Also Kona never showed any signs of having invisibility as an ability (since the students and their Man-Eater forms generally have similar powers). Also Nata’s brain has likely been put into Sawatari/Doctor Sakota’s robot assistant that was seen in chapter 53. And Nanaki is most likely the spider-like Man-Eater due to the cover page of chapter 29 (the one featuring the spider-like Man-Eater) spelling out Nanaki’s name in katakana through the broken window frames. And the after-life cave more likely happens after a Hiruko student dies, not when they transform. As Kuku alludes to having memories of her time on the boat as a Man-Eater. And Mimihime and most likely Shiro appear in the cave after their deaths in 2039.

I will concede I was too quick to consider Kona to be the isopod that ate Haruki, I figured they looked similar enough and since there were still no students that had invisibility mentioned at that point, as of chapter 54, Kona was the most likely candidate. I do believe they're not the same Hiruko now that you mention it. As far as Nata's brain being placed in the robot, I did consider including that in the video but I feel like to me at least, the evidence isn't conclusive enough to do so at this point. And I didn't even catch the Nanaki thing at all!!! As far as the cave thing, that's an interesting observation, I think you're right given the evidence you provided. I guess this is what happens when I analyze a story on a time crunch, I miss a lot of important details. I will be a lot more diligent moving forward.

@@cohandora It was most likely Mina and/or Asura. It was not Tokio turning invisible since things besides Tokio wouldn’t show up on the camera as well, it wasn’t exclusive to Tokio.
@@cohandora i thought about that as well but i don't think that's what was exclusively affecting the cameras/surveillance. I do believe that man-eater was Tokio though. The way she spread out those tentacles to grab onto the directors arms is the exact same from when she tried to eat Haruko. Also worth mentioning, she stopped trying to consume him when Kiriko begged her to stop. She let him go and also spared her life. I don't think any other man-eater would do that.
I think they’re wrong. Everything Kona draws becomes real, thats his ability. Remember when he was flashing back to when asuna was alive, Kona drew a white streak on his drawing of the kids playing, and the kids who were playing in real life got a massive cut on their leg from the drawing. I think he just drew the fish into existence.

Spoilers: Kona's ability allows him to subconsciously see the future. Asura taught him this, and Kona himself mentions that the "ideas" just come to his head. He is also able to sense other Hiruko, as he mentioned that he knows where Kona is when she was taken for her pregnancy.
Aw man. Mimihime was my favorite. Amazing person and a rememberable character design. What a horrible freaking future she had in store for her. And usami fought tooth and nail to keeo her alive..maybe to the point of selfishness but she could communicate so if she wanted to die i feel she would have said so. This manga hurts man.
I have a question, since I assume you're a fan... what makes this good? After I put the dots together in episode 8 and realized it was Mimihime it practically ruined the show for me. Its excruciatingly depressing to see the "Heaven" scenes since its pretty much a given they're all dead or dying in the worst ways possible. I just can't find any enjoyment in that

Tbf you just gotta piece it together there's a graph of the timeline you can look up somewhere it's pretty crazy how everything comes together to form the a whole
I always thought that Maru is actually the clone of Tokio and Kona's son and his mission is actually to deliver the poison not medicine to his "brother" and kill the superhuman/supersoldier experimental result in the hands of the government/military
I think no one knows if Maru is the real child of Tokio or not, not even that old hag. No one have access to technology for DNA scanning after the apocalypse happened and the doctor who was assigned to deliver the baby also didn't know it and just lied that he knew
@@a2falcone the clone was supposed to be given to Shino (the old academy director) and the real one was supposed to be for Tokio and Kona. The fact that the doctor was panicking because the babies got shuffled means that the clone was different than the real one.
I just started reading the manga after watching the anime and realized that they had left a lot of small details out of the anime that could’ve shed light on the mystery more.

Thanks for clarifying who became a Haruki so far. I was questioning that after reading the latest chapters. And only today, after watching the latest episode, did I figure out that Mimihime was the patient lover of Dr. Usami(who in turn is possibly Shiro). Also the Spider Haruki might be one of those two lesbian kids who keep making out all the time based on the story told by her baby's father on how he was in an all female camp and he impregnated a woman who was in a relationship with another woman

Shino is just the freaking worst. I love how her true self slowly reveals itself to the viewers eaders up until where you're actively wishing ill upon her. A great villain. I also missed a few important details which is why I'd encourage everyone to read the pinned comment from @TheoVorster because he clears up some of my mistakes.

