I'm not a car savvy guy, and have been CUV shopping. Been watching reviews all night. Kind of getting sick of them really. But.... This my good man, is a great review. All of your reviews are great. I'm torn between the mazda cx 5 and this car. I need more trunk space, and will be towing, so think the crv is the way to go . Again, super reviews.
I have a 2012 CR-V. While it's a great car and I'm very happy with it, I feel like Honda kind of rushed the interior design. The refresh totally remedies all the little gripes I had, such as the lack of push button start, memory seats, rear air vents, and so on. The subtle touches of silver they added throughout the cabin really make it look like a higher end vehicle (it also makes mine look more bland, lol). Thanks for the video. It's cool to see what they've done with the refresh and how it differs from my 2012.
Excellent review. Love the car. My one gripe is that it doesn't have memory pre-sets for the mirrors. There are two pre-sets for the driver's seat, but the mirrors don't change along with the position of the driver's seat. Maybe Honda only does that with the premium cars, like the Acura RDX; similar to the issue of the six-cylinder engine you mention, Honda doesn't want to take away too much demand from their premium vehicles.
My favorite interior in this segment. Clean, uncluttered, and high quality. I am surprised that the black-trimmed portion of the grille with the Honda logo looks like the new grille design of the ILX (just, obviously, in black vs silver). Not sure that's a good idea as it doesn't allow separation between Honda and Acura as people already criticize Acura for being "dressed up Hondas" already.
***** Look at it carefully. I'm well aware of the what the Acura grille means to the company. The black portion on the CR-V grille is just an elongated version of the new ILX grille.
***** This is not a subjective opinion. Bring them up side by side, full front pics and maybe your eyes will see it. The CR-V's black portion is just a slightly more squared-off black version of the new ILX's grille portion with the Acura logo. And I saw it at first glance.
I have owned 3 Honda vehicles so far, and the new refreshed 2015 CRV AWD Touring is on my short list. My concern with this AWD system is that not much power at all is sent to the rear wheels when needed, and this could be a huge problem is certain conditions. There are some hill tests on You Tube which demonstrate this. I am hoping if you can shed some light on the AWD system of the new CRV, that would be appreciated. I have to go test drive one and have already asked a salesperson to gather some info on the CRV AWD system for me to review. Keep up the great videos...
Love the reviews! My wife is very interested in this new CR-V, I'll be showing her this review for sure. Question, have you driven the 2015 WRX with the CVT? I'm interested in your thoughts on that. Possible review for that car in the works?!
We know a lot of people who would be quite happy with a CR-V, it's the perfect car for about 90% of buyers in America. We haven't tested the new CVT equipped WRX, Subaru should be loaning us some press vehicles sometime next month :)
Okay, so I've been trying to decide between this, a Forrester 2.0 turbo or the 2.5 with a manual or a Mazda MX five what do you recommend between three? I love the all weather capability of the Subaru.I love the font to drive factor of the Mazda. I've had Hondas my whole life and I'm very comfortable with them...hmmmm
This car would be perfect if the “center stack” was the same as it is on the civic .... why does a sedan have more space (in the front ) then a compact suv
This Guy the bad thing about Mazda is... Google people with a new Mazda that has had a windshield in need of replacement. ... then.... the nightmare begins.....
love your reviews, why don't you give each aspect of the vehicle some kind of rating to help us compare each model....like 9/10 for ride and 7.5/10 for interior
Test drive this vehicle thoroughly and there is an annoying vibration issues when in idle, just for some info on buyers, if you could live with the vibrations, its a great vehicle (note: vibrations occurs when the engine is warm enough so test drive till the engine reaches normal temp) just sharing my experience on the test drive, good day to all
Good review, I would like to know how the cabin space is compared to the earlier models? I like Honda, Have owned Civics and Accords. The wife wanted a Element and I wanted the CRV for our next vehicle, After sitting in the CRV, We went with the Element.. The Element was very spacious for a smaller SUV..
