  • The Fix Info page in the Airbus is a feature most pilots use daily, and it is incredibly useful for difficult approaches and for raising situational awareness. The fantastic team at Fly By Wire have now added it to the A32NX, so today I take a look at it and show you how we use it.

I am a real world Airbus pilot with thousands of hours flying the real aircraft and thought it would be fun to have a look at the new detailed simulation of the longest baby 'bus by Toliss as well as the new MSFS a320 NEO. Hopefully you find this useful and it brings another perspective to your simulation. Any thoughts or comments are welcome!

Another way of using it in the FBW right now is to mark your TOD.
When you reach cruise altitude, calculate how far from the first altitude constraint on your Star or approach you need to start to descend to make the constraint and then put that distance up as a radius around the waypoint with the constraint. Obviously it works the best, if the route is relatively straight, but now you know, when you get close to the border of the circle you need to prep for the descend.

"That's all for this video. I hope it's been interesting" - of course it has! This is my single favourite source of Flight Sim A320 info. The real world context, along with presenting some functionality makes it actually stick in my head. Thank you for your amazing content, and for allowing me to be a better Sim pilot!

Great video. I'm a big fan of the fix info page. I use it to draw range rings for the kdca River visual 19 approach.

Definitely very useful. I’ve been wondering how to do this on the Toliss A319 in X-plane, and in particular how to extend the runway centre line. Going to try it out this evening! Thank you.

I really appreciate that you are a real world pilot! I am as well. I see so many want a be sim pilots that use non standard phraseology and SoP’s ( standard Operating Procedures) Me? A former 121 pilot and instructor on the A330 and the B777. And many of the Falcon Jets.
You are a breath of fresh air!😁🛫

your tutorials are amazing and have helped me a lot. may i ask if there is a way to set a fix from your current position, whether that be a waypoint or a ring? say you wanted to know when you crossed a point 30nm, from your current position, for example.

Would you do a video about the BUSS on the Toliss A340? No idea it was a feature until playing with the failures and it activated

HAve they fixed the real weather problem yet? Yesterday there was a major fault on the sim - aircraft wouldn't climb about FL260, engines throttle back with out warning

Thanks 320! Can you please explain where you got 25nm from? I can see where you got 15nm, but can’t see where you found 25nm?

    • @matprz1167

Minimum sector altitudes or terminal arrival altitudes are established for each aerodrome and provide at least 300m (1 000 ft) obstacle clearance within 46 km (25 NM) of the navigation aid, initial approach fix, or intermediate fix associated with the approach procedure for that aerodrome.

      @@matprz1167 ahhh so they’re always 25nm?

All very nice but if we're talking about situational awareness and terrain proximity then a return of the terrain radar would be higher on my list of priorities (and the weather radar as well of course).

In my 30 years of simming, I've never used the FIX info page nor ever needed it when it was available. I doubt this will change much for me.