It's definitely more than ten years. There's a chart in one of the recent chapters that gives all the dates that have been revealed so far. Maru is 15. He's the clone of Tokio's baby and the one on whose foot the doctor drew the circle. So it's been 15 years between the two timelines.
Yeah, I addressed this in the comments section, I wasn't as specific as I should have. It's a ten years difference between the Takahara Academy storyline and the beginning of Kiruko's story which is when Kiriko and Haruki were attacked by the Hiruko. Then Maru and Kiruko's story was 5 years after that.
at 6:20, the chief of the purification squad (bottom right panel) is most definitely school nurse aoshima aka mitsuki imanaga (revealed in chapter 47), since she is literally referred to as chief imanaga
@husniperThey were in their mid 20s (both somewhat fresh out of college, with Aoshima maybe being a little bit older as she seems to have some experience in her duties). That's 16 years before the current timeline. They are in their early to mid 40s, so...
The Hiruko who nearly killed Haruki is probably Tokio, not Kona. Also, being - along with Akira - among the eldest children birthed by Meena and bearing an ability to see how the transformation into Hiruko goes, I suspect that Kona plays a pivotal role on the whole thing. We'll see.

@osamabinmemin5518 that wasn't disappearing power. The AI was deliberately messing with the cameras. If it was just Tokio's power, the camera would've picked up the machine she was standing on, Kuku holding the vent open, and Kona in his bed when she went to visit. Her power was revealed at the end of season one when she started hardening herself when thr Director tried to grab her baby. So we still don't know who the Monster that ate Haruki is.
It's a very confusing manga, so I recommend reading it twice to get all of the hidden details. As far as memories goes, I hope you didn't go through some trauma reading this! Anyway, thanks for your comment!!!
I just speed read the manga because I’m so curious of the plot.. this video does help me understand what the heck is going on, including who is who.. and OMG this manga is verryyy dark, sad and ‘disturbing’. But one thing that I don’t understand is when Kona said ‘the one who killed Asura is coming to get Tokio next’. Is it someone in the academy or…?? And then does Tokio still alive?
Love this video it's extremely informative for a casual anime watcher. I had no idea there was a time gap between the two storylines and wasn't able to catch that from the episodes. Just one point, the way you spell Hiruko sounded a bit like Haruko in Japanese and I got confused at some parts :( Looking forward to the second part!

The Anime Adaptation seems to have Cut-Out a lot of Story from the Manga. I've watched the Anime currently at Episode 7 & there's a lot of stuff Missing from the Manga & the Anime is Censored for Certain Scenes.

Wait when do we learn that those stories happen in different timelines? I thought heaven is just an isolated facility and everything outside is fucked, that's what the director said, that the outside is hell where monsters roam. I guess humanity could be substituted for monsters but the actual literal explanation fits like a glove. So again, when do we learn that those storylines are 10 years apart?
If you read the manga they provide a timeline. But it's also alluded to in many ways. During the cart races you can see written on the promo material that the year is 2034. Then when pick up day comes around in Tokio's timeline, they state that the year was 2024. Hope this helps!
Finally someone else thinks that Taka is the bird Hiruko, But my issue with that is that cant shake off what Usami said that when they (die from the disease) they become a Hiruko. So if they also become a hiruko from dieing normally, wouldnt that mean Usami and Hoshio would have turned after death. But the only confirmation we have with the diseases being the kulprit for the transformation is Kuku, we cant use Tarao cuz he was cremated, Mikura dies and we never hear of hear again nor what her ability was. We dont know how Ohama, Mako and Anzu died so its safe to say it was the (disease) BUT Taka was killed by Michika and that bird and his ability is to similar to be a coincidence. (this is just a theory = But what if Iwa or/and Nanaki (the 2 girls that are always kissing) is the spider hiruko since you know, (that arc hit kinda crazy) but mainly cuz they were killed which would also solidify the point of being killed normally can trigger the transformation within a month time. So Asura, Kona, Miina and the Director knew about the astroid I wanna tear down all my theories but then ill get more confused than i already am.
Hoshio won't become a hiruko because her core is already destroyed. But we can't be sure about Usami. If what usami said is the actual truth then my head canon is taka had the disease but just in an early stage ( maybe it played a role in his loss)But if Usami was wrong than it will be extremely tragic as he would become a monster after working all his life to not let his love become one. And i hope with all my heart that's not the case. But it might just be hopeful thinking.
Actually, upon further thought there's evidence that suggests ordinary death wont turn them into hiruko. Since the super soldiers that were used to prevent the asteroid were hiruko too, the one that was killed by its own kind for defecting to go see Tokio did not turn to anything to our knowledge. Another piece of evidence is that Taka most likely had the disease because otherwise he wouldn't have abandoned Totori to fight Takezuka unless he thought he was going to die anyway. But still who knows.

