These songs were incredibly beautiful, my favorites of the album. I'm pretty tired of editing videos so I'm going to take a break for a week or two, and when I come back I'll probably do TOOL alongside other artists just to mix it up and so I can get around to some other music I've wanted to check out. Thanks for everything!
He's kidding guys, he's gonna take a week or two to spiral out to the Lateralus album before he comes back to the mortal realm and continues making videos lol.
Yeah dude totally understand. Whenever you do go back into Tool would definitely recommend doing the albums as a whole like you did for this one. They're an album band, best listened to in one sitting, even if you release other material in between Tool tracks.
I honestly feel like reflection is one of the most underrated, overlooked TOOL songs in their entire discography. The trio together get mentioned alot but I particularly have such a love for Reflection
Yeah I think Reflection is my favorite, maybe tied with Third Eye. I think maybe Tool fans think of the end of the album as one big piece more than the songs in their individual parts. It's an absolutely incredible song, I think better than Lateralus, despite that one also being amazing.
Well I see what you mean, but reflection is the meat and potatoes of the holy trinity so it’s not really underrated per say, just not talked about on its own
reflection is the song that got me into tool because i was trippin shrooms and those lyrics hit me different i felt so intouch with the universe that day
Don't b mad I'm a big tool fan but never heard this, I mean how many albums do they have?, mm I might a heard this now that I hear this ......? Damn I love 💘 it
"And in my darkest moment, fetal and weeping The moon tells me a secret, my confidant As full and bright as I am This light is not my own and A million light reflections pass over me Its source is bright and endless She resuscitates the hopeless Without her, we are lifeless satellites drifting" 🙏🏻
And as I pull my head out I am without one doubt Don't want to be down here soothing my narcissism I must crucify the ego before it's far too late I pray the light lifts me out Before I pine away
this is going to be tight. I saw Tool in 2002 during the Lateralus tour and it's still the most amazing concert I have ever seen. Meshuggah opened for Tool and they came out during Triad and both bands jammed together. It was the closest thing to a religious experience I've ever had lol
I agree. Their later ones, he doesn't have the voice he did back then, he'd really honed his talents and power. 2001 and 2 were my first live tool experience. We were the two ends of their tour parabola.
I saw that tour as well and it was fucking mind-bending. When they all came out with drums for Triad is still one of the craziest things I've ever experienced.
I saw this tour in Australia, I have a vivid memory of being completely sober and TRIPPING BALLS!! it was like an acid trip, but no substances taken I swear 😅
Danny Carey wrote his master's thesis on sacred geometry and his kit is set up according to sacred geometry. Tool is very mathematical the song lateralus uses the fibernaci sequence.
I used to listen to this album front-to-back on long car trips with my family... somehow I'd always fall asleep during Disposition and then get woken up incredibly disoriented and confused as heck during Faaip de Oiad (that buzzing rant at the end of the album) lol. Happened so many times...
First time I heard Faaip de Oiad was back on a Walkman cassette player. I feel asleep and woke up to the phone caller getting frantic in my ears. My heart was racing, still in a dazed sleepy state but my consciousness was just budding. Crazy trip for a sober teenager! 🙃🤙🏾
On your comments about geometry in music, I know what you mean. Funny thing is, frequencies actually form geometric patterns. Check out some videos where they try out different frequencies on a table with salt on it. The salt forms into perfectly aligned, varied, and complex geometric patterns
I used to fall asleep to those 3 songs on my headphone while laying in bed in my late teenage years. I would just drift out of my misery and get into a trance. It's like a journey outside the self, taking you into outer space and then bringing you back down through the atmosphere, and at the end you're just floating in the ocean with a smile on your face.
Same here. The fact that progressive metal or whatever is you want to call it (mastery of music) can be relaxing enough to fall asleep to is a feat in and of itself
"And in my darkest moment, fetal and weeping The moon tells me a secret, my confidant As full and bright as I am This light is not my own and A million light reflections pass over me Its source is bright and endless She resuscitates the hopeless Without her, we are lifeless satellites drifting" The above lyrics are from Reflection and might be my favorite lyrics of all time.
You will probably be interested to know that Justin does have synesthesia. So does my boy Devin Townsend when you move on to covering some other artists. Also, Reflection is the still my favorite Tool song after all these years. Rosetta Stoned is right up there too.
i remember an interview with adam where he talks about his own synesthesia, is that what you are thinking of? or was definitely justin? in which case they both do, very interesting.
