This year, and in a few months, is the 100th anniversary of the Russian Revolution. I myself was born in the USSR, but was lucky enough to emigrate after the fall. You should do an episode retelling that history, as I think people today very much need to hear that story of good intentions and practical realities. I would appreciate that beyond measure.
A Teddy Roosevelt episode and a segue episode about the building of the Panama Canal would be very interesting. I think your history episodes and the storytelling in them are awesome. As it becomes evident when one studies history is that a full picture only starts emerging when you also learn about the relations or conflicts a nation has had with others. As a panamanian who has been following your content for many years, I think it would be great to get your take on the long and complex relations between the US and Panama. Keep up the great work Collin!
Really appreciate the fact that you're willing to adjust the content you put out depending on viewer requests. Not many would be willing to do that. Thanks for thinking of us as a community.
I have the nickname Andrew Jackson (my coworkers are weird). But honestly knew barely anything about him. This is probably the best intro to him I could have asked for. Gunna have to check out that book. Well done, sir. Well done.
I have followed you since IGN days and beyond. I just want to say thank you for your content Colin. I am from the UK and love learning about american history from you. Your knowledge and enthusiasm is appreciated. Both the modern and historical videos have been fascinating and I now look forward to each episode. Congratulations on the success on this channel, your hard work and tenacity has paid off.
Great episode/cast! I think what you have done with your analysis of most people is you provide a juxtaposition between excellence and humanity. You are able to shine the light on the accomplishments of individuals while acknowledging how f'd up they were.
Love these historical videos! Love the more modern political ones too, but I think my favorite videos of yours are ones that kinda mix the two, like your videos taking a deeper look into what makes our country what it is, and relating it to both the past and the present, like your videos on the Third Amendment and Impeachment. Videos like those are what really set your channel apart from any other channel involving history or politics for me, I love seeing how our country's foundations and principles have taken effect through history, and are in effect in the present. And I think those kinds of topics are great for spreading a better knowledge of how politics in general work in the U.S., since it seems from what I've seen that too many people form harsh or unreasonable political opinions and judgements without understanding or having knowledge of historical events, which contribute greatly to how politics have evolved to work today. Keep up the great videos, Colin!
Great elaboration on some of the stories you touched on during your Coversation with Colin - best Presidents video from way back when. You've finally compelled me to look into him a little myself. Thank you. I think you're really hitting your stride man. Loved this video.
As someone who is from the England who studied History at school, i find your videos about American History fasinating as at school we never really learn about America. The only piece of American History i studied at school was foreign policy post world war 2. So i just wanted to say thanks colin for creating these videos as its a whole part of history that im clueless about even though it connects so closely to the history of my own country. Keep up the great work.
As someone who grew up near the Trail of Tears Park in Kentucky and now lives near the Hermitage (Jackson's home), to say he's a lightening bolt of conversation and controversy is an understatement. Thanks for sharing some of his stories--although I've heard most of them, it's great to hear the perspective of someone not "from the South".
The Republic Tea Room USA, TX That was only difficult for "Trump level intellect," most normal folks prefer not to be obviously lied to, but the rest vote Trump.
Daniel Van Orman what I wouldn't do just to enjoy whatever current idiocy your dealing with....Here in the future all the bars and casinos are closed...No sports...none...don't get me started on the toilet paper...
Thank You! Andrew Jackson is one of my favorite historical figures to read about. There's a lot to unpack when you are talking about this man. Great video!
You have a great gift for storytelling Colin and I really enjoyed the tales and anecdote's about President Jackson. Even though i'm English I very much enjoy these flat out crazy tales from across the pond (the colonies as it was once known-HAHA). Please make more of this historical based content I find it fascinating and usually ends up putting a few pounds (or mini Euro's) in Amazons coffers.
Ironically the first time I heard of Andrew Jackson was from The West Wing and Leo McGarries(probably not spelt correctly) speech on 'The Big Block of cheese'. Really enjoying your videos keep up the both entertaining and informative work.