I am considering CR-V vs Nissan Rogue. The only thing that is holding me buying a CRV is the reviews. Tons of reviews are complaining about the vibration. Someone even indicated that it was acknowledged by the company. Anything I should know of?
Any idea if you guys will have a chance to test drive the new upgraded Forester? Have narrowed my choices down to the CRV, Forester and Cherokee. Thanks!
Why do none of the reviews mention the vibration issue with this car? I seriously was going to buy this car as the 5th honda I would own until this whole vibration issue came up!
kicksreason Nope. All models have halogen headlights while the top of the line Touring models get halogens with projector beam headlights. Really, all models should have gotten at least projector beam headlights but Honda was too cheap to do that.
2015 Honda CR-V- Does the adaptive cruise control feature work from 0 mph to 120 mph? Any limitations? Does it brake completely automatically and start driving automatically after braking completely? does it have the “Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function”?
CVTs are less expensive to manufacture, and there's a fuel economy improvement over a typical auto trans. The high RPM drone under heavy acceleration is a deal breaker for some. I'd prefer the company's new DCT. Beyond that, they need to go back to their roots and focus on excellent ergonomics and industry leading quality. That's where the Honda/Acura brand lives and dies. That cumbersome center stack you reviewed here is an example of them losing their way in these areas.
HA HA HA I just bought a used 2015 Honda CR-V EX AWD, loaded with LOTS of nice options. It was a lease return so car is in great condition. Actually, looks showroom new. Anyway, I didn't know squat about its features or options, this video was great to tell me what was what. E.g., I didn't know it had a CD player that flips open with a push of the button. Didn't know how to operate the lane assist camera, or whatever it is called, mounted on the right rear view mirror. I bought the CR-V because the Mazda CX-5 I was considering did not have a moon roof. The CR-V was parked next to it. After seeing this video it turns out my CR-V is quite the car. (These things are really well built. A bonus, my placard on the driver side door said the car was Made in Canada. I like that, way better than Hecho en Mexico cars.
Comparing this to the 2016 Acura RDX for $10k more for the fully loaded one, are there any other significant reason to get the RDX other than its power?
Should have put the led headlamps on touring model like the accord, I would ditch the adaptive cruise for them, and the other competitors have Xenons on higher trims. Love the much needed refresh though looks much better.
Sofyan, I posted this on your Instagram as well, but I gotta say again, I disagree with you on this! The general structure of this car feels budget grade. Doors close with Meh weight and sound, and the door handles feel hollow when you pull them. Inside, the interior is cheap plastic everywhere, save for the dashboard (to look good in marketing pictures). Driving, the steering feels light, artificial, and entirely disconnected. All I can say for handling is that it is "secure". I know it's a good packaging and sports a nice power-train (though the CVT now graces the structure with a very unrefined rattle to the whole structure when in idle) wi good MPG and an attractive MSRP.....so it looks good on paper, but to anybody who cares the least bit of driving, this thing is a disappointment, there's none of that old Honda DNA left! Best pics in the segment IMO: Escape (Solid structure that feels German grade) forester (cheap build quality, but better driving feel) Tiguan (small, and pricey, but you get what you pay for)
Looking for a subcompact SUV. Have narrowed it down between the CR-V, Rogue, or Morano. which do you feel is the most comfortable ride for long distances? P.S. I like Redline Review the best!
Today, my, 2015 Honda CRV Touring is showing a Tighten Gas Cap message on my dashboard(not check engine). I took the cap off a couple of times and checked for cracks, there weren't any, put the cap on and turned till it clicked 3 times and the Tighten Gas Cap message was still there. I took it to Honda where I live and they said after I take the cap off and put it back on to drive 10 miles and everything should reset, if it doesn't I need to set up a time to have them look at it. Any ideas on what may fix the problem?
We had a 2005 CRV, and it was a good car. So we bought a 2015 CRV. Had problems. Went through batteries about one a year, and started using oil, even though it only had 70,000 miles on it. Then the starter went out, air conditioner, not a Honda fan now, considering they cost more than similar cars. 🙁
I just want to point out two other flaws: The parking break is still the old style pedal on the left of the footwell. For such a high tech car why not the new electric system with auto hold? Secondly: the blind spot camera is nice, but the camera itself is a ugly bump on the side mirror housing. Why not incorporate that in the mirror or cut a small section of the mirror just for the lenses? I am sure there are smaller cameras systems that could have been used.
