Good on you Hank. I learned from my family long ago that helping neighbors should never involve money, just kindness, fellowship, and a covered dish or pie.
Right on 👍
And cookies
Well stated Brian
@@user-bn8hz8wh3i? No milk with your cookies? You got to be kidding! Lol
Amen sir.
Neighbors helping neighbors sure makes life go a lot better and it'll pay off in the future . Your a kind man Hank . Great video .
Hank, you are a kind man for not charging a fee as you learned how to run the grinder. That machine is a beast and you will gain many customers as soon as they find out you do a professional stump grinding job. Blessings to you.
Thank you
Hank, I can’t think of better human beings than you and Calvin. You are both a credit to humanity. What great neighbors ! May God richly blessed you both !
Thanks 👍
This is Russ ! I don't comment but once in awhile someone like you deserves a Big Thumbs up !!
Thank you
Good neighbors hard to beat.
Hey Hank, paint your self a line on the side that in in the center of the cutter. Then you should be able to see where you are cutting easier. I love your videos!!
That's a good idea 👍
I’m sure you kept the stumps tall for demonstration purposes, but if I was doing this as a business I’d chainsaw those stumps down low and than grind them down, safe time and ware on you and your equipment. I’m sure you already know this. lol! Nice video!
I think Calvin's wife may get a Bobcat and cutter for her birthday😂😂😂.
That is awesome, I do the same thing Hank, I enjoy working on my equipment helping neighbors and friends. I don't take money from them!!!!!!!!!!!
Your a good man the world needs more people like you.
Nice job and God bless those who are helping the neighbors out good job and God bless y'all
😁👍
I run a stump grinding business and there are some tricks to it I learned.
Grind the side of the stump nearest you first and go down in sweeps to the bottom in dirt, that way you are cutting with the grain of the wood, don't go directly down from the top as that is cutting across the grain and it takes way longer, your teeth wont last as long, its harder on the machine, its also the cause of the head bouncing which is due to too much of the radius of the cutting wheel in wood, this also causes the wood to get hot and harden making the job even harder for the teeth to cut and shortening their life.
Get rid of the hood at the front it serves no purpose in open areas and stops you sweeping on the side of the stump as suggested above.
Dont raise the boom up and expose the door to flying debris, stumps can have all sorts of things hidden in them like stones and metal that you dont want fired at the door so keep the boom low between you and the cutting head. I wear shin guards and padded pants doing it as I've been hit a few times and that's just a small machine.
Once you have ground the side of the stump to about the 3/4 of it, move the wheel ahead of the stump so you are cutting with the back of the wheel upwards.
If you keep going on the side to the far edge cutting with the front of the wheel once you hit the root flair on the back side you will be cutting across grain so back cutting gets you back to cutting with the grain which is much faster and easier on the machine and teeth.
Also use a chainsaw to block the stump to near ground before grinding, it saves loads of time and tooth wear, far cheaper to sharpen chains than replace grinder teeth.
👍
Great job! Blessings to the both of you!
Nice addition Hank. Set in cool ac cab and grind. Looks like a great way to do it. Grinder looks like a beast
WE can use more of this kindness God Bless
I am soooo proud of Yawl's friendship! I'm smiling so "BIG"!!!
What a great neighbor 👍🏼
😁
Neighba 😊
He sees all, Hank. God bless. TFS
❤Good neighbours helping oneanother is the best!
Sweet grinder! Beats burning that stump and risking root fire.
Hank maybe try finding a spot to mount a wireless camera on the side of the grinder in a spot that you can see the cutting wheel with a screen inside the cab that might help out ...
Maybe a dashcam would do, if placed inside a weather proof box, with a clear lid.
Running it's cable back to the cab would only require an extension lead for the VRC monitor function as well as the power lead, as later you can simply swap out the mini disc, memory card thingie.
That's was a good thing you did for the brother man Hank Williams God bless you and yours how about you Hank um Ronnie perdue in melvindale Michigan
Thank you Hank. That machine sounds like the cartoon Tasmanian devil😂😂😂.
I think Calvin might be a natural at this 👍
I paid a guy 450 to do a 12" willow tree stump. But if you ever dug a stump out, 450 is cheap, not to mention he had to haul his equipment to my house and probably took 2 hours with travel. My body thanked me.
Hey Hank, that looks like a great setup. I have a woodland mills Pto driven for the tractor, done over 200 stumps. Not sure what the soil is probably sand where your at. I have mostly clay and some rocks and it's hard on the teeth. Keep some spare teeth in stock, you will be able to tell when they get worn. Good job!
