The insect girl is a battle maid. She's a part of a group called the Pleiades Battle Maids. A group of maids of different species who were created to be minor bosses to distract any intruder so the main character to get prepared for whoever is going to attack him
In concept and design, the guild of Ainz Ooal Gown made them to be essentially the royal/praetorian guard. But in execution and practice, (before being isekai’ed) the players/their creators treated them more as mascots, a cheerleader squad, and/or a pop idol group.
ill say.. for someone who have never seen overlord... and instantly go... is that a battle maid outfit?? that´s nuts tbh... thats a bullseye if i have seen one xD
If i were to explain Overlord without spoiling any particular events but to explain a theme i really enjoyed exploring in this anime. Its about a ruler who is corrupted by the expectations of his subordinates. He still wishes to be good, but he is insecure about appearing weak before his subordinates. Nearly all of the people who serve him imagine him as an evil genius overlord. And he tries to endulge their image of him. Half-ly to maintain his position and not compromise himself, and half-ly becouse he cares for them, as they are a proxy for his love of his friends who he can never see again. Since the servants of Nazarick were NPCSs created by his friends, they are like their children, he is like an uncle who is left to care for all the extended family's children and spoils himself by spoiling them, unable to restrain their darkest impulses.
I wouldn't say his insecure, he's more afraid that they would feel disappointed and one day betray him, he obviously doesn't think that to any of the floor guardians or anyone else in nazarick, but he tries to fulfill their wishes, so he can be the "ultimate overlord"
To answer your question about the "spider maid" yes, she is a maid, her name is Entoma Vasilissa Zeta, and she is best girl, there is no arguments here.
Myth & Roid have done a lot of music for anime, including Re:Zero, so that's probably why they sound familiar. Please create a reaction video for the opening of Reincarnated as the 7th Prince
re;zero & overlord share the same singers for their opening and endings, both are isekai and both started as light novel and both are a 10/10 of character design and story telling, I wish to see more of overlord since it ended with the 18th volume, but for now I'll be happy with just season 3 for re;zero and the holy kingdom movie
You're so jiggly :D Overlord is one of my favorite animes, would highly recommend it if you are interested in a darker isekai setting with amazing world building. Love the reactions
As a big Overlord, writing FanFics, waiting for an opportunity to buy the light novel and/or manga in my local comic and manga shops, etc. I can only recommend Overlord. It’s one of the best Anime out there.👍
Myth and Roid are quite prolific in terms of anime openings. Among others, they contributed songs to Youjo Senki/Saga of Tanya the Evil, Re:Zero, and Made in Abyss, plus a couple more, that I just don't remember off the top of my head. But they didn't do either of Mirai Nikki's OPs. That was Yousei Teikoku for the first one and Faylan for the second and interestingly enough they did a mirror of that with the ED songs, with Faylan providing the first and Yousei Teikoku the second. ^^
All of these go so hard. Definitely think Hollow Hunger is the best of the four (Oxt is always amazing and love their work in Eminence in Shadow), but Go, Cry, Go can go hard. Voracity is also a banger, and Myth and Roid always go so hard (love them from ReZero). Also, goes without saying, but indeed an amazing watch, and worth since season four wrapped up like maybe a half a year ago (I could be wrong) but what I mean to say is now is the time to binge.
The best way I can describe Overlord as a premise (without spoilers), is that it’s basically Game of Thrones, set during the military campaigns/reign of Aegon the Conqueror, but more fantastical (with magic and mythical creatures and races). In that, it’s the story of a foreign invader, seeking to spread his name and unite various nations under his banner to create a utopia (at least his idea of one) through shear overwhelming might. And much like GoT (and now HOTD), most of the entertainment of the story comes from the world building, character interactions/relations, political intrigue, nation/alliance crafting, and strategizing. Furthermore, some people have also compared it to That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, as both anime are Isekais with a heavy focus on nation building/crafting. However, to quote the Overlord/Isekai UA-camr ZeronicKiba, (to use game analogies) if Slime is Civilization, then Overlord is Total War. The former is focused on diplomacy, while the latter is focuses on conquest.
Very happy that you liked it, even if you don't plan on recording your reactions i highly suggest to watch it, it's a just right mix of serious plot stuff and cool fights
One anime I love is Yu Yu Hakusho, an old classic from the same creator of Hunter x Hunter.^^ It has a bit of a slow start, but it is an amazing anime. Amazing enough that they made a pretty good 5 episode live action series of it.
