    Excellent video, lots of detail, great lighting and easy to understand. One thing we would add to the video is to check the center gap between the two cam gears. You can do this using feeler gauges through the cross pin hole. The gap should be between 0.145 to 0.170. We rarely see Ford 9" differential case inside dimensions out of tolerance, but it can happen. The center gap needs to be within our specs for proper locker function. If it's too wide, you can shear the 4 dowel pins. If it's too tight the locker will ratchet hard.

    It is good practice to mark the exact relatiinship between the drive pinion and ring gear teeth. Some ratios change randomly. Those devisible by .25 ratio 3.00, 3.25, 3.50 etc) are repedative in the gear teeth touching and have a common wear pattern.

    You should have put a mark on the side adjusters. It helps get them back to the same adjustment. Mark where the lock tab goes In to the adjuster hole.
    Don't use red loc tight on any of the bolt, if you use any just the blue stuff. You have to use a torch to get Red loc-tight apart.

    Great review. One concern, when using the zip cutoff wheel, much of the debris went right into the right hand bearing. Also, it's a good idea to use "assembly lube" as it will turn into a liquid vs. grease. They use it often when building automatic transmissions. Thank you for the 9 inch video.

    It's interesting that even though it's only 2 spider gears, it's still a fully enclosed carrier and not windowed on the sides like toyota 2 spider gear/2 pin carriers are.
    Surprisingly suzuki's little baby thirds are all 4 spider gear/4 pin carriers with the center block, like the heavy duty style you mentioned. I just pulled one apart the other day to lincoln lock, they're basically a 1:2 scale version of your carrier setup.

      @Garth2011 5 років тому +1

      Parts expand when they heat up. No backlash, they get too tight, too much, they are loose and can make noise and howl etc Damage will occur and life will be less without proper gear alignment. There's also the pinion depth to set which he didn't need to do in this operation. If you don't get the numbers right, you will have an improper setup that will come back to get you..

      Try checking your fuel pressure regulator and fuel rail pressure. On the renix its pretty easy. I assume youve got a new fuel filter in there as well. Without an obd the renix is pretty much, "runs smooth?" Good enough!

    • @stephenhickman9502
      @stephenhickman9502 5 років тому

      @@Jv977 yes it has new fuel filter. It runs perfect still, plenty of power and and acceleration. Nothing is leaking, no gas smell anywhere. It has a 13 gallon tank and went from averaging 200 miles a tank too 130 miles give or take a few. It's just weird that it all seems great except the numbers. I will check what ya said and thanks for hitting me back.

    • @Jv977
      @Jv977 5 років тому +1

      @@stephenhickman9502 Its tough to diagnose a fuel mileage problem when the engine seems to be running okay. Try and flog it a bit and see if you can get it to show some symptoms. It is possible that you have a vacuum leak somewhere and the engine is compensating for it. Get a propane torch, leave it unlit with the gas on and poke it around near any vacccum connection, listen for engine rpm change. You can also do it with carb cleaner but not as safe. Heres the bible for renix engines: cruiser54.com/ hope you get it sorted out soon.
