    Depends on how you drive I never broke my 35 while wheeling in the rock's with 33's

      Did the tire come off the ground then land spinning? Most of the time that is why they break.

    I've been running an Aussie locker in the Dana 35 of my old YJ for years and it's held up to some pretty serious off roading. Experiance and common sense will tell you when it's time to use the winch and save the axles.

    What brand locker did you install? Install looks easier than just replacing spider gears alone

      Did you have any concern with auto lockers in both axles? Seems nicer to have selectable locker on one axle if you don’t mind the cost and labor

    I put one of those in my wrangler back in the 90’s it lasted 10 years with 33’s. Beat the piss out it. Yes it saw rock crawling,rubicon,strawberry,mormon immigrant trail,Molina and many others. So yeah

    iv had my front lokka in the nissan d22 navara for 18 months now. go 4wdriving on dirt and beach every month. give it hell and hasnt failed me yet. the front CV's have started to make some noise but its a 25yo car and the boots havent been there for the last 18months as well. add that with beach driving and they were going to give me problems. have just replaced the front drive shafts and changed front diff oil and oil was perfect

      That’s awesome to hear hopefully this dana 35 will last that long but our hopes aren’t very high! The dana 35 is notorious for being the weakest axle to come factory in a jeep haha

    Any codes for these. Id get one for my dana 30. This 35 will last 1 day with this guy driving. Does this jeep have selec trac? So if theres a shim on axle spider gears do you put shim on spartan gear or no shims at all.

  • @jordanlane4761
    @jordanlane4761 Рік тому

    So i have a question on why not to use the oval shape shim. When had my jeep i always broke my dana 30 pins on the locker. Did it have something todo with the shim ?

    • @mountaincrawlers8
      @mountaincrawlers8  Рік тому

      The shim is meant for the spider gears not the locker. The locker requires a specific gap tolerance and reusing the shims probably wouldnt even fit the locker right and would make the tolerance too tight.

    what was the end result with the locker? did it click/ratchet a lot while normal driving on payment?

    • @mountaincrawlers8
      @mountaincrawlers8  Рік тому +1

      So far holding up well. It of course will always ratchet on turns but it’s quite driving straight. You can see his lockers performance on my most recent video going on back way to crown king trail

    Dana 35 is trash. I took mine out, and put a 44 in it. I have no idea why Jeep put such crap in to a vehicle like a jeep?

    • @mountaincrawlers8
      @mountaincrawlers8  Рік тому

      I agree dana 35 is a crap axle. Not sure why jeep ever considered it. But quince needed traction until we put tons in his jeep so why not see how long it lasts lol. 3 months so far and still staying alive. Lasted longer than any of us thought so far.

      I have a spartan in the front of my TJ. Thought I would put a mechanical delectable e locker in the rear but maybe I’ll just do an auto locker in the rear. I live in Hawaii - no snow, lots of sand. Any thoughts?

      I have run similar lockers in several rigs over 3 decades, love them in the snow, you will need 4wd, running 2wd in the snow and locked rear will make the tires break free, I do not like these in the front axle in the snow, that is sketchy, locked rear, open or limited slip front and 4wd in tge snow is fine, live in colorado so yes I drive snowy roads, just ordered a similar setup for my new rig

    • @lindamoser2532

      I've been running lunch boxes front and rear for a few seasons. They work good, but the rear clicks on turns and clunks sometimes.