Well, now that you've finished the album, here's your next challenge: Listen to it on your own a handful of times. Once you've really absorbed it and gotten to know the songs, go find Lucy and talk to her. When things really get going, when you hear the call, put on Lateralus and let it do its thing. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on that. And remember, music isn't "like" magic, it IS magic.
I’ve never commented on a UA-cam video in my life but felt I had to let you know that it’s been a pleasure rediscovering these songs with you. You get it.
That last "song" is actually a recording of a guy who allegedly worked at area 51 that called into the Art Bell show. You can find a clearer recording on UA-cam
I have a friend who really hates tool and used the same sample in one of his songs without realizing that tool had used it. I gave him a lot of shit about covering a tool song.
I’m so glad you enjoyed Disposition as much as you did. Ever since you mentioned you were into tablas and esoteric philosophies, I had been patiently waiting for you to get to this track. Probably the most beautiful, concise, intimate, delicate song TOOL has ever made and you got it. I love putting this track on when I’m watching the sun set or just coming down from microdosing...
Here we gooo! Can't wait for you to take on 10K Days and Fear Inoculum next, many of my favorite songs are off those even if as far as full albums goes Tool have never topped Aenima or Lateralus imo. Although, these outstanding soundscapes that they created on Lateralus can be found at the same level on their latest record for sure.
Totally agree. Aenima and Lateralus cannot be touched as full albums (Aenima takes number one imo, but Lateralus is a fucking masterpiece) but certain tracks on 10000 Days and FI peak reeeeeeeaaaaallllly high.
God Adam's guitar at the end of Reflection is like the afterglow after sex. Fucking perfect. Great stoned reaction, I'm sure you thoroughly enjoyed this song (all three were wrote as one long song). I enjoyed your reaction, great video.
That's a great description! And I would add that when Adam comes in with the guitar at 19:57 is the beginning of a long and wonderful orgasm (which, unfortunately, our guy interrupted with his commentary)!
There is a live version of this song back when the album first came out. Adam's part at the end is extended for 1-2 minutes and it makes it even more euphoric. Maynard also sings a great melody at the beginning which still sends shivers down my spine.
I love watching these videos because everyone else I introduce to Tool, never actually listens to the music. They end up talking over it, or don’t actually pay attention to the music. So it’s good to see people who actually listen to the music and see how in depth it is.
The melody from : So crucify the ego, before it's far too late To leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical And you will come to find that we are all one mind Capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable Just let the light touch you And let the words spill through And let them pass right through Bringing out our hope and reason has been stuck in my head permanently for about 20 years now. I listened to the album on mushrooms and that part was one of my "peaks" and basically changed my perspective forever. the melody comes into my head randomly and stays there for a couple of hours. its like a recurring acid flashback, but the symptoms are that i hear this part of "reflection" on repeat.
Listening to this album stoned is such an experience. You feel it on so many levels. I like watching you react to them. I vicariously experience it for the first time again.
In response to your thoughts on music and its relation to us as humans....save for few other very specific things, truly great, authentic music is capable of almost bridging the infinite but ephemeral gap between one's own consciousness and someone elses. For me, these tracks and several other tool songs reach that status....and honestly its the ultimate goal of music in my opinon.
The Triad (Disposition-Relfection-Triad) is definitely my favorite Tool composition of them all. They run the full range of their abilities from soft and contemplative to dark and brooding to rawness and rage.
Its nice to see that you put these 3 songs together, since their overall meaning belong together. Disposition, Reflection and Triad are basically describing the cycle of human life and the whole universe. We are new born stars, finding our way in the universe (Disposition) We find gravity to get influenced by and reflect our behaviour by killing the ego in the best way (Reflection). Finally we've reached enlightemend and celebrate Life by crushing old systems. (Triad) ...and cycle goes on.. I actually cried like a baby when i came to this discovery and digged deeper into the lyrics. Nice to see you feeling the vibe.
I just love the way the musical themes and ideas from Disposition interweave and then return full throttle in Reflection ,a song with an entirely different groove and vibe but it just WORKS on so many levels. Reflection is my favorite Tool song just because of the absolute portal to another dimension it just takes you on. You truly will hear this song dozens of times and still be hearing details and uncovering meaning.
