RIP I grew up listening to his albums with my friend in the early '70's, His father had all of them! A lot of Jonathan's comedy rubbed off on me. A genuine , sincere, humble and overall nice man. Not many comedians can compare to him today. You will be missed.
I love to laugh...Jonathan Winters is one of the funniest comedians I've ever seen..or heard....his timing is perfect! And how he paints a picture of imagination is wonderful! I love watching him on Johnny Carson reruns...sure miss him.
OMG! This is the Jonathan Winters I remember. When i was in high school, when I saw in the T.V. Guide that Jonathan Winters was going to make an appearance, even if it was Saturday night, date, night (heh, heh), I would stay home wand watch it. The days before video tape, etc. Bought all his early albums. Non-stop imagination. Great, great natural talent.
well, well there is so much brilliant comedic havoc in here, one would love to quote a line, but there is so much going on for mere mortals to keep up!
No comedian could crack me up like Jonathan Winters, the guy was not of this world - of course not, he was from "Quasiland." Miss him, like I miss Robin Williams - pure improv genius.
how long you been flying? 41 years, "Hold old are you 41 years".. Haha... I drink always to and from the airport.. "Never while I'm flying" ... Jonathan Winters: Classic R.i.P San Diego, Ca
Can't add anything he is the greatest comedian of all times. Although I'm a great fan of Robin. Dean. Jerry. Bob. Abbott. And many others but Jonathan is the cream of top with the sounds he can make
I never laughed so hard until I watched "It's a mad, mad, mad, mad, world" the parts I always loved best were the ones with Jonathan Winters. Then came Robin Williams and it started all over again.
@tuxguys Good point, and I think your in many ways correct. His impact and influence on stand-ups was profound, to say the least. His ability to make sounds was groundbreaking.
He really is the root of everything we think of as "funny" today, isn't he? I do believe that he's the line of demarcation: Pre-Winters humor (which I also love), and Post-Winters humor (SNL, SCTV, Kids in the Hall, "Whose Line Is It, Anyway?," etc.) really says it all, doesn't it? (I also believe that he improvised every answer he gave, except the last one.) **spactick Good point, and I think your in many ways correct. what would you do if a woman on your plane was having a baby? oh i dont know, probably circle around a bit and hope she got over it. Kids take note, this is TRUE comedy.
Only one man can compare with J.W.. That would be Red Skelton. True comedy can be defined with these two men alone. Never using the crutch of foul language for a laugh. True artists both of them.
Yeah. Merth or Mirth from Earth, as opposed to Mork from Ork. Nannu nannu. I liked the part where Mork threw fresh eggs in the air, saying 'you're free, fly away'. JW was a great character in It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World.
This gem of a man is still alive and doing more than kicking --- check out his website! ... I wonder what he thinks of the so called "comedians" of this era??
RIP Jonathan. Thanks for the many, many years of humor you provided us. You were one of a kind.

I laugh a little less these days, now your gone, Jonathan. These film clips revive that laughter.
To make someone laugh as hard as Jonathan Winters makes me laugh every time is like a gift. There is no one better.

Thank you so very much, Jonathan. I needed that.
One of the best! Who says you gotta have vulgarity in standup comedy to make people laugh! There weren't too comedians many like Winters.
Kudos to the men who were feeding Winters straight lines. That couldn't have been easy and they pulled it off with aplomb.

So easy to see how he inspired Robin Williams. Birds of a feather, those two genius comedians. Heaven will never be funnier.
Andrew Graham Robin Williams was far from genius.
Winters was Robin Williams before Robin Williams was Robin Williams.
One of the greatest
OMG!!! I forgot about that. He was great in it.
Thanks for the laughter!
A Comedic Genius!!
"I never drink while flying . . . . . to and from the airport - yes . . . . but NEVER while flying!" Comedy gold-dust!

Should be on Mount Rushmore..JW is the Buddha of comedy. One of the best there is..timeless and a true original.
I never laughed so hard until I watched "It's a mad, mad, mad, mad, world" the parts I always loved best were the ones with Jonathan Winters. Then came Robin Williams and it started all over again.
I always thought Mr Winters had a passing resemblance to Babe Ruth
and General Norman Schwartzkof
I agree...but a sense of humor more like Yogi Berra!

Yeah. Merth or Mirth from Earth, as opposed to Mork from Ork. Nannu nannu. I liked the part where Mork threw fresh eggs in the air, saying 'you're free, fly away'. JW was a great character in It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World.
Yes indeed, and an ART which Groucho Marx always practiced!
He's not gonna shave he's legs for anybody, jajajaja!!!!
What a riot!!!!lol!!!
Does anyone know the Season / Episode of Mork and Mindy which features Jonathan Winters?
Funniest person to ever live.

JW used to be on Mork and Mindy (Robin Williams). Mork's child I think. Brilliant.
Gootenagen...it is your imagination because modern humor is ALL those things!...Winters rules!
One of the best...and let's don't forget about Ernie Kovacs...to me Groucho started it all.
He's not dead.
RIP