I don't know if you'll read it, but the light novel is still in the middle of the story and the anime is starting to get into the middle. So there are still many seasons to be made and an OVA will come out between seasons 2 and 3. which is a "war" that happens without much importance but explains why a certain country does not receive help.
ik this is a month late, but i am SO autistic when it comes the Overlord its genuienly really good. I might suggest waiting another month or two to watch it just because the movie comes out in september which takes place halfway in season 4
This Anime's story is really really awesome. Its definitely my 2nd fav after One Piece and i highly recommend watching it! The best way ive heard it described is: "an H.P. Lovecraft Parody" Also something i point out in every reaction i watch: All 8 songs were made by 6 people! OP 1,2 and 4 are sung by OxT (pronounced as Hokuto). One Member, Tom-H@ck, decided to make a new Group to help young talent learn the ways of the industry etc and thus came about Myth&Roid with their debut single "L.L.L" which is the first ED for Overlord sung by Mayu Maeshima who later came back as a solo artist for ED 4 (Producer was likely Tom-h@ck again). ED 2 and OP 3 are sung by their current singer: kiHow.
You would love the endings too. Please react to the Overlord anime as well. This is one of those animes with a huge world and lore comparable to that of Witcher and LOTR. Highly recommended.
One thing you should know, the anime is not focused on the "good guy" but you could say it's on the "bad guy" in the world. It will depend on your point of view. lol... I hope you like the anime and I really hope you post it here on YT about you watching it.
You probably recognized the singer (and band) from re:zero or honestly a ton of other anime, they're pretty big (Myth & Roid). I would like to recommend either the naruto openings (there is 29) or arslan senki (there is 3 I think, maybe 4). Or Mushoku Tensei which I think has 3 official openings (maybe 2) and like 5 opening songs (without visuals). If you're interested in that, reply and I'll let you know exactly how many there are and maybe make a playlist.
Hey!😊 Just found your channel through this video. I have seen people in your comments saying this show is the best, or is mid, and I can recognize how unhelpful that can be without context. Media tastes are complex. What is greatness to one may be trash to another, and vice versa, and so it's impossible to tell whether you will enjoy it simply by counting the positive vs negative responses. So I will attempt to give you a *non-spoiler* explanation of the virtues of this show, without touching on plot or characters, so you can make a decision about whether it is right *for you.* Overlord is a show that follows a diverse cast from an atypical perspective. If you are familiar with common anime, fantasy, and game tropes, this show will surprise you by both reveling in them at times, and subverting them at others. I have found that the people who get the most out of the show are ones who can empathize with the characters' perspectives, and deal with inferring information from conversations between people who don't always say what they mean. Characters are flawed, make mistakes, and have agendas and personal histories. So what a character says to another isn't always what they are actually thinking. Sometimes that requires teasing out. Overall, it is a show that dips into both dark subject matter, then lighthearted antics. It sometimes uses the juxtaposition between the two specifically for comedic effect (or making the horror all the more creepy). When I say dark, I do mean dark. Trigger warnings for blood, violence, SA, torture, etc. It is a medieval world and medieval times were not fun. Most of the actual horror occurs off-screen or out of frame though, but it is easy enough to infer. It is not a horror anime though. Frankly, it is a little bit of everything: A bit silly power fantasy, a bit of slice of life, a bit of game of thrones politics, a bit of romcom. It is a very big world with a lot going on. It has themes of loneliness, loss, love, imposter syndrome, growth and change, justice, family and cameraderie. It is deeper than first glance, but it requires empathizing with the characters to access and understand that deeper layer. The characters are loveable (or love to hate-able) in their own right with vibrant personalities and character designs, and the cast is massive. Everyone seems to find someone to get attached to. As a reactor, the show draws a strong audience. It has plenty of twists, surprises, laughs, and shock moments. It is also eminently rewatchable. The light novels are *thick* so plenty got left on the cutting room floor in adaptation, and you will see a lot of comments on reaction videos adding the extra context. If you like fan engagement, this is a good one. If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them honestly and continuing as spoiler-free as possible. Have a great day, and best wishes on your journey. 😊
While the Overlord anime is good they cut out a lot of stuff from the light novels. There are videos on UA-cam that go over what was cut and it's a lot. As someone who started reading the light novels because there wasn't any more anime at the time I prefer the novels. Just something I thought you should know in case you really get into Overlord.
This is such an interesting anime. It's not the best show around, but it's definitely more interesting than the vast majority of isekai shows (though that isn't that high of a bar). As another commenter pointed out, the stakes for the main character never feel serious, but the part of the show that I find the most fun is how much it also gives focus to all the side characters, whether they're aligned with the main character or not. There's 2 seasons where the main character isn't even really the protagonist for the majority of those seasons. There's two entire arcs where none of the main character's squad are even main characters of the arc, in my opinion. In a sense, a lot of the show focuses more on the impact of the main character on the world than on him. The personalities and development of the main squad is good too, but in the end the rest of the world sees them more like a calamity to overcome than a set of individuals. The worldbuilding is also really cool, but unfortunately a bit glossed over in the anime. If you do reaction videos to this show, I'm sure there will be plenty of people (including me most likely) who will gladly explain a lot of those details in the comments. The show also handles the overpowered isekai protagonist cliché a lot better than most other shows. While some parts kinda feel like that standard isekai power fantasy, for the most part it manages to avoid that feeling.
honestly, no. It’s very mid. It jumps all over the place and things just happen for no reason if you haven’t read the novel. Season 1 is good but that’s about it
