  • BEWARE: Lots of rambling jabbering in this video! I have no one else to talk to, the cats are ignoring me today, so YOU folks are the lucky ones being talked at!! :)
When the kitten allows, at the end of each of my cleaning videos you see me checking jobs off of my lists. In this video, I explain my different lists, how they're keeping me on track, and how they motivate me. The cats are on strike today, so no cleaning or cats in this one, sorry. But the next video will be well worth the wait!!

Good enough, is good enough for now. I like that. Perfectionist tendencies cause me to do nothing as well. The need to make it perfect stops me from doing anything at all. So, I'm going to remember your words.

Your words are giving me a really up-beat day. Thank you for that. And that's my problem. I'll spend 3 hours making one drawer perfect, when the rest of the house requires shoes and gloves to meet safety standards. Doesn't work. lol I hope I'm able to motivate us both! Thanks, again, for watching!

yep i'm the same. I've started doing affirmations in the morning now 'done is more important than perfect' to try and drum into my head that perfectionism has its place but that place is not with its fat ass sat right in the middle of my path! it has worked a bit actually! I see you like being a bit creative with your to-do list..check out bullet journals - you might enjoy doing one! :)

You are a very intelligent, perfectionist with bouts of depression. Take it from me, that is a recipe for disaster. Perfectionism leads to procrastination. I can't get that task done because I need to do this and that first. What I witnessed in these videos is not just a lady cleaning. I witnessed psychological warfare at its finest. You battling with yourself every swipe of the dish rag. It was awesome to be honest. Keep it up. You are an inspiration

Today, I found you. I have Depression/Anxiety and I am on medication. I also have chronic pain in most of my body. I just LOVE you! As I binge watched your videos for over 3 hours, I finally got off of my "sore" butt, and cleaned my kitchen. I took many breaks, but it is finally done. I am going to use your videos for my inspiration to clean up my life. You are amazing! Thank you so much for your determination to keep trying. I also found a tip online that I can share with you. For my furniture, I tried using gardening gloves with textured rubber on the palms to wipe the cat hair off of the furniture. I found that it is less tiring than trying to get it off with lint brushes and/or the vacuum cleaner. And every speck of hair comes right off! Keep being you! You're
smart, beautiful, and the most genuinely warm person on UA-cam. Thank-you!

I just found you today. I'm really looking forward to seeing many, many more(hopefully) :) You remind me of myself in a lot of ways. I also have an illness plus I try to take care of my chronically ill husband, sigh. Some days I'm just too tired and unmotivated. Things can very quickly get out of hand. I tend to do 30-45 mins then sit and watch a vid or something before going back to it. TY for putting this out there and helping motivate me. I'm never motivated by watching 20 year olds with endless energy clean already spotless homes.

I'm working hard on the next room. It just takes me awhile to do the actual work. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

being a perfectionist, ironically, is a lot of what paralyzes us. we're overwhelmed by the size and scope of a task when the end goal is 'perfection'. ditching the 'perfect' is the key.

I am a frustrated perfectionist and self described lazy ass who can't start anything for fear of failure or not being able to complete it perfectly. I can live in chaos but I really prefer it clean and orderly. I'm glad I found you this morning. You inspire and motivate me. Also, I live with two kitties in 900 square feet. Cat hair everywhere! Love my swiffer floor duster. Keep the vids coming! I think they will help me overcome whatever is blocking me from becoming who I am meant to be.

  • @i2ndsight

I love your handwriting. I am only able to print. I sure know what it is like to have health issues that throw your home into chaos. My knee broke in January and was replaced in April of 2016. In April we found out we had to leave our apartment where I had lived nearly a decade and Marty had lived for 17 years. Then in late September of the same year, while packing to move, my sacrum broke. I kept packing because our deadline was approaching. We moved, I unpacked, all the while in agony and bit by bit losing the use of my left leg, which was my good leg previous to the broken sacrum. I was in so much pain that I failed to put out the year end appeal for our non-profit, probably losing a third of our program's annual income right there. I finally collapsed and then had major neurosurgery on January 6th of 2017. I have recovered most of the housework to a low scream level that is working again and getting a tiny bit cleaner every day. Now I am trying to recover my office work and get myself able to use a calendar again. I have PTSD and suffer other mental health issues causing calendar management problems. Thank you very much for posting your List notebook. I tend to use 3 x 5 cards for making lists or ideas, then I sort the cards into the best order after creating them. I would like to know more about how you kept up with your correspondence and bills while under the weather. You are very brave.

Please keep going. I can clean up and keep stuff organized, but my daughter can't. Watching you is helping me to be patient with my daughter, as I do love her dearly. But since she has moved back in with me and mostly lies around all day and night, it has been so hard to be kind and understanding. I m beginning to see that she has a problem that needs outside help as she is not using drugs, alcohol and refuses to see anyone. By sharing your struggles, means that she isn't the only one who struggles!
    Many blessings on you!

