Great ceiling height and light! I would get rid of that little corner if it's not load-bearing. It's a really awkward space and you may regret keeping it. Can't wait to see what happens bit by bit over on IG.
I agree with lots of the previous commenters with knocking down that little corner by the stairs if it's not structural. If it's structural and you have to keep it, I wouldn't put anything on the floor on the corner as that pathway seems narrow enough as it is. A nice decoration would be a vining plant hanging from near the ceiling. That way it would make the corner less empty but at the same time leave space for walking. That or make that hallway wall a gallery wall. But overall, just keeping the walkway clear.
Feeling like maybe it was a security thing not showing the house just bought which i totally understand. Would be interested in knowing how you came up with the plans. Were you always planning to completely redo a home or were you hoping not to?
Have you thought of using a Murphy bed for the spare room / shoe room ? You can use hung shelves on the underside ( or the wall when it is up out of the way) of the bed which when you pull the bed down stay level so you don’t have too move your handbags or shoes when you need the bed. This would give you a large open area for you too film in or get dressed in when no one is staying. Alternatively you could use the underside as your dressing table with a mirror etc, when the bed is up and out the way you would never know it’s there and there are some stunning designs which I am sure you could adapt too your own personal style. A small corner console table in the corner by the stairs for dropping your keys on when you come in shouldn’t cut too much into the space and don’t forget to have plug sockets in the hall ways of both levels of the house for hoovers, lamps etc, (basically think of how many plug sockets you need and double it 😉 as you will always need more than you think ! ). The house will look amazing when it’s done but you can see it has really good bones and with those lovely high ceilings it will always give the illusion of more space. I would think carefully of putting you toilet right by the window as even with a frosted glass you will see a shadow of the person sitting on it especially when you have a light on at night which isn’t great, my friend did it in her bathroom refurb as she didn’t realise until it was done and she ended up having shutters on the window to try and minimise the shadowing ( it was a very busy road so lots of people/ cars going by ) as she got really paranoid once she realised it. Can’t wait too follow the journey of your new home till it’s completed and then of course your creativity on furnishing it.
I am so excited and happy for you that you’ve bought your first home and doing it all up from scratch! I look forward to more home updates whilst I am dreaming about the day when I’ll be able to do the same ❤️
The wooden floors are lovely , im shocked that the builders did not lay down plastic covers on them whilst they are working in the house . All they need is sanding and vanish. Victoria in the frow had to buy the wooden floor tiles . L
oh god, with those high ceiling the lighting options will be sooooo exciting! I love ceiling medallions etc....obsessed...lol... this is such an exciting journey for you and it will be wonderful to follow along w the proces, choosing wallpaper, bathroom fixtures etc
You're lucky yo have builders working already!! Or tjys has bern planned a while ago? It takes months where i live to get builders. The light is amazing you will love this place!
Great house tour! Exciting times! Just a suggestion, if it's not load bearing, I would knock down that little corner. Seems like a waste of space and I think you'll be happy you made the choice to open the space up. Just an idea! 😊
I'm beyond so happy for you, I love this video! seeing the transformation of it will be so magical! for you to have! the growth! I love the banging, and building work! don't worry!
The house looks lovely, can't wait until it's finished and decorated lol I'm so curious 😬I don't know anything about interior design/decoration but I'm like you, fan of colour and things with character, not so much minimalistic and modern looking things, so I literally can't wait 😊
Such a lovely home and can't wait to see the renovations! I would definitely remove that little corner space by the staircase! Thanks for sharing with us!!! p.s. can't wait to see your shoe and purse wardrobe or shelf space!!! Dreamy!!
It looks so promising! Keeping it real with the construction workers. Loved that :P For the entry way part (next to the stairs) I would say make it open. If you don't, you might regret it when everything is done and then you won't want to get it messy again (maybe) haha. :)
The trend in the USA home designs (my homeland) the more open the better. In other words tear down any wall that doesn’t allow the flow to breath… very modern and fresh. The wall in the hall is claustrophobic. Happy reno!
It is going to be gorgeous. How about an umbrella stand and a couple of decorative coat hooks in the little space at the bottom of the stairs :) Congratulations
IMO, it would have been better to see what the rooms looked like before construction began. The scale of each room and layout of the space would have been clearer, again, just my opinion. I’m sure it’ll be pretty when the remodeling and decorating are completed.
Yeah, she probs did that as it would've been easier to find online if she showed the original layout. So many loons out there, so IMO she did the safest thing, showing us mid building site stage, as it would be tricky to match it to sold housed online. Pretty astute thinking really.
If you could move that small entry wall back a bit to make the entryway a bit bigger, that would be nice. It would make the living room a bit smaller but might be worth it since you’re opening up the other wall anyways. Just an idea ☺️
Maybe you can put the sink and toilet on the other side of the bathroom so that your bathtub can have a view of the window? Your home is so lovely and I can't wait to see the final results
Where is the guest room? Perhaps i missed it watching the video, i think, because two bathrooms upstairs for a master bedroom, master bathroom and shoeroom and not a guest rooms seems have not enought sense?? You house will be amazing for sure! Congrats!!😊🎉🎉👏🏻👏🏻😘😘
I just think that it's fun of you to show your house. Very personal and not something that you really need to do. But we enjoy it. And seriously if anyone really is bothered by the noise of your home makeover I mean really how vapid is their first world problem lives
So glad you're keeping the fire place in the bedroom. I can assure you that the carpet on the stairs will have to be replaced, it's going to get a lot more messy!!!
Hello! I live in London and to answer your question, property is super expensive here and so often people don't have spare rooms. Also I think Amelia is using a space that could've been a second bedroom for her shroom!
Knocking down that awkward corner I get, an open staircase does allow for a better airflow and a more open look. Do keep in mind it might be colder in the winter ;)
Love that you are sharing the renovation of your new home. Not sure if you are familiar with (Freddy My Love) but she had a great idea for a TV above her fireplace ( looks like a framed mirror when you look at it but turns into a TV with a click of a remote controller. Something to consider for your bedroom. 💗🇨🇦💗
Your on the right track for making the house beautiful. Your staircase would be lovely once you remove the carpet. Have you thought about painting the risers or adding a nice tile. Once you remove the carpet those treads could be in good shape to strip down and stain. Good luck with the renovation.
Great ceiling height and light! I would get rid of that little corner if it's not load-bearing. It's a really awkward space and you may regret keeping it. Can't wait to see what happens bit by bit over on IG.
Thanks Judie!!
Knock down the corner. It’s too small and you’ll want open space next to a staircase. Knocking it down will open it up.
I would tear that little nook, the flow of the home is very tight there. Beautiful hola, congratulations!!!!

