It’s impossible not to fall in love with this woman...she embodies bravery, character, wisdom,...what a gift from our Creator she shares with us. Bless you Sinead💕
Daaaaaamn...I've been to shows with orchestras, pyro, dancers, lights up the wazoo, you name it. This tiny woman and one ancient reel-to-reel just blew them the fuck away. I rarely say this, but God bless you, Sinead...May you rest in the peace you so rightfully deserve.
My favorite moment in this video is when she realizes that the people are clapping with her. The look on her face as she takes in the love, and then the way she just starts rocking with the energy of the people. It makes me burst into tears, I wish she had known that love always, instead of the judgment and hatred that people showed her at times. We did not deserve her. RIP legend.
I can't quit crying and listening to her music. She was a huge part of my youth. Saw her live in 1990. We are the same age and I never imagined she would be gone so soon.
Sinaed is a prophetess. She is a daughter of the most high. This is why she is under attack on this earth her whole life long. Take heart Sinaed. Many people love you and need you.
I saw her perform in Berkeley and when it was time for this song she rolled out the drum machine herself, turned it on and everyone was on their feet dancing and just feeling the power of her voice and I felt blessed and privileged to be a part of history. She was amazing but one fan got out of hand and some guy jumped on stage and she was visibly scared but she thanked him for "freaking her out". I will never forget that performance.
June 1990 was Berkeley Community Theater, not the Greek. I was there. I remember this song, I do not remember anyone jumping on stage. Not saying it didn't happen but you'd think I'd remember something like that!
although I do recall viewing this first I can't but picture V for Vendetta Portman's character whose name completely escapes me now !! BUT yes fiercely well played performance well played you fiery siren HMMMM!!
Oh my GOD this is so phenomenal!! She was SO YOUNG and SO GROUNDBREAKING...she's just mesmerizing. I remember getting "I Do Not Want..." on cassette (still have it) and playing it TO DEATH. Now I want to do so all over again.
There are no words, Sinead. Very sad tonight. May you rest in peace, such a brave and honest soul. And thank you for your powerful moving music and performances over the years. You were the epitome of a musical artist. Like Bowie, there will never be another like you.
The year was 1992, and a friend of mines girlfriend has died of AIDS in hospital in Toronto. She ran up and down the corridors punching holes in the walls after he lover died. At the funeral, this song played as we laid her to rest. No other funeral cut me so deeply.
she is beautiful; a beautiful voice, a beautiful smile, beautiful spirit. She can dance as beautifully as she can sing. Just a beautiful talented human being.
One of my favorite renditions of this traditional Irish song...by one of my favorite singers. Still brings tears to my eyes, even after hearing this when I was in high school, in the early 90s. Powerful.
Absolutely gut wrenching performance by Sinead. I was awestruck by her first album, and her exact age, I am gutted that she is gone. She was totally 'cancelled' which ruined a purely expressive soul.
After hearing the sad news of her passing away, I stumbled upon this version of this magnificant song. For me, she will allways be remembered because of her beautiful, emotional and yet powerful voice. I hope she has found the peace she was looking for. R.I.P. chilling coming to this now. RIP Sinead, the most beautiful looking woman ever with a shaven head and a beautiful soul embodying the intelligence of rebellion and protest.
Bless this lady. I knew of her when she first came out and STILL THINK she has the BEST voice ever! Beyonce and Beiber have nothing on this one and never will. When will we get an artist like this again?
Lmao Beyoncé and Justin Beiber are two entirely different artists with different ranges than Sinead had. Also I would bet all three would roll their eyes at this comment.

So very and genuinely special on so many levels. Say what you will about Sinéad, but one can’t argue for a lack of integrity. Often in the face of much unfair opposition, she held, and most often turned out to be accurate in her concerns. She was also generously vulnerable enough to share herself honestly. Of course, not even to mention her extraordinary musical sensibility, her sophisticated songwriting, and her hurricane of a voice. RIP.
