- Spring is here, the garden is re-awakening from it's long cold sleep. Where there was just earth there are now shoots appearing. The sunshine sings to the plants and makes them flower.
This video shows how I plant (some) of my numerous Spring pots. It usually starts in November/December with the bulbs, then I give it a rest until February/March time and fill the pots with all kinds of seasonal bedding plants in readiness for a beautiful display.
I'm really looking forward to the coming weeks where I can share with you all my hard work in creating this Secret Garden.
Thank you to those of you who 'bought me a coffee/plant' the bulbs you see growing are what you helped me buy and I'm so very grateful to you!
Compost is Levingtons Peat Free, one of the best I've come across so far! @LoveTheGarden

Such a fantastic share. I love all your pots too. Very enjoyable and inspiring.
Hi Susie, thank you for your kind comments, it's a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to seeing how your container garden comes along ☺️
So special, so elegant ❤❤
So pretty and charming!
Hi Justin! Absolutely enjoyed this segment-the epitome of spring! All of your containers look so healthy and beautiful. Gardening can be messy but it is worth the effort and work. Seeing the doves really put a smile on my face. Thank you and please know that we appreciate your talent and hard work.
I tend to leave a trail of bits and pieces wherever I've been, the hard thing is having to tidy them up afterwards when there's so much nicer things to be doing! The doves visit most days, sometimes they stay all day - they're ever so sweet. Thank you for watching 😊😊😊
Thank you Justin for sharing the beauty of Spring.
So beautiful!🌺
Lovely garden! Thank you for the peaceful narration!
Very charming!
So beautiful
Hello from Vancouver Island! Your garden is simply breathtaking. You are more than a gardener… you are an artist. Amazing!
Hello, what a long way you are, I'm so happy you enjoyed my video and garden!
Thank you. Lovely garden and also enjoy the pots and adornments all throughout. Cheers
And thank you too for watching and taking the time to comment, it's much appreciated :-)
Helo ban yêu chúc bạn một ngày vui vẻ hạnh phúc ,rất vui được đồng hành cùng bạn ❤🤝.
Ah Justin, it's always such a joy to watch what you get up to in the garden - be it your beautiful secret garden, or the manor house, or strolling through other gardens! Thank you for sharing them with us - in particular the secret garden ☺️🌺🪻🌼🌷🌹🍄🪴🐞🐝🦋
I'm a bit fed up with these orange and black daytime-flying moths which are doing a jolly good job of trying to obliterate my cycas 🙄🙈 They seem to SMELL the new, soft fronds, lay their eggs on them and before you know it, a million caterpillars have devoured them, it's very disheartening. I have to check daily for eggs. Over 150 at a time sometimes 😳🤦🏻♀️
I managed to find a beautiful little statue that, amazingly, someone didn't want, so now she has pride of place in one of my flower beds, under an arch which is in desperate need of a nice flowering creeper. She's a few inches shorter than me - and about 10 times heavier!! No exaggeration. 🙈😅🤣 Her first night in my garden it hailed ping pong sized hailstones but she weathered the storm, although just about everything else was shredded. The trials and tribulations of a gardener...
Anyway, I look forward to another spring and summer in your company, and hope you have a lovely Easter weekend 😊🌺
Hello, I thought I had better get replying. It's such a nice time of year now, the winter fading and everything coming back to life - thankfully it's not been too bad a winter just a bit wet. Sometimes people put scents near plants to stop the insects detecting them, I know the lily beetle spray works like that, hides the scent so they're not attracted to them but it's not poisonous. I'm excited you have found a statue for your garden, have you thought of a name for her yet? I saw a nice one I liked but then saw the price and thought i would probably leave it. I quite like old ones that have been somewhere else before and have story to tell. I hope you have a nice Easter too, I think we are going to have some dry weather so there's a lot to be getting on with. Happy gardening!
Hi Justin, we've had a terribly dry summer so I'm envious of your rain! 😆 Even a couple of heatwaves with 35C-37C temps, so I'm grateful for the cooler mid-20s again.
I love your suggestion to mask the scent of my cycas fronds from the moths, thank you!! On Saturday and yesterday I sat with painter's tape, applying it gently to the fronds and then removing it along with HUNDREDS of eggs, honestly, close on 500, maybe more! 😳
Yes, her name is Lucretia 😄 Admittedly not your average name, but it's from a short story I read about 30 years ago and just loved 😆 I hope the statue you saw and fancied finds you somehow - or that you get a windfall and can buy her! 😃🙏 May you be as lucky as I was - I asked Lucretia's previous owner where she'd bought her, and she asked straight away if I wanted her! She couldn't stand her, but she was too heavy for her to move - no kidding 😳 (she'd been in the garden when the new owner moved in). Like they say, one man's junk is another man's treasure 😉
Have a super week! 😊🌺 PS Your Red Dress tulips are incredible!!
Awe, the sweet little doves overseeing the garden. Beautiful choices of mixed pots and flowers. Thank you for sharing. Watching from California, USA
They sometimes sit on the wall and sleep all day, it's a very safe place and I suppose it is there home more than mine :-)
Nice to see your spring garden and beautiful pots!