Beautiful, God bless your new home, so happy for you.
Amelia, please don’t get rid of the beautiful original bannister and stair rails!! It’s lovely as it is 🥰
It looks so promising! Keeping it real with the construction workers. Loved that :P For the entry way part (next to the stairs) I would say make it open. If you don't, you might regret it when everything is done and then you won't want to get it messy again (maybe) haha. :)

Bookshelves/reading nook for that spot near the stairs. Also great way to do concealed storage.
Looking forward to see how it turns out! Hope you keep us updated 😊
Congratulations Amelia
It's going to be such a beautiful home!!
It’s beautiful congrats!!
looking forward to seeing you journey
Your jewellery is looking gorgeous in this vid, congrats again on the new house, so many changes happening, can't wait to see the transformation 🥰🧡😘
So exciting! Congrats! It’s going to be amazing when it’s finished!
For the small place next to the stairs do something cute for your dog that would be so amazing like a little bed but your style 💗

Lovely….When we built our house I made for damn sure we had a fireplace in our master….it’s amazing!!!
Never clicked so fast 😂 hi 👋 🥰💕💋💋
So rewarding when you can see your ideas and plans taking shape 😍 I love your top!! Wonder where is from..😌😌
Do you have a shareable pinterest board for house inspiration? Would be fun to see what kind of style you have in mind!
Your doing a great job. You have style - go with your feelings ! 🏠
Beautiful house!! 🤍🌟
This is such an amazing house! Congratulations! You will make it soooo pretty 💜💙💚

So exciting to see you come to this point Amelia! So how many bedrooms total is it?

It was downstairs by the kitchen, she was talking about how she's going to be putting up some awesome wallpaper!

How wonderful and exciting for you, always love seeing ‘before and after’ videos. Congratulations 🎉🥰.
Thanks Gill! Excited to share the process😍❤️

aww amelia loved this so inspiring
In Canada, we try to use "Principle" or "main bedroom" instead of master. We have no "masters" ;-)
This going to be a very beautiful home! Congratulations on your new home ❤️
Thank you so much lovely!
OMG how much work!!!
I bloody love a good staircase
5:20 you could make it into a gallery wall,
Hi there. I haven’t watch Amelia YT consistently. The previous place that she has in London is it rented or someone’s else?
Will you have an outdoor patio and garden?
this is going to be amazing!
Congratulations Amelia! It crazy that I can imagine everything? Haha this is going to be such a fun process for you!
Wow, cheers for showing us,,, this is going to be fab I’m sure,,,, love your taste,,,( wallpaper) x
Amelia it's Going To be Fabulous. Xx 😘
Congratulations! I’m in America where a guest room is very common; is it not common to have a spare bedroom for guests in London?
Hello! I live in London and to answer your question, property is super expensive here and so often people don't have spare rooms. Also I think Amelia is using a space that could've been a second bedroom for her shroom!
I have a thing for staircases too... I think it's a fairy tale building thing haha
yessss
Knocking down that awkward corner I get, an open staircase does allow for a better airflow and a more open look. Do keep in mind it might be colder in the winter ;)
So interesting 👍🏻❤️
Fun !
Love that you are sharing the renovation of your new home. It's a particular tv called The Frame. You can show pieces of art and it looks so good.
It’s amazing
if you move the bathtub to the opposite wall, you could have a bath while watching the fire. Ah the dream!
Consider glass bricks in your bathroom / bedroom devide .Then you will still have the light from both ends of the room from the windows.
Yesss!! Perfect!💓🏡
hehe thank youuuu!
All ceilings seem tall = relatable
Congrats hope achive the same im the future wish you the best in the projdcr of your house i just moove house too love you outfit
Quartz countertops in the kitchen, they're pretty low maintenance.
You can put Christmas tree on that small staircase
Open up hallway if not a load bearing wall.
In hall take down wall shelf and wall paper
Your hair look beauiful
Hi Amelia! I’m following your home account but the status is pending 😔
She hasn’t accepted me yet either, I see it’s growing as well.
🌺🌼🌸👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻congratulations!
Just curious about the original age of this house.
Your on the right track for making the house beautiful. Your staircase would be lovely once you remove the carpet. Have you thought about painting the risers or adding a nice tile. Once you remove the carpet those treads could be in good shape to strip down and stain. Good luck with the renovation.
Yes but a carpet would make the stairs more secure ie less liable to slip on them. A sisal look wool carpet would be gorgeous.
Awesome
Congrats👌❤️
Thanks so much Bridget!
Do you work with an interior designer?
❤️❤️❤️
