they used to scrap them in the JDM all the time- sometimes at less than 30K. skylines were never imported to north america. the front clips were usually available and they were dirt cheap.
we used to race datsun 2000s in d production at mid-ohio and nelsons ledges back in the 70's. you wouldn't believe all the parts we used to leave out for the trash haulers. we used to buy up rusty roadsters and strip them for their hard parts. U20 motors and the old 71A 5-speed OD transmissions.

we had roadster guys come by and just load up their trucks with the body parts. we couldn't really get much if anything for the parts cuz nearly all the local roadsters were rust-buckets.@@gaspumprob

I’m in Arkansas. I found a 1960 Datsun 1200 pickup here while I was looking for a 510. I almost bought it but it was a lot of work. I’m trying to finish my 1950 Mercury now. And strangely, I just go into pinball again. I have an old Bally’s Bow and Arrow machine now. I never thought about pinball swap meets. So I guess I’ll have to carve out some time to go one next year.
@@hem1kat We share a lot of interests ! I played many games on a Bow and Arrow growing up. Now I have over thirty games in my collection. So much fun! The old show in Oregon called Datsun Driving Canby Fun had so many roadsters i took a lot of my old obscure datsuns to that show also seen many datsuns you don't see.
@gaspumprob There is a second Datslocos show in October in the same place one of the members has a prestine white roadster haven't seen it at the show lately. I'm going to try to take one of mine if not fix my 87 Nissan Van and drive it down there.

My first car was a Datsun 1200 coupe (had i known then what I know now). I have a soft spot, you can say for Datsun (yes I know the reasons and history)... frankly Datsun is a far better name musically than Nissan but, Datsun was a part of peoples lifes... like mine.
Oh I thought I'd go back and take a look at this one again. Watch another time. My wife even watched it and said a couple of them we're nice. She talked about her dad had an old Datsun pickup. Of course it wasn't all that old when he had it back in the day. Apparently he really liked it and that's saying a lot for Union guy. It's safe to say he's a real donkey 🫏🫏🐴. He can laugh. Anyway I like the little wagon. Felt bad about the guy who got hit by another person running a red light. I'd forgotten you've got the door latches and front bumper for your pickup. When you showed it on that trailer being pulled it almost looks like it had a windshield in it. Pretty cool how these all painted up nice colors and what have you talking about the engine the details. And they put that 4.3 in a little pickup. Good grief how would you keep it on the ground. You need to have your pilot's license 🪪. Hey my wife said the engine look kind of big for the truck. I am not busting the guy for doing it. We used to put small block V8 into Vegas. that's when I was a kid when I was just a little bit older shall we say please put in 460s into Penn Station wagons and sometimes the runabouts. But I would say that little pickup with a 4.3 would be faster than anything we did with the vega. Thanks for bringing back some memories greatly appreciate it. 👍👍

That looked like an awesome car show. Shame about the orange wagon that got hit. One of my older siblings had a 510 2 door in that same color and I used to take it on drives around the neighborhood. That was a fun car.
Correction: Manufacturing dates for the 510 ran from late 68 to 1972. Datsun made another 510 run at the market in late 76 but but i was not nothing like the original icinoc Datsun 510. My history of the 510's runs deep in my life. It started for me in 79. I bought a used 69. Next i bought a 1972. Triple SSS parts were everywhere. Brock Yates and John Morton were done racing the 510 far by my late teens and the swap meets were ful of parts. Age 17 to 25 in southern California was my stint owning and building the 1st gen 510's. I dearly miss those days. They are days that are just to difficult now. There are no parts like there use to be. You may think there are plenty of parts avaliable buy absolutely nothing like my early 1979 introduction to the 510. In the late 70's early 80's they would fall in your lap. Can you imagine. It was a glorious time.

The orange 73 Datsun 610 sedan is my friends car he uses it as a daily driver/Cruiser. The 610 sits on air bags i actually got to drive it to the show. The damage in the rear is from a lady rear ending it.

Yes skidded to the end!!!! The engine is what I was looking for 13B rotary. I am still curious if you have a 12A or a 13B in your RX-7 . If it’s a 13B I am definitely interested in buying it from you as long as it’s not locked up with rust . Please let me know about that Datsun wagon for $850.00 Depending on rust that would be a fantastic deal ! I saw a lot of engine swapped Datsuns at the show. I bet several are fast. @@gaspumprob oh you're welcome on the comments. I think maybe everybody's off on the number of comments are getting. Yeah I mean when you see that Nissan engine and something from 1960. It's going to move it down the road. I think they called it the Rocky mountain race. I don't know if you watch his channel but his name is Chad and he south of adventures made-from-scratch Silas. He has a vintage junkyard and he's involved in this race and although it may not be a big thing it does look interesting. They convene on Kearney Nebraska and then from there they go to basically Denver and then we'll see where the race continues. Maybe they call it a race but it's more like a sightseeing trip. Seems like you're familiar Kearney Nebraska

Where do you live? I found a couple 510 complete wagons in a salvage yard near Phoenix Arizona last month.

there are some around san diego county, too, but a lot of them have stolen and taken to mexico
consider a sunny excellent as they can be had cheaply and can use the
L-series motor instead of the little tractor motors the 1200 used.

A little Mazda rotary pick up I've seen a few of them in my lifetime but nothing recently. And so you picked up the engine type that you were wanted on the rotary? Save classic cars and doesn't matter where they're made.
Yes skidded to the end!!!! The engine is what I was looking for 13B rotary. I am still curious if you have a 12A or a 13B in your RX-7 . If it’s a 13B I am definitely interested in buying it from you as long as it’s not locked up with rust . Please let me know about that Datsun wagon for $850.00 Depending on rust that would be a fantastic deal ! I saw a lot of engine swapped Datsuns at the show. I bet several are fast. It's going to move it down the road. I think they called it the Rocky mountain race. I don't know if you watch his channel but his name is Chad and he south of adventures made-from-scratch Silas. He has a vintage junkyard and he's involved in this race and although it may not be a big thing it does look interesting. They convene on Kearney Nebraska and then from there they go to basically Denver and then we'll see where the race continues. Maybe they call it a race but it's more like a sightseeing trip.