American history from this period is literally jam-packed with interesting characters, the kind which modern Americans still revere today. Fascinating period, fascinating people. Great episode, one of my favourites so far Colin. I am currently undertaking an Archaeology degree, i really enjoy it yet it's not quite my wheelhouse, History is. I'd like to simply say thanks for this awesome content it has helped me reconnect with one of my biggest interests as my degree has distracted me from it for years. All the best man
I love how informative and entertaining these videos are. My favorite topics from the KF podcast was when you'd get serious or political, and this channel just gives me my favorite thing (: thanks for being you Colin.
I loved this video. It makes me think back to your conversation with colin discussing andrew jackson which was also very interesting. Keep up the great work!
I found this absolutely fascinating. Thanks so much! Your videos are two things I look forward to every week, and I appreciate the work you put into them!
Excellent Video, really enjoying listening to you especially when your covering topics your passionate about, your an excellent writer/speaker. Keep up the good work! Enjoying both types of topics but learning an awful lot from the historical topics as UK history classes understandably focus on European History more! Thanks.
Awesome episode man. The way you tell the stories was really entertaining, keep up the good work. Im not big on commenting on videos but i had to give you props.
Colin!! When I started watching IGN a long time ago I loved watching videos with you in them. You have a special presence about you. You have a lot of wisdom in the context of politics and have really interesting things to say. I love you man! Thank-you for making these videos and being awesome!! Love from Canada!
Another great video! I don't know if this is really the place for personal ideas/suggestions but I think it would be great if you could do a video focusing on recommendations for some of your favorite history books. It's something I'm trying to dedicate more time to personally and I'd love some suggestions from someone whose opinion I respect as much as yours. Maybe just a top 10 (in no particular order) covering a range of topics? Thanks for the hard work and keep it up!
I refer to Andrew Jackson as "the best worst (or vice versa) president in history". He accomplished such great things that in some cases have never been duplicated, yet the other side of the coin is so horrible. Working as a cashier years ago, I rang up a native American gentleman who would not accept a $20 bill in change because of AJ. I later found out that that is a common practice among native americans because of the said dark side of the coin. Anyway, thanks for the great videos Colin. Love or hate him, he's one of the most fascinating Americans in history.
I bet he would accept it for a beer. And whatever, if he didn't do what he did, someone else would. He is a Americasn patriot . Tired of Americans not being proud of our past, but will live here and take all the rewards of the past hero's hard work.
Awesome episode, some really cool stories! I've been getting more involved in American History, and honestly I can't help but feel an air of fate or providence surrounded by many of these stories, for me it's most apparent in the Civil War. Would love some more episodes covering Lincoln or Ulysses. Keep up the fantastic work! Cheers, from Nova Scotia!
Hi Colin! Just wanted to say that these history videos are always fantastic and fascinating. Is there a chance of you doing a history episode of any musical genres such as rock and roll? Thanks and keep up the great work!
This is great stuff. So much stuff I didn't know about Andrew Jackson, that story about him chasing down the first governor of Tennessee, that visual is sooo funny.
It's kinda crazy how much I love this episode. I hope we see many more about former presidents. I find John Adams to be very interesting. Modern biographies about Reagan, Clinton and Bush would kick ass too. Excellent work Colin!
American lion has been on my list of books to read since it came out and the author appeared on a late night show. need to pick it up. also your video quality is improving glad to see you're getting in a rhythm keep up the good history work. I'm probably one of the smallest minority of people who's favorite subject in school was history. and I appreciate your channel
Inspired by this video's title... I'd like an episode on psychopathy, sociopathy or otherwise neurologically abnormal people please, and how we should deal with them when they commit crimes. If they can't help it, what's your view on how we tackle them, Colin? A judicial policy meets mental health episode would be fascinating. Keep up the good work!
Colin, I'm not sure if this idea would have a place on this channel- or if you'd even be interested, but I kept finding my eyes drawn to your bourbons and liquor behind you that it got me thinking... I'd love a little video or even a small series where you talk about and sip on your favorite bourbons and whiskys. Maybe even tie one off historical stories that don't really fit into a larger video, but interest you into a review/story video. Think Dinner and A Movie, but in this case Bourbon and a Tale. Obviously, do what you want. I just think it would be a fun change up for you. Keep up the good and very interesting work
Collin I wish you taught me history in school, I used to hate it but you've helped me realize it was the way it was being taught and not the subject matter that I disliked
I'm from the UK always loving finishing work and having your videos to listen to for the way home. I don't know much American history, can you do a video on the formation of the U.S.?