I'm moving up to a Compact SUV. Which one should you recommend. I'm buying so I need the most reliable. 1. Honda CR-V EX FWD 2. Ford Escape SE FWD 3. Nissan Rogue SV FWD
Ford Escape scores POOR in IIHS's small front overlap rating, making it one of the most unsafe SUVs on the market. In addition it features gigantic A pillar, questionable reliability, and a soon-to-be-retired MyFord Touch. No matter how much incentive or discount Ford offers, nobody should consider it.
Sarah Perez also, the dual clutch transmisson is being taken away as after 50k miles they shutter like mad and are terrible. Good job ford for canceling this bad transmission in all your cars.
Iav Roche I agree, Redline please spend more time talking about audio systems. Speakers, subs, sound quality, etc. very important to me when looking at cars.
I doubts if you have driven any recent nissans vehicles like the altima 2013 or 1, they have the best CVT transmission i ever drive. Especially the 2014 got the traditional auto trans feeling, its acts like it shifts traditional auto trans. Response like eye blink no delay at all not like the 2007 altima where they have some noticeable delay to response.
Does anyone know where I would be able to find out if these headlights would fit the 2012 ex model? I’ve tried google and I’m getting answers for yes and no
Rye S No, this is an "on-demand" system utilizing a viscous clutch. As soon as there is slippage of the front wheels torque is then sent to the rear. We have an '03 Element, same design, and in practice it works quite well in normal wet and snowy conditions.
With each model refresh, Honda's Marketing Dept. probably has to play "Mother, may I" to Acura's Marketing Dept. (assuming they're separate). The CR-V can't feel too premium, now can it? Acura is probably uncomfortable enough as it is with the "premiumness" of this refresh.
Yea, but it's lot easier to market a soft-touch, vinyl machine stitched upper dash than soft door panels (even though the latter is something you touch everyday, and the former, well, never). In other words, it's a marketing grab/gimmick.
Great review, thanks for posting, if I had any constructive criticism it would be a better mount for your lead car when doing rolling shots of the feature car. Difficult to get a good look at the road presence of the feature car with the lead car's camera is shaking so bad. Better review than the other few I watched before, one with a really annoying female that was hopped up on coffee or something.
2011-2015 Honda CRV Touring all look the same. If I would want to buy a CTV touring, which year would you recommended is the best safety and extended warranty?! How many yrs warranty Honda gives? Like Kia Sorrento they gave my sister 10 yrs warranty/guaranteed for her new 2016 model.
The 2014 drives AMAZING for a 4-cylinder.. I'm used to Honda's V6 engine and this actually surprised me. So I know this one is great!!
I always love Honda 4 cylinders, very smooth, love the VTEC, and high revving ~~

great review, and you are right about CRV owners sticking with it, I bought a 07 CRV brand new, and my next car will be a CRV too.

Agree with you, Nissan's CVT feels a bit "rubberband-y". But if you want to feel a very well made well tuned CVT, try Subaru's chain driven CVT.

Hey what's your top pick for compact cars of 2014?
Our favorites are the Mazda3, Volkswagen Golf, and Honda Civic.
An excellent review. I have subscribed.
I heard that the 2014 model as well as the 2015 model comes with issues due to the CVT transmission
2014 is a 5 speed traditional transmission ...2015 was the introduction of the CVT in this model.
Should have put the led headlamps on touring model like the accord, I would ditch the adaptive cruise for them, and the other competitors have Xenons on higher trims. Love the much needed refresh though looks much better.
I was ready to dismiss the new CRV because of the CVT. I drove Nissans and hated it. Then I drove this and it was just perfect.

Come on, Redline, let Tyson and Jaxson do more reviews!!!!
that is bizarre how the engine holds the revs but the car keeps accelerating lol
