NIce, seemed a little complicated for getting those spacers and couplers. 95-01 8.8s (discs) have a fill plug on the pinion snout. That Solid cover had a high level fill plug. You want to fill to where the fluid is at the base of the axle seals (bottom of the axle tube). So don't use that cover's fill plug as the point. Its way too high (my experience, LOL).
It was definitely a tight squeeze getting everything in. A non C clip axle would have been much easier. I was wondering about the fill plug on the cover. It would take like two gallons to fill it up to that hole haha. Will definitely be using the plug on the snout.
I wonder why that SL F8.8-31 # 17005 kit costs $ 582 on the USA Standard Gear Spartan Locker website but only $ 250 on Amazon and eBay?
You didn't install the thrust washers on the main axle gears. This must be my issue. Awesome and thanks
spartan specifically instructs NOT to reinstall the side gear washers
watched a few videos now, bit confused do you still use some of the old gears washers/spacers?
No the locker replaced everything inside the carrier. The C clips have to be reused though obviously
That looks a lot beefier than the weldy I wanna do. Makes me wanna spend $400 so I don’t destroy my housing
