As the daughter of an interior designer, I have some tips! First off, I love the green for cabinets, but you don't want to make that area look too dark (as it looks rather dark already, despite the velux skylights!) so maybe consider the mushroom and do the same color on the walls. Go for a darker green in the more formal living room though! For the bathroom on the first floor, the 2-3 bricks thing for the ceiling isn't going to make as much of a difference as you think. If you go to the expense and effort of raising the ceiling...raise the ceiling to where you want it. Also, I wouldn't suggest wallpaper in a bathroom, like ever. Bathrooms are damp and humid places and wallpaper doesn't take kindly to that. I would suggest tiling the walls like 2/3 of the way up at the least. It really helps keep things dry and safe when you have a steamy shower (that way you or a guest aren't drying down the walls of your bathroom after every shower). Although engineered wood wasn't a thing, herringbone flooring definitely was/still is. I would use it in your entrance hall and formal living room as well! Ok I lied, I'd use it everywhere you can possibly use it. It's such a gorgeous classic and will look good with moody darker walls, as well as something more girly, fresh, or in between! A nice white alternative color is more of a "winter white" or vanilla milkshake color. My mom used a color called vanilla milkshake on the trim for our 1929 lake house and it's really pretty and not harsh at all! As for the storage underneath the eaves of that smaller velux window you plan to replace with larger ones, I can help. My childhood bedroom was vaulted so storage was an issue. Under the eaves of both sides of the room, were cabinets with shelving. Don't do that, it's such a pain. I wouldn't even do doors. I would highly suggest doing strip lighting and built-in drawers (perhaps that are done in a jiib door or "hidden door" style) so that you don't really see them. The dark green subway tile is really pretty. Do the gold hardware with it. I agree with everyone else about the flooring though. In small spaces, you can get away with doing a dark dramatic color on the walls, but I wouldn't do that on the floor as well. I would do something a little more classic like a mid scale checkerboard or hex tile! It sounds like you really love green, so I would run with that. Have as much green as you want, since you want things to flow. Maybe just vary the shades of green that you use! Maybe a sage green somewhere, an emerald or more hunter green somewhere else. In between, do more neutral colors to transition from one to the next! Best of luck though! It looks like a really unique property and you have the right idea in restoring the fireplaces and changing out the windows!

From a interior designers point of view, go for the mushroom colour kitchen, because it means in the future, you can always get it resprayed from the lighter colour to dark if you want to change the look and the feel of the space. Also storage is 100% better than surface space as you can add tables, etc! Hope this helps and what a dream project!!

I would 100% go with storage in the kitchen as this will grow with you. Maybe even a coffee bar hidden away or even a toaster breakfast station. Easy to shut the door on.
Also maybe a dormer in the loft room. Would open it up a bit more.

I think a lighter color for the walls in the living room area would be better, only because it would help brighten up the room. It seems like a darker room lighting wise. I could be wrong though. Love the green color for the kitchen! Wondering if a chocolate brown color would look good for the primary bedroom? Idk haha. So excited to keep watching the progress!

May I suggest, if you can get in touch with interior designer, and you can sit down and share your visions. They can create cgi of interior and exterior of the property. So you can see wheather colour/details and layout of each room compliment to one another, but also helps you visualise each space match your dream. 😊 good luck ❤

We recently painted our living room pink (3/4) and the top is white as well as the ceiling -the plan is to get coving installed. We also painted the skirting the same pink (debating on whether to paint the door frame the same colour or the whole door) we went for Cinder Rose by Farrow & Ball

Green will always be classic ✨ I’ve lived in all white spaces for years and last year I painted my whole bedroom in a beautiful dark green and it’s SO COSY! It’s called bottle green from dunelm and it’s gorgeous. You should definitely do the dark green tile bathroom too. I’ve always wanted that ministry of magic tile as I call it 😍 also love how you’re wanting it traditional. It’s gonna be beautiful x

On the left of the fireplace in the living room you could do a built in bookshelf! Maybe a dark blue green colour on that wall to compliment books and decor pieces. On the right of the fireplace you could put a sideboard or console table possibly with some books on top and a plant. For the primary bedroom a dark colour will look gorgeous!! I was researching how colours affect behaviours/mood and a darker colour helps you to get a better night sleep. A warmer colour makes a room feel more compact and cosy ( good for bedrooms, living rooms or really big rooms ). Brighter tones, in colours or lighting can make someone feel more refreshed and focused so this would be ideal for your office or gym space. These theories can be applied to wall colours, flooring, furniture and artwork. Obviously there's no need to overthink every decision and just do what feels right! Your ideas and plans are so good, I'm so happy you are keeping it traditional!! Good luck with everything!

Amazing can't wait too see this coming together. Id be having gray and pink or adding the colour pop with photos/art work and furnishings. Easier to change then when u want something different.
In the first space next to the fire place if add some cupboards and shelfs for candles and books, like a cosy hotel study in some the 5* places.
Also for your "gym" room what about a spa feel for a relaxing room. Somewhere you can work out but also just relax in with some aromatherapy ect.
Your room I think will work well with the storage you get like they do under the stairs that can be pulled out to store shoes. Bags clothes ect. So you can get lots in hidden away but maybe hidden like secret panels and then some beautiful wallpaper so it's calming as I feel like you want it calming too and relaxing so I'd go again like the lounge with the wallpaper and some nice side tables with some beautiful lamps.
I love the dark bathroom ideas but worried it might make things even more dark? I'd probably have a focus point in the colours you like other than everything dark like a beautiful worktop/basen and Bath and light walls. And then furnish.
Love the kitchen space I'd personally have more cupboards but also a worktop for your coffee area /coffee station and then have some bar stalls around the island and use the island to prepare meals but also chill out too.
Beautiful dinning area for Christmas and birthdays to enjoy as a family.
Also u need a little doggie area in the new lounge 🥰

I'd recommend getting a combi boiler, I'm only saying because I have a water tank in a old house, an it cost an absolute fortune to keep it running. You are very much limited to how long you can have a shower for an you'll be lucky to get 2 bath out of it an because of the size of your house you would be so much better off with a combi xxx

If you do go down that route with children, it makes such a huge difference having a separate sink for their stuff especially their bottles for being washed and steralise desperately. Hi Emily
Loved the video, can't wait to follow your progress in building your new dream home, I'd say a mushroom kitchen too, think it will be dateless, plus be nice to start a new trend again instead of the navy and brushed brass look that's happening ATM, definitely think a nice big storage unit would be better in the kitchen, also keeping with the period features a lovely face brick wall in the kitchen would really show off the mushroom units, a good new old style brick to use would be called farm house mix, have built a few and really looks nice with oak flooring and oak shelves, can't wait to see the house through the way, and bathroom sounds beautiful with the cast iron bath.... ravens feet for the period feature?

Tip - I wouldn't recommend putting your peloton on carpet. I do and it's makes it unsteady. I've had to put a timber plinth underneath it but it's still wobbly.

I love your vision of the kitchen however I would consider if with making the space bigger you will have enough outdoor space (I can’t tell if you house has multiple acres or meters of garden, so this is just and idea that arose) That would also be a concern for me because with family, if you want one, I think you could use a safe space for kids to run around without going to park etc. 😊

I would do the second sink in the kitchen because it would be easier to remove a second sink to convert it to cupboards if you need the space later than it would be to remove cupboards and add a second sink later.
