnt tried to make her sympathetic, on the contrary, I think they kinda wanted to make Viv be this character knowing alot of people would hate on her. She provoke the Inquisitor with low approval moving his furniture around or making some comments that makes people angry

Yikes. Had to stop the video just to comment on her earring on one side and not the other. THE SIDE SHE DRAWS HER BOW BACK TO. To me, that's just bad character design to have a long, super tangly looking earring, and then constantly be drawing your weapon back on that side. Realistically, it's a miracle she hasn't ripped her own ear off.
This could easily have been fixed by putting the earring or her drawing preference on the other side.

Dalish have surnames. The Dalish Warden has a different surname than their clan. And there have been East Asian characters before (a minor Orlesian NPC in Denerim in DAO and Sutherland in DAI). The dev team is probably simply introducing more diversity and demographics they have previously overlooked (or were harder to accurately depict with limited graphics and character models). Bringing up her race is a bit in bad taste. There can simply be a greater variation of phenotypes in a smaller area than in the real world. No logical heaps there.
Her vallaslin is dedicated to Dirthamen (confirmed by John Epler, her writer). The third eye is symbolic of seeking hidden knowledge, which is one of Dirthamen’s domains. The intricacy of the design probably reflects her creativity which has been emphasised by the writers.
