What impresses me most about this amazing anime is that it puts all the pieces of the puzzle in front of your eyes, gives hidden clues as to how to put them together, it's all there from the start...and yet the viewers never see the complete picture until the author has decided that they do. But he'll always let the viewers figure it out by themself.
Pay attention to EVERYTHING. Everything is meticulously constructed and put in place. Tengoku Daimakyou is remarkably well written. Enhanced by the work of Production I.G.
The manga is even better IMO. There's a levity to some of the manga that's somehow almost completely absent in the show and it acts as a nice contrast to the oppressive horror. Tokio's little judo throw of Kuku for example is framed as this setup / payoff two shot and it's pretty funny, where it just looks angsty and kind of petty in the show. Same event, different framing = different message. There's a few moments that really get changed quite a lot by that in the show and for the most part I think they're degrading rather than improving the whole, which is a shame because the production quality is absolutely insane.
I love how the clues about Kiruko's identity are laid out in the first two episodes ("I'm a boy" and "18, no wait... 20") and presented without fanfare, and how that reveal is itself a demonstration of just how much information will be hiding in plain sight throughout the series
If you can both foreshadow and imply a sister complex by a character trying to kiss herself in the mirror, you know you're doing something right lol
Then him trying to make out with his sister.....
The HUH? after Kuku talks abt the babies is so relatable lmao
It's great that you're reacting to this anime, the story really rewards you for thinking and theorizing about all the misteries so you'll probably love it

Theory crafting was always my favourite part of this show while it was airing
Having 12 weeks to really think things through piece by piece was EXTREMELY fun
I always assumed that Kiruko was the brother and I was wondering how the change would happen. Them thinking she was the sister up until the last second made it so much better lol.
Making a note on an extremely minor detail back from the episode one is exactly the mood you should approach this show with.

Probably the best episode in the series so far, one of at least...so expertly animated and directed.
This is basically a "freebie" - it gives you the answer to one of the first mysteries right in episode 3. Looking back, there's been at least 4-5 hints already at Kiruko's ambiguous nature, hidden in plain sight as jokes, throwaway dialogue, strange reactions, etc, and now you get payoff.
So, how many of the other lines of dialogue or details or jokes etc were also hints for future mysteries? How many unassuming details are actually important?
Kiruko's identity is but one little "reveal" to let you know "how to read (understand) Heavenly Delusion". And even her identity is not quite clear even from this - be sure to try to pay attention to things like body language and other things too for extra clues down the line.

Thats my 2nd theory back then.
The boss, Robin talk about, bet against Kiriko or have personal problem with her and order Robin to kill her; or ask someone else do it but Robin know it and did nothing. He feel guilty one way or another and run away.
Ye that's what I thought too like the doc saw the opportunity to do a experiment. ..

I am very pleased to see the wonderful responses from you two and to hear your further thoughts.
You two have both observed this story very well and I think it is wonderful.
As you said, Kiruko has been telling no lies since the first episode.
This story is logical and mathematical, and all the mysteries have satisfactory answers.
And once again, it is unfolding in an unexpected way.
I have not read the original story. And I do not like spoilers.
Therefore, I am limiting my comments to what has happened in the story so far.
On that basis, I have deduced that...
Robin hears that a man-eater has appeared and rushes over with the gun he just got.
Then there was something there that had its face buried in Haruki's upper body and was shaking.
Robin, who never looks his opponent in the face in a fight, judged it to be a man-eater and shot it in the head to protect Haruki.
When he ran up to look, Haruki's arms and lower body were gone, and he realized that it was Kiriko whom he had shot through the head with his gun.
Robin, who had shot Haruki's beloved older sister, whom he loved like a younger brother, went into a half-crazy frenzy, crying and hanging on to the doctor.
And after his hopeless blunder, Robin disappeared.
The doctor realized that it was impossible to save both Kiriko, who had lost her head, and Haruki, who was missing an arm and the lower half of his body, so he performed a brain transplant.
I don't know if this is correct or not, but the mystery is interesting enough to make me imagine so much.
You two knew why Kiriko mixed grass with food in the first episode, didn't you? That's great.
Did you also understand why Kiruko does not know whether she is 18 or 20 years old?
By the way, I think it was Haruki's kindness that Kiruko shook hands with a man who was a fan of Kiriko's in episode 2.
Did you notice that the catastrophe occurred in 2024 and that it was this year?
Did you notice that the beginning of the ending changed between episodes 2 and 3?

I have so many questions. The prominent one is, who shot the gun? My immediate thought was Robin because we did not see him after the incident. Very sus. But as to why he shot, I have no idea.
Ill tell you the answer from the manga. Its because of 'mystery box'. Thats it, thats the reason. This is a mystery box story. Theres no reason for most things other then 'ya this sounds cool and mysterious'.

@@kenshirotoki9339 mystery box is a term used in story telling where.people just make stuff up because it sounds mysterious but have no actual long term plan for an answer. What tends to happen is they just keep making up new mysterious stuff to distract you.
The tv show lost is basically where it started from.
I really hope they don't figure out a certain twist until episode 12, cause that episode has one of my favourite reveals in all of fiction, and I think it would be a bit of a waste to figure out the answer before then due to how brilliant it is. For those of you who know:
I'm talking about the scene text to the river where Shiro pulls his hair up. It is literally a perfect reveal, I couldn't even imagine a better way of a show revealing a twist.
Spoilers for the anime:
I am convinced Robin is actually dead. If you have seen the show, you know he shows up later, but I am near certain it's someone else put in his body, specifically, I think it's the doctor. It just doesn't add up. Everything we see from him in this episode directly contradicts how he acts once we see him later.
Even something as small as him saying "always look into your opponents eyes" is contradicted when Maru attacks him, like the robin we see in this episode is not the same guy who was scared shitless at a kid coming to attack him. And with us learning about him being "over protective" and "him going after the doctor and working closely with him". And specially with us seeing he was doing weird experiments in the final episode, I think it is not only possible, but extremely likely, that he and the doctor had some sort of fallout which resulted in the doctor taking over robin's body.
We could also assume the experiment with Kiruko was a test, to see if he can pull off something like this, before trying it on himself.

That wouldn't really explain why he acted so surprised to see Kiruko alive if he was the one who operated on her
@@electricant55 We don't explicitly get told that he was surprised to "see her alive". if you look at his reaction, he wasn't just surprised, he was scared as well.
I think his reaction would still be logical as the doctor, the person he experimented on and ran away instantly after doing so, has found him, of course he would be surprised by and scared of something like that.

Its not. Plus the doctor dies almost instantly in the manga for the dumbest of reasons. This story is literally just mystery box nonsense. That part with robin is just there for shock value and for no other reason(except possibly the authors fetish)