typically an inaugural party is just a lot of champagne, nice suits and dresses and at least some crowd-led session of WE ARE FAAAA-MI-LY but sounds like Jackson just threw a fucking RAGER that would make andrew wk blush easily the funniest episode yet, keep it up colin
Another excellent video. I truly appreciate the way you entertain with you significant knowledge of history. Side note, I am a small business owner and I would love to get your take on the concept of raising minimum wage or government providing people with a "living wage" Thank you Colin.
I was surprised you only briefly mentioned the election of 1824, seems like it would be a good topic for a video. The election of 1844 seems interesting too. Thanks for the content!
I actually LOL'd when I read about Andrew Jackson crawling out of a White House window to get away from his inaugural party. -Colin
Colin's Last Stand man I'd listen to you all day talk about this kind of stuff. and every kind of stuff you're so passionate about.
Colin's Last Stand I LOL'd harder when I heard that cheese story, history is insane :P
hey colin big fan but what about when Prescott Bush tried to other throw the government with a fascist coup back in 1933.
Colin's Last Stand Andrew Jackson aka Candy Andy
My favorite was "Andrew Jackson's cheese..." HAHAHA! Thanks for these great anecdotes! AND for the book recommendation!
I'd love to time a video to coincide with that. I'm fascinated by the Russian Revolution. -Colin
Ilya S. Just watch the cartoon movie Anastasia. 🤣
Great idea, 31st October a Russian Revolution vid. Bring it :D
Colin's Last Stand Please Colin do that that would be amazing
The Russo-Japanese war is also really fascinating. The beginning of the end of European dominance in the world.
The history episodes are by far my favorite. Keep 'em coming bud.
Thank you. I will try! -Colin
I think we need a similar video for Teddy Roosevelt.
I think you're right. -Colin
I believe Teddy Roosevelt said that he saw bigfoot whilst on a hunt. That would be hilarious if true.
You should read The River of Doubt its a true story of Theodore Roosevelt’s exploration of one of the most dangerous rivers on earth
A Teddy Roosevelt episode and a segue episode about the building of the Panama Canal would be very interesting. I think your history episodes and the storytelling in them are awesome. I enjoy both types of videos, but I think I enjoy these historical ones a bit more.
Glad to hear it! Traffic says you are in the minority... but I'm not one to always appeal to the majority. =) -Colin
Jack same
These are more fun for sure, but I think I enjoy them equally.
For me one is cheeseburger one is fried chicken, but are good and my favorite depends more on my mood than his content.
Andrew Jackson always sounds like a real life version of the character Daniel Day Lewis played in "There Will Be Blood".
He’s the blueprint 😌
I have followed you since IGN days and beyond. I just want to say thank you for your content Colin. I am from the UK and love learning about american history from you. More videos like this please Colin! Amazing to know our country has been crafted by these men who were such crazy characters.
So good! You've reminded me why Andrew Jackson has been my favorite president since the 4th grade. Good work, man.
Just wanted to say it's awesome how you reply to so many comments. Great video once again.
What a great episode. This is your best work Colin.

Thanks for doing this video. I have read everything on Jackson, I'm from North Carolina and always found this man's life pretty damn interesting.
Colin, this was my favorite episode. Awesome work! Keep them coming.
These history videos are the best!! Keep 'em coming Colin.
I rarely comment but felt compelled to mention this was one of my favorite CLS videos so far.
Thank you so much. Glad to hear that! -Colin
I always enjoy learning about American Presidents. Thanks for always making great content.
That is awesome, dude. The assassination story itself is worth the watch! Thank you for sharing, dude!
these freaking videos make my week so much better, colin never stop.
I'm really glad to hear that. I will stop one day... but no time soon! =) -Colin
You can stop when all topics have been covered.