Smoking on some sour Diesel myself, been enjoying watching you man The holy Trinity especially reflections is just amazing Been enjoying this trip so far man, keep going
There's something very special about watching people react to Tool. You're almost reliving the same experiences and feelings from when you listened to it the first time. BTW, your timing for hitting the pipe couldn't have been better. Reflection is the best track to be high on. 👏❤️
When I was a teenager, feeling down, I would go out to the cliffs and watch the waves break against the shore, listening to disposition/reflection. I never really got into the lyrics, but the melodies relaxed like nothing else. At some point I learned the lyrics; they uplift, they point to purpose. It's still where I go when I'm feeling down. The most similar feeling I've gotten from music is shpongle, and now Lucid Planet Thank you for your reaction!
“Freezing information, feelings, experience and feedback from the Universe into Music “ awesome way to describe this journey! .... also, this is not the last time you will hear about Area 51!
I used to eye roll HARD at reaction videos but yours are somehow different, and really something special. I'm simultaneously envious that you get to experience Tool for the first time, which of course all of us commenting here have, but your commitment and intention and presence are such a joy to watch. You're really here for it. It's almost like I get to relive the first times I experienced Tool at each step of their discography through viewing your experience. And I bet those of us who have been following along on your Tool journey were having similar reactions while you heard these absolutely incredible songs in particular. I found myself rocking out, of course, but also saying to myself (and perhaps aloud to you) "No dude! Just wait! Here comes the part that is going to turn your reality inside out and flip you back around again!" and then you hear it, and we see you smile and welp, we're smiling too, man. Thanks for this!
Reflection is my favorite TOOL song ever released. The entire album is absolutely incredible. Thank you for enjoying this with us! I am glad to see that you were moved by the "Holy Trinity" of music. Much love, Shaman!
I just got a bass in January. Do it, you'll love it. Edit: I got the bass because I started listening to music (tool), and not just hearing it. I then needed to know how it's made so I decided to learn an instrument. I've always loved bass so I picked it. I'm also 46 years old so it's never too late to learn.
I'm 46 and just started playing bass for the first time. My husband got it for me a couple of years ago and I just wasn't feeling it at the time. Then I heard Fear Inoculum and Pneuma and had to figure out how to recreate those bass lines.
There's a reason those songs blend together so well, it was written as one song. It only got split into 3 to satisfy contractual agreements on how many songs were necessary to be considered an album (same with parabol/parabola). And the sound over the final track was a recording of Danny's amp dying.
I have really enjoyed your journey, its so utterly honest. I first experienced this album on a very long bus ride, listened to it on repeat. It became too real.
I like to view these 3 songs as a long roadtrip, Disposition is the beginning of the trip, watching the weather change out of the passenger window, from sunny to rainy. Reflection is the overnight trek of the journey, where the wild thoughts and darkness awaits, and Triad is the sunrise and end of the journey, with a new understanding and appreciation of the true nature of this life around you.
Have you checked out Jon Kew yet? He is pretty spot on with Danny covers. Same energy, power, sound, it's pretty amazing. Especially because the only drum cam we have is Pneuma.
Disposition is one of my favorites , almost seperate from tool entirely , it’s so soothing and introspective and weird hahahah it is bitter sweet , you can feel the passing of time , but also in the moment. I listen to this in nature a lot
I sincerely hope you get the opportunity to see them live man. You’ve been touched by the Mantras of Maynard and the music of TooL. So awesome to see someone feel this music it brings back all the emotion from a personal perspective. Cheers man and thanks for being real!
Excellent reaction. I'm on that same page with seeing/feeling geometry while hearling music. I always perceive shapes and textures when hearing sounds and those that Tool produces within that manifestation in me is like no other, and I often think how these things they've created have already been living inside me. It's pretty crazy, and I'm sure others and you yourself feel the same way. It's like they've somehow made a blueprint of the wavelength of my mind and body. But really it's the wavelength of creation and being that they've tapped into, and we relate so strongly because it's a blueprint of all nature. And of course Tool aren't the only musicians doing this but man, they're doing it so well.
Dude, I totally agree with every stoner revelation and reaction you're having to this while I'm also here watching and listening to this with some fresh ears from being stoned too haha. Holy mother! I somehow feel like I didn't fully realize how magnificent Tool's music is, and I've been in love with it for over 17 years. I think something clicked in me tonite, and I'm hearing so much in the music that I somehow missed before... and it all looks very visual to me while I hear it too! I feel like I'm hearing it in the way you're hearing it, cuz your faces match how it's making me feel. Spiral out, man. Thank you for sharing this!
I see these 3 songs as the following: You find yourself the disposition to put things in motion, collect yourself; then you reflect on everything that you find necessary to do in your life. Then Triad hits and it hits harder than the previous two, my reasoning being is that now is time for tribulations and it ain't pretty to endure what life throws at all most of the time. But there comes a time where the storm will pass, hence the way it ends.