I've watched a few cleaning channels but you're the first I've found who doesnt come across as a Stepford wife type. You wear what I wear when I'm cleaning. Your house was actually dirty (no offense). Most of the channels I've watched, the women have on perfect makeup, clothes and their houses arent really dirty. If anything it looks to me like they might have tossed a few clothes or toys on the floor and thats it. I never see any real dirt, no dust, etc. Thanks for being real.

Only if it would suit you and only when you're ready, how about adding a 'Me' section to the list? That could be a hobby, or personal goal, or something self-care orientated. They could be small, simple things such as just enjoying a scented candle, or treating yourself to a new bottle of bubble bath, as well as bigger, longer term objectives. You're a lovely lady and you deserve to be treated as such.

YOU are so me; wanting things organized and perfect that you spend too much time on one thing, making lists (though i like the way you have done yours), and liking butterflies. Thanks again for your amazing videos and cat

Another great video! Not boring at all. We all need people to talk to, even if they aren't really 'there'. You are inspiring so many. Myself included. The list is wonderful. You're doing a great job. Super proud of you! Peace. ~Lisa

Great job, I've just found you too and I've seen most of your videos today. I really enjoy seeing the before and after. I'm a boarded line hoarder. I call it recycling. But I recycle more than I need. Seeing your list has given me a few ideas. Thanks for being you and Thanks even more for being the New you.

Hi. I'm almost 62 years old. My house has suddenly turned into a wreck, too. I've struggled with employment and I wouldn't admit it......depression
..until I saw your video. I theoretically 'live by myself' in a small 3 bedroom apartment in the bottom of a 2 family home in a bad part of the city. I can't afford at this time to move. Even tho I live by myself, my daughter's furniture and possessions are still here taking up muchneeded space. Between unstable full time and part time jobs, her moving an and out, arguements, and the last (cherry on top) 3rd shift job......my home is cluttered, dirty and a mess. I am struggling to get control of my home also. Thank you for sharing. It helps me. just last week, I tore out the wall to wall carpeting out of the living room; moved the furniture at, had Direct TV. installed. Now, I have pikes of everything moved to pull out the carpet. I am holding off sorting and organizing cuz I need to 'bomb' my house from attic to basement. The last tenant that lived upstairs brought in roaches. she's has been gone, the apartment has been empty for months. I have put out traps and different methods to kill them . They are minimal but I want ALL of them dead...eggs and all. So, this is what I am preparing for today so I can set off the bombs tomorrow. The 3 Rd shift job made everything worst. I stuck it out for 4 months. All I did was work, sleep or not sleep enough, then walked around in a daze. All I managed was washing dishes or clothes once in awhile. So, thank you for having the 'balls' to post your videos. I feel better. I was feeling overwhelmed. WE got this!!!

i might steal that system for my academic & life planning stuff! lists have been the only thing that enables me to do things for a while because of depression and anxiety but i like the idea of having those immediate/intermediate/long term goals & a section for 'ask for help' (something i notoriously struggle with). keep up the good work!

I'm another you are helping! After watching your kitchen video, I did 1 load of dishes, put half away (hubby did other half while I did our kids hair) and have another load of dishes from bedroom and lounge room soaking in hot bubbly water to do in half an hour or so. GRRR to my husband who cooked himself dinner and made more dishes inc. ones I had just washed haha I struggle when people have things like 'wipe down skirting boards', 'clean light switches', 'disinfect door handles', 'clean top of the fridge' down on their task list - my aim is to have the house at a standard where I'm not mortified at the thought of people dropping in and where my inlaws can come over to babysit instead of us having to take the kids to their house. Imagine being able to have a handyman come over without a week of rushed and stressed cleaning (and hiding things in bedrooms!). One day our houses WILL be at that standard and THEN we can add in one crazy task (from above) a week.

I know that while I work having a radio on and listening to music I love, really helps me along. I have to set a timer to let myself relax, or I will over-do it and then spend days in bed recovering. So, music...and a timer. And I LOVE your lists and I'm working on mine right now!

It's great that you realize when you have extended yourself and that it's time for a period of rest and recharge yourself. I think that you used your rest period very well by talking about what you need and want to do. Giving of time is the most amazing gift that anyone can give another person. The fact that your son offered to do a list of things is fabulous.

My son's gift was perfect!! Especially with my new goals and starting this channel. Thank you again!!

I hope you realize how truly inspiring you are to me (and those like me/us). Keep up the great work! You are in my prayers girl! Thanks again! Blessings...

    Hi.
THANK YOU for describing how you differentiate between the basics vs needs. As someone mentioned below, it's frustrating watching young things clean a room that is cleaner BEFORE they start than my apartment will ever be.
If I follow your lead and look at a room identifying the basics rather than EVERYTHING that needs to be done it might not seem overwhelming!
Keep up the good work and for sharing with your cheering section.

    • @mynewme8759
      @mynewme8759  7 років тому +15

I hope it helps you. It helped me. Before I'd get so overwhelmed thinking about having to clean the drawer under the oven and the inside of the trash can and and and that just clearing the counters and washing the dishes seemed pointless. And just more effort than it was worth because I was fixated on EVERYthing that was needed. Concentrating on just the basics really helped a lot. Thanks so much for watching and for commenting!!