He killed 25 million people
TheRoland19111 best worst president

He was a representative of Euro-american interests. He may have signed the papers, but in reality the decision was made by the people.

As a Native/African American I agree 100℅..The dude was a crazy bad ass yet fascinating President..
Fantastic episode Colin. Keep up the great work!
Thank you! -Colin
Fascinated stuff! Thank you for all of the research that you put into this, Colin!. Love your work so far, always a fan.
You making a video on my boy Action Jackson made my day. Keep it up Colin!

It's stuff like this that makes me wish I paid more attention in history class when I was in school. That's why I'm really glad you're doing this.
what a fun video. colin you are killing it on your own!
Loved it! Maybe 1 history + 1 contemporary video a week is a palatable content stream for those who mind the current stuff. Keep up the good work!
I'm from the UK always loving finishing work and having your videos to listen to for the way home. I don't know much American history, can you do a video on the formation of the U.S.?
You inspired me to read more on the American Revolution and I just finished "A struggle for Power" by Theodore Draper. Keep up the great work.
I was sad to see what happened but now i think it's going to let colin really shine at what he does best. keep up the good work colin
Well this is the episode I'm actually excited! The most bullheaded president who actually gets things done during his presidency. Within the means of the constitution of course. Thank you Colin!
You're welcome! -Colin
What about when John Marshal told Jackson that the (Trail of Tears) was unconstitutional?
I love you Colin. $5 supporter here. Happy to see you succeed. I've watched you since I was 12. Keep up the good work.
I had a feeling there was more to Ol' Hickory than the story you told Greg, but I didn't think it would have included 10K+ ragers and a metric ton of cheese! LOL
He really was a crazy awesome guy. Awesome episode!
Glad you liked it! -Colin
Go to hell with him
The guns misfired twice...flintlock pistols cannot “jam”
Probably more a misuse of terminology, as the didn’t have that type of mechanism....there was that saying though, “ Keep your powder dry”.
One of my favorite episodes yet! Thanks Colin! Also, the Jackson home in Nashville is awesome I suggest anyone visit.
This episode was awesome Colin! Really enjoyed it.
I really love these history videos!! Is there any chance on a revolutionary or founding era video? I've always loved learning about that time. Even before hamilton lol, tho I'm glad it has gotten people more interested in history and that era.
Great video as always Colin. My forte is medieval and Renaissance history so it's always nice to learn other periods.
Loved the episode! Thanks Colin!
your videos never disappoint. Thank you
That's very nice of you to say. Thanks! -Colin
Seriously love these history videos. Good stuff!
Would love to see another video on one of the ammendments and its history.
Amazing video! Thank you!
typically an inaugural party is just a lot of champagne, nice suits and dresses and at least some crowd-led session of WE ARE FAAAA-MI-LY
but sounds like Jackson just threw a fucking RAGER that would make andrew wk blush
easily the funniest episode yet, keep it up colin
Great job Colin, love the story's!!!
I enjoy both type of videos hope you keep doing them both
The assassination attempt story is fucking classic, man. Always loved hearing that one.
Colin u tha MVP with these history videos. Keep it up!
A giant block of cheese, and a Triscuit the size of Lake Tahoe. Another great show, Colin.
Man, you make learning so easy. Great stuff, Colin.
Another excellent video.
I truly appreciate the way you entertain with you significant knowledge of history.
Side note, I am a small business owner and I would love to get your take on the concept of raising minimum wage or government providing people with a "living wage"
Thank you Colin.
highly enjoyed this episode! 😊
While watching this, I kept thinking that his life would be perfect for a Tarantino movie.
I was surprised you only briefly mentioned the election of 1824, seems like it would be a good topic for a video. The election of 1844 seems interesting too. Thanks for the content!
Absolutely love it! Great stories, great history.
Why couldn't my history teachers tell a story like you? Great episode. Can't wait for more. 👍🏻❤️😉
Sitting on my balcony, smoking a cigar, drinking a glass of whiskey, and listening to a video about Andrew Jackson. 'Cause 'merica!
I love these historical storied peices.
I like the historical videos the best. Fun to just listen to a story :)
Can't wait for the Andrew Jackson movie/TV show.