I was a kid, before I started smoking and drinking, listening to this masterpiece in my dark room. I remember tripping on this art, in my head. It’s a moment I will forever be grateful for.
Honey, you were made for TOOL and their transcendent message. I am so thrilled you discovered them. There is NO other band this in tune to the universal vibrations that exist within and without us all. 💚🌀
Thankyou! I have enjoyed watching these with you thus far :) and partaking ;) I dont think anyone listens to the last track for enjoyment, but it has taken me this many years to realise that it is an expression of what is to come in 10,000 days. Looking forward to watching you make your way through that!
I've listened to these songs countless times and I've never really worried about what the lyrics were. I, too, just experience them. I think I'll actually look them up after this...
Glad you’re taking a break, I’m sure it’s tedious! We will be patiently waiting for the next album! Only two left and then you HAVE to do all of the band members side projects 😂. Kidding...but not really 😡
D/R/T are some of the simplest songs in Tool's catalog, in terms of arrangement, melody, and time signatures, but its my favorite 20min of music I have ever heard. The production and engineering is masterful, the rhythm section is fantastic. I interpret Reflection's lyrics as overcoming Depression and self improvement. "I have come curiously close to the end, down Beneath my self-indulgent pitiful hole Defeated, I concede and Move closer I may find comfort here I may find peace within the emptiness How pitiful"
What I love about these 3 songs is that it is upbringing composition, starting at lowest point, through climax near the end of reflection, and then to speechless energetic burst
You are first reaction to the Holy Trinity that actually listened to it the correct way, seamlessly (especially Disposition into Reflection) the way the album intended. Danny’s stick gravity (that’s what I like to call it) transition is so damn cool but everyone doesn’t feel it because they stop and play the songs separately. Nice job. Enjoyed it
Man you remind me so much of my friend I haven t spoken to in a long time. Super chill. I really thought it was cool how you mentioned a hive mind feeling before the words "we are all one mind" subbed
These songs were incredibly beautiful, my favorites of the album. I'm pretty tired of editing videos so I'm going to take a break for a week or two, and when I come back I'll probably do TOOL alongside other artists just to mix it up and so I can get around to some other music I've wanted to check out. I can't believe you're gonna make us wait for 10k days just like tool made us wait. 🤣🤣🤣
Check out Maynards other bands, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer. Lots of great content out there my man.
He's kidding guys, he's gonna take a week or two to spiral out to the Lateralus album before he comes back to the mortal realm and continues making videos lol.

reflection is the song that got me into tool because i was trippin shrooms and those lyrics hit me different i felt so intouch with the universe that day
Reflection is my 2nd favorite after Pushit.
"..the fact that I'm thinking about that kind of stuff from this music, definitely means it's pretty awesome" - Perfect stoned reaction! hahah
You sound like a chill dude. Would friend

Word. I have a long time friend who blass bass. Showed him this, but I don't think he found it as special as we do. 🥲
"This is feeding my brain, that's all I have to say...." Priceless!👍👍🤘🤘💯💯💥💥
I’m pretty sure Danny Carey the drummer of tool has a similar idea of the relationship of geometry and music.
Yeah I think so too
Music is frequencies of vibrations/math. Math is connected to geometry. Therefore, geometry and math connect also
Reflection is a masterpiece.
Don't b mad I'm a big tool fan but never heard this, I mean how many albums do they have?, mm I might a heard this now that I hear this ......? Damn I love 💘 it

It's been a joy experiencing it with you x

most fantastic lyrics ever written
Perhaps my favourite lyrics from TOOL, which is saying a lot, considering that great lyrics define Tool as a band from the very beginning!
Yup favourite lyrics on this album by far. Poetry.

I never really got into the lyrics, but the melodies relaxed like nothing else. At some point I learned the lyrics; they uplift, they point to purpose. It's still where I go when I'm feeling down.
The most similar feeling I've gotten from music is shpongle, and now Lucid Planet
Thank you for your reaction!
Reflection is my Favorite Song...when you get the chance look up the lyrics ..in my opinion..Maynard is the greatest poet of our time
LMAO
I just got a bass in January. Do it, you'll love it.
Edit: I got the bass because I started listening to music (tool), and not just hearing it. I then needed to know how it's made so I decided to learn an instrument. I've always loved bass so I picked it.
I'm also 46 years old so it's never too late to learn.
