- Enjoy this pure Drive & Sound footage of the all new 2013 Porsche Boxster S with its 3.4 flat six (315hp, 360Nm) and 7-speed PDK transmission, driven hard on German autobahn and country roads. This particular car is equipped with the optional Sport Chrono pack that allows a quicker acceleration, even sharper gear changes and better throttle response in "Sport Plus" mode. Technically the drivetrain and chasis are very similar to the new 2014 Cayman S and performance figues should be very close. I personally found the ride a bit harsh, compared to the 991 Carrera S. I have the exact same car. Even if I had $1 million in cash, this would be the car I would drive every day to work. Love this car!!
I also own an identical car, and I would not replace it for anyone else in the world ... it's the third of the series I buy, for me it's my dress, without I feel naked.

I rented a 2013 Boxster S this weekend on Turo, and it was an epic experience. I think I want one. Came here just to listen to the exhaust sound.
I rented a base 2014 with an aftermarket exhaust and ever since then I can't stop watching videos on them. I was a Boxster hater for years and only kinda settled on the Boxster rental when I found out the Maserati GT had a more expensive insurance fee + a deposit. Looking back I made the right choice.
I had a PORSCHE BOXSTER SPYDER for a week. Fell in love with the car. Handling and performance and sound amazing. A lambo or z06 can not touch this car. The PDK shifts and responds like nothing I ever drove in a Auto Box.

Ich bin mir ehrlicherweise nicht 100% sicher, aber ich würde sagen ja! Der Sound war schon sehr aggressiv und laut Serien- und Sonderausstattung äußert sich die Wahl der Sportabgasanlage durch den "Auspuff-Schalter" in der Mittelkonsole (wie bei diesem Fahrzeug). Durch diesen wird die Klappe geöffnet und der Sound ist noch aggressiver. Wiederum lauter wird es wenn man Sport Plus drückt, denn dann kommen auch noch Zwischengas und ein herrliches Knallen dazu;-)

What's the opinion on the standard steering wheel? (without the sports paddles) seems like in my market people didn't bother picking that option, pressing up/down shift is strange for me.
You can have the wheel with the flappy paddles retro-fitted (Porsche Tequipment Store), which you should absolutely do, if you buy a car without paddles.
I also have the same what a beast this car is a pleasure to drive and the car is not expensive to buy or maintain I have the 2013 pdk a dream

With 10k of options you still have a near naked car! My 981 has 40k of options an still has plenty of unchecked boxes on the options list... ;-)

MagicAyrtonforever So to buy a new Ferrari and claim to be a driver, you need to have health problems? I used to look down on anyone driving a non-manual sports car, but the PDK has gradually changed my mind. I just wish it weren't so expensive.
I value your opinion but I tried a Porsche PDK a Nissan 370Z auto and a few others and have always gone back to manual despite finding them very good.. it just gets so boring after a while.. that's just my opnion but I think you will find an unhealthy number of people agreeing. Too much automation. My fave Porsche would be the 991 S or Cayman GTS in manual and with no options a part from sports exhaust on the 911.

We are a dying breed...breaks my heart. So difficult to find manual transmissions now.

Actually I understand what jeff means. The paddle options are more appropriate for a performance oriented interface; it is an option on the car. I drove a 997.2 911 Turbo S and the owner swapped the thumb switches to the racing paddles. I am not a fan of the thumb paddles, either. To be honest, I am not a fan of PDK; it is one of the, if not THE best, dual clutch systems but I love the old school clutch and manual shifter. I know it is slower but who cares...it is so much fun and more challenging :-)
I do prefer paddle shifters instead of the integrated shifters embedded in the steering wheel. You can do a swap of the steering wheel for a later model steering wheel for a little over grand LOL ua-cam.com/video/atTFiuUfKyE/v-deo.html

Someone could tell me how is the exhaust sound when the PSE button is on the off position? Is the sound really similar to a 981 S that does not have the PSE option?
It does not matter most of the time, because the exhaust only opens at a certain RPM. So if you drive city and generally "normal", this does not matter. If you drive 2 gears lower than you really have to on a back road to have some fun, then it is more rowdy with the PSE... like any option, nice to have, not a drama if you don't. It really is a complete car already without any further options ;)
I dont know much about cars, but how do you rev paddle shifter manuals/PDK. On stick you hold the clutch but how is it done for the paddles? Thanks

I love my 370Z with manual transmission. It has its heritage, I am Japanese, etc and I got it. Good car for young man like me, but once I get more financially comfortable, I'd take pdk cars