The mother of the freezing baby is either the lesbian couple Iwa and Nanaki, because if both the couple stayed in the all female walls and chose to have a baby with one of the prisoners. Iwas and Nanaki had the bright idea of running away after giving birth to her son and they took the father with them but the women were able to catch up to Iwa and Nanaki, or that if nanaki since she just gave birth she was probably weak and that her falling down might've implicated that Iwa must've came to her aide and I think Iwa was the one holding the baby. Because there was also a commotion in the facility, Juuichi the father of the baby Didn't notice that Iwa and Nanaki fell behind and before the doors have close he was able to escape and only kater he realized that the girls weren't able to catch up. The lesbian couple were executed by the women and the bodies were burned and hanged. I think burning the bodies could help preventing the hiruko core to transform. As for the ice spider, Nanaki must've set an intention to protect her son in case of her death Thats why after they died the monster came to be from her son's powers and murdered and possibly drove the women away. Since the ice spider stayed in the facility for a very long time despite not having a core. It's probably Nanaki protecting her son even after death.

Their bodies weren't burned, just mutilated and hanged. She turned while up on the fence, hence it being collapsed. She then immediately attacked the camp.

My theory: The hiruko that attacked and killed haruki and kiriko is tokio. Also since all human-hiruko hybrids turn into hiruko, maru will turn into one too 😭. And then later kiruko will kill him.

I hope so too. Also, when Mimihime saw her in that state it was most likely referencing the time when Tokio transformed when she was holding her son and ended up trapping director Shino's arms. So it might be a good sign she's still alive.
I'm wondering if she might turn out to be the one last seen around the airport. The way it deflected the beam completely was a similar reflex to how she hardened to repel the Director.
They all have the disease; I look at it as dormant vs active. If they die while the disease is still dormant, they die as humans. If they die after the disease has activated, they turn. Shiro's wasn't active so he died human. Not sure if there's some factor(s) that play a part in when the disease activates in each kid but it happens early with some of the kids while others make it well into adulthood without it activating.

No that's Taka's ability. He was messing around with it to see what he can do and he ended up cutting Michika.

It's a ten years difference between the Takahara Academy storyline and the beginning of Kiruko's story which is when Kiriko and Haruki were attacked by the Hiruko. Then Maru and Kiruko's story was 5 years after that.

at 6:20, the chief of the purification squad (bottom right panel) is most definitely school nurse aoshima aka mitsuki imanaga (revealed in chapter 47), since she is literally referred to as chief imanaga

Also, being - along with Akira - among the eldest children birthed by Meena and bearing an ability to see how the transformation into Hiruko goes, I suspect that Kona plays a pivotal role on the whole thing.

@osamabinmemin5518 that wasn't disappearing power. The AI was deliberately messing with the cameras. If it was just Tokio's power, the camera would've picked up the machine she was standing on, Kuku holding the vent open, and Kona in his bed when she went to visit. Her power was revealed at the end of season one when she started hardening herself when thr Director tried to grab her baby. So we still don't know who the Monster that ate Haruki is.

I just speed read the manga because I’m so curious of the plot.. this video does help me understand what the heck is going on, including who is who.. and OMG this manga is verryyy dark, sad and ‘disturbing’.
But one thing that I don’t understand is when Kona said ‘the one who killed Asura is coming to get Tokio next’. Is it someone in the academy or…?? And then does Tokio still alive?

Love this video it's extremely informative for a casual anime watcher. I had no idea there was a time gap between the two storylines and wasn't able to catch that from the episodes. Just one point, the way you spell Hiruko sounded a bit like Haruko in Japanese and I got confused at some parts :(

The Anime Adaptation seems to have Cut-Out a lot of Story from the Manga. I've watched the Anime currently at Episode 7 & there's a lot of stuff Missing from the Manga & the Anime is Censored for Certain Scenes.
Yeah, that's why the manga is always the preferable way to consume a story, but hey the anime's fun too, perhaps not as in depth but still fun!