I really didn't pat much attention to the bass in songs. Till i heard tool. And justin just does so much creative things. Amazing
I'm 47. Been pickin and grinnin since I was 21. It's never too late. Danny is in his 60's and still drummin away
Here we goooooo!!!
I knew this one was gonna make you giddy :) it has all "your " elements for awesome
Tool possesses the power to put you into so many different head spaces. The Holy Trinity rounded out this album beautifully.
Have you checked out Jon Kew yet? He is pretty spot on with Danny covers. Same energy, power, sound, it's pretty amazing. Especially because the only drum cam we have is Pneuma.
“This is the coolest shit I’ve ever heard”
That is correct.
This is TOOL at their best. I could hardly wait for you to get to this
This is GD best music while stoned
By Far The Best Reactions To TOOL.
Don't Stop Now.
10,000 Days.
Spiral Out. Keep Going.
🌀
Reflections is definitely from an alien mind. I can’t wait for you to get into the new album.
Reflection is amazing and I interpret it as breaking out of a deep depression as well as breaking down one's ego.
Who else made it here at 4:15am? Perfect timing. I’ll join ya for the ride brotha. The trinity is my favorite!
Yes sir, Reflection is definitely one of my top Tool songs. 10000 Days is coming around soon!
😂😂😂That hit you hard at the beginning 🤣
Disposition is one of my favorites , almost seperate from tool entirely , it’s so soothing and introspective and weird hahahah it is bitter sweet , you can feel the passing of time , but also in the moment. I listen to this in nature a lot
you should try that with Intension. I personally get similar vibes in that song.
@@PhillinRoyal way ahead of ya .....

I find myself laughing at Danny's percussions ALL. THE. TIME. So cool!
I sincerely hope you get the opportunity to see them live man. You’ve been touched by the Mantras of Maynard and the music of TooL. So awesome to see someone feel this music it brings back all the emotion from a personal perspective. Cheers man and thanks for being real!
So glad I got to see them last year before all this crap.
That's what Danny Carey uses is scared geometry in the drumming
This is feeding my brain...
Nailed it ❤
I see these 3 songs as the following: You find yourself the disposition to put things in motion, collect yourself; then you reflect on everything that you find necessary to do in your life.
As a teenager, I used to put reflection on my crappy phone as I went to bed. I rarely even heard the lyrics before I went asleep, so relaxing ^^
Me too. And in long ass showers. Lol
Triad is absolutely without a doubt my favorite instrumental track ever made
Honey, you were made for TOOL and their transcendent message. I am so thrilled you discovered them. There is NO other band this in tune to the universal vibrations that exist within and without us all. 💚🌀
Thankyou! I have enjoyed watching these with you thus far :) and partaking ;)
I dont think anyone listens to the last track for enjoyment, but it has taken me this many years to realise that it is an expression of what is to come in 10,000 days. Looking forward to watching you make your way through that!
I've listened to these songs countless times and I've never really worried about what the lyrics were. I, too, just experience them. I think I'll actually look them up after this...
Hilarious watching him try to groove to the static, classic.
Glad you’re taking a break, I’m sure it’s tedious! We will be patiently waiting for the next album! Only two left and then you HAVE to do all of the band members side projects 😂. Kidding...but not really 😡
Currently my favourite music of all time… been listening to it for 22 years and it just keeps getting better
in my personal TOOL playlist on Spotify, that very last song precedes Lost Keys and Rosetta Stoned, 'cus it fits so well.
You have now completed the Holy Trinity. Next level you will get to survive Rosetta Stoned and make sure you get extra crispy for that track!
Yeah and don't forget about getting extra crispy.
Ph and dont forget to get extreamly chrisp
Get the bass. They inspired me to get one many moons ago. Still learning their catalogue after 20 years
D/R/T are some of the simplest songs in Tool's catalog, in terms of arrangement, melody, and time signatures, but its my favorite 20min of music I have ever heard. The production and engineering is masterful, the rhythm section is fantastic.
I interpret Reflection's lyrics as overcoming Depression and self improvement.
"I have come curiously close to the end, down
Beneath my self-indulgent pitiful hole
Defeated, I concede and
Move closer
I may find comfort here
I may find peace within the emptiness
How pitiful"
What I love about these 3 songs is that it is upbringing composition, starting at lowest point, through climax near the end of reflection, and then to speechless energetic burst
It's a great vibe for sure ...toked as well , love the airyness
Enjoyed this series a lot. Thanks dude.
Listening to triad with the 3/4 feel is so much groovier, essential imo