Thank you Linda, there's so much to look forward to and it's just beginning :-) I hope you have been able to do some gardening
Everything looks so gorgeous! Thank you for sharing, love it ! 🤗🌺💚
Khu vườn tuyệt đẹp ạ ❤.
Starting to come alive again Justin love the pink pulminaria I’m a messy gardener
Isn't it exciting, I hope you enjoy making a mess I do, clearing up is another matter however!
You have such amazing primulas in the UK. We don't have these tall steamed beauties in Northern California. Your pots are beautiful.
They seem to like our weather, they have done really well this year - maybe because of all the rain!
Very pretty and restful. Thank you. Very cold here in Central Scotland but you have inspired me to clear up my pots. Sadly no Garden Centre real close but must try to get away to gather some last minute Spring sales like you. My wild garden certainly needs its pots nurturing like your lovely ones.
Thanks Gillian. It is still quite fresh but I suppose it's normal really. A bit each day and you'll soon get there inbetween the rain, it never seems to stop. I'm sure you can find some plants, even if its just someone selling by the roadside. I do like my bargains otherwise it would be a very costly experience! You could grow some of your own if you have a bit of shelter :-)
So good to see you! I. Beautiful and so lovely❤❤❤👩🌾
Thank you!
Your pots and containers look lovely Justin. I love all the Spring flowers and bulbs. I have some lovely Tulips in flower and lots in bud which look really nice against the Daffodils. They're all in pots and worth all the hard work planting them last November. I don't seem to be successful with my Violas and Pansies as they're amazing for a few weeks but something eats them and the stems come away in my hand. It happens every year. I've been told it's slugs. I keep trying though as I think the flowers have such pretty faces. You got some good bargains from the garden centre. No wonder you snapped them up. Great video Justin. Thank you.
Hi Wendy, it seems so futile planting bulbs then just having bear earth to look at, then all of a sudden they just appear and are flowering in no time. The thing with slugs is to catch them, then pick them off, usually the best time is on a night/when it's dark, after it's rained (just about every night at the moment!) They soon make light work of pansies and flowers if there are enough of them. I hope you can catch them!
Beautiful ❤❤❤❤Thank you ❤
Welcome 😊
It looks lovely, don’t feel you have to apologise for a tiny bit of mess.
There's plenty of mess where the camera doesn't point ;-) !
Hi Justin. Love your choice of flowers, and your variety of containers and pots makes it interesting. It's going to be another colorful spring ❤ Eileen from Alabama
Hello Eileen, thank you, the next thing to look forward to are all the tulips I have planted so many! Happy Gardening!

Thank you too 🌷🌷
Everything looks so beautiful. Your video is so relaxing and therapeutic to watch.
Thank you so much!
I hope I can help you, with my ideas and the way I garden 🌷
beautiful doves.
Thanks Justin for showing us all your hard work, it's so worth it for the beautiful Spring colour. It takes some patience to plant all those pots, well done. Take care.
Thanks Christine, a labour of love and worth every moment when the flowers appear. Next thing is taking them all out.....!!! (argh) ;-)
I love the Viola, you spurred me on to do some planting. I can't understand people who think they know how you never clear up after your planting......
I always clear up, unless it rains then I'll just leave it and finish later and hope nobody sees it ;-)
It's just so wonderful to be here.
You're always welcome :-)
Gorgeous, thank you for sharing. Lots of inspiration 😊
Thanks so much 😊
Beautiful little secret garden
Very colourful, dont you just love this time of year
It's my favourite time, everything is bursting with life and so much to look forward to!
Hi Justin i have recently discovered your wonderful secret garden and you can really feel the love and tranquility oozing from this oasis .Do you use any kind of slug and snail control as everything always looks so lush ?
Kindest regards Alan
Hello Alan, thank you for your nice comments, it's a special place to escape to, even virtually! I have a method for control, which is to go out on a night when it's rained with a torch and hand pick them off, and deposit them somewhere more suitable. If it doesn't rain then you can water the area and they'll appear as if by magic. I don't kill them as they're food for other creatures & I leave the tiny slugs as the frog enjoys eating those.
Justin, I have a shaded corner that I would like to put some pots. Can you recommend plants please❤ Your garden is looking fantastic as always xxx
Pots in corners...hmm... you'll be looking at Hostas, Heucheras, Tiarellas, Liriope, and annual plants like Begonias, Fuchsias and similar, even some house plants would enjoy it but obviously not hardy. Just have to watch out for vine weevils and slugs, they'll think it's Christmas!
Hi Justin, could you please tell me were you got those black solar lights from please? thanks.
🌼🪴🌼Lovely 🌼🪴🌼
Hi Justin, could you please tell me where you got those black solar lights by your pond, i'm looking at getting some for my own back garden. thanks
Hello, they were from Amazon, when it's dark they flicker like flames so look really nice as path markers ☺️
@@justinthegardener thank you very mutch
С контейнерами одна проблема: постоянно надо бегать с лейкой и удобрениями.