Wait when do we learn that those stories happen in different timelines? I thought heaven is just an isolated facility and everything outside is fucked, that's what the director said, that the outside is hell where monsters roam. I guess humanity could be substituted for monsters but the actual literal explanation fits like a glove.
So again, when do we learn that those storylines are 10 years apart?
If you read the manga they provide a timeline. But it's also alluded to in many ways.
During the cart races you can see written on the promo material that the year is 2034. Then when pick up day comes around in Tokio's timeline, they state that the year was 2024.

Finally someone else thinks that Taka is the bird Hiruko, But my issue with that is that cant shake off what Usami said that when they (die from the disease) they become a Hiruko.
So if they also become a hiruko from dieing normally, wouldnt that mean Usami and Hoshio would have turned after death. But the only confirmation we have with the diseases being the kulprit for the transformation is Kuku, we cant use Tarao cuz he was cremated, Mikura dies and we never hear of hear again nor what her ability was.
We dont know how Ohama, Mako and Anzu died so its safe to say it was the (disease) BUT Taka was killed by Michika and that bird and his ability is to similar to be a coincidence. (this is just a theory = But what if Iwa or/and Nanaki (the 2 girls that are always kissing) is the spider hiruko since you know, (that arc hit kinda crazy) but mainly cuz they were killed which would also solidify the point of being killed normally can trigger the transformation within a month time.
So Asura, Kona, Miina and the Director knew about the astroid
I wanna tear down all my theories but then ill get more confused than i already am.
Hoshio won't become a hiruko because her core is already destroyed. But we can't be sure about Usami. If what usami said is the actual truth then my head canon is taka had the disease but just in an early stage ( maybe it played a role in his loss)But if Usami was wrong than it will be extremely tragic as he would become a monster after working all his life to not let his love become one. And i hope with all my heart that's not the case. But it might just be hopeful thinking.

Actually, upon further thought there's evidence that suggests ordinary death wont turn them into hiruko. Since the super soldiers that were used to prevent the asteroid were hiruko too, the one that was killed by its own kind for defecting to go see Tokio did not turn to anything to our knowledge. Another piece of evidence is that Taka most likely had the disease because otherwise he wouldn't have abandoned Totori to fight Takezuka unless he thought he was going to die anyway. But still who knows.
@@sanjidatasnim7249 Yeah I agree that would be pretty tragic. Also, maybe Taka's disease was the reason he fought Takezuka in the first place, thinking he didn't have much time left anyway. But the manga is still ongoing so I'm sure we'll find out the truth.

Always thought that Maru would eventually meet the other children by the end of the season
The mother of the freezing baby is either the lesbian couple Iwa and Nanaki, because if both the couple stayed in the all female walls and chose to have a baby with one of the prisoners.
Iwas and Nanaki had the bright idea of running away after giving birth to her son and they took the father with them but the women were able to catch up to Iwa and Nanaki, or that if nanaki since she just gave birth she was probably weak and that her falling down might've implicated that Iwa must've came to her aide and I think Iwa was the one holding the baby. Because there was also a commotion in the facility, Juuichi the father of the baby Didn't notice that Iwa and Nanaki fell behind and before the doors have close he was able to escape and only kater he realized that the girls weren't able to catch up.
The lesbian couple were executed by the women and the bodies were burned and hanged.
I think burning the bodies could help preventing the hiruko core to transform.
As for the ice spider, Nanaki must've set an intention to protect her son in case of her death
Thats why after they died the monster came to be from her son's powers and murdered and possibly drove the women away. Since the ice spider stayed in the facility for a very long time despite not having a core.
It's probably Nanaki protecting her son even after death.

Their bodies weren't burned, just mutilated and hanged. She turned while up on the fence, hence it being collapsed. She then immediately attacked the camp.

I hope so too. Also, when Mimihime saw her in that state it was most likely referencing the time when Tokio transformed when she was holding her son and ended up trapping director Shino's arms. So it might be a good sign she's still alive.
I'm wondering if she might turn out to be the one last seen around the airport. The way it deflected the beam completely was a similar reflex to how she hardened to repel the Director.

If Shiro is indeed the doctor then wouldn't he become a monster when he died? Or do you transform only when you have the disease?
They all have the disease; I look at it as dormant vs active. If they die while the disease is still dormant, they die as humans. If they die after the disease has activated, they turn. Shiro's wasn't active so he died human. Not sure if there's some factor(s) that play a part in when the disease activates in each kid but it happens early with some of the kids while others make it well into adulthood without it activating.