Thats what friends do for each other love it two good men
I worked at a Napa store years ago and we had a big sign over the counter PRICES CHANGE ACCORDING TO CUSTOMERS ATTITUDE.
lol
6:20.
Here's a thought, as you said depth perception from above, and "position" of the stump after you grind it to ground level?
BEFORE you start, use an updown type road spray can, to mark a line through the stump, far out to either side, as well as a line from the stump, directly ahead of your machine, about 2-3M either way.
Then when you have a lot of mulching and dirt there, you can still see where the stump was, to grind it accurately, plus a couple of stakes either side, that have a stringline between them, will give you depth perception regards how low your machine head is, in relation to that string line, especially if you make the top of the line/stakes level with the height of the machine head, when sitting on the ground.
That way, as you mulch down onto the stump, the stringline ahead of you will provide you the nescessary "height profiles" you are after.
Later when well knowledgable in using this, it will be a natural memory, as to how high or low, you are stump grinding anything else, without needing either the paint, or the string.
Neighbors helping neighbors! 👍
Great video, great heart! God bless you both
Thank you!
My kind of neighbor!
My number one thing! Life is about Planting good seeds.........
Hank You are a good Man.
dang Hank... I used to have a pto powered grinder, but my 24 hp Deere was too small for it... now I just need to get a little smaller one for it,, you gave me the fever. haha Lets go Brandon
Great job Hank. Cool tool.
Thanks 👍
2:29 And, if you have never seen any of those others, nor your own videos, I'll just skip along the timeline as that's all pomp and yack to me,
I'm not just miles away, but a complete PACIFIC ocean away - so "bomberlite" means zip to me also.
I'm just here to see it work.
Mount a flag on the guard like plow trucks do with snow plow blade. Help with depth perception
I had several implements for my bobcat. Back in the early 90s I charged $60/hour with a 2 hour minimum. I had the roto tiller that was great for horse arenas.
👍
This is way more than a good neighbor that equipment is expensive and fuel ain't cheap let alone your time
Notice the way Calvin slid the Dollas in his pocket
Good work mate
That's a nice attachment for your machine! I have a manual stump grinder that I don't use real often because it's such a workout! It does basically the same thing with a much smaller cutting wheel, and the side-to-side motion is all "me" created.
One thought... perhaps use some bright colored tape or maybe a paint pen to mark and give you a reference as far as where the center of the cutting wheel is?
Good idea
Hey Hank from a side angle it looks like a duck pecking the ground. It's cool
What a nice pair of gentlemen you are.
Very nice of you. Wondering why they left the high stumps ?
I'm using same thing but on 3PT on tractor. Like guy said, you gotta not get stuck in the bowl or it bogs down...move forward or backward to knock off the edges. After getting down to the ground and everything is covered with woodchips, it becomes guesswork as to where to grind. I use the bucket or shovel to move the chips out of the way. The stump is a good 2-3 times bigger below grade with big roots going off....getting it down to grade is the easy part and then doing 6-8 inches below grade is the hard part. First 1/2 rows of teeth on the outer edge of the rotor take the most beating...mine nearly shot after like 5 huge stumps...one that was 42 inch diameter on top (4 trees going together) and like 6+ feet wide below grade took me all day (realistically like 5-6 hours). I got a backhoe and on the fence what's faster...anything 24+ inches on top probably best of grinding, but anything smaller can probably dig up similar speed (NP to dig a stump in 30 minutes). Honestly not too impressed with the grinder...it's kind of a pain to use and crude...the bolts holding teeth worn down and loose... makes me wonder if I can even replace the teeth to see if it works better.
👍
Well done
You a good dude 😊
Love it.
This is an entertaining video and I learned a bit too.
I have a grinder much like yours. I always cut the stump to ground level, makes for much less grinding.
Good stuff 💯 right there 👍
Thanks 👍
Mount a camera so you can see cutter inside cab
Great Job
i see you got them action crocs on getting after it. Lets go
Locked them in 4WD
If you cut it off as close to the ground as possible before grinding, it would save you a LOT of grinding time and ware & tare on the grinder.
MAYBE PUT A CAMERA UNDER THE BOOM SO U CAN SEE WHAT THE BLADE IS DOINT-MAYBE EVEN ONE OF THOSE BACK UP CAMS
Hank, have you replaced your door glass in your BobCat with the unbreakable glass. It would only take once, and you could be hurt really bad. That thing should be a money maker for you.
Yes. It has the forestry door.
God bless you back
That's what she said!
*SUGGESTION:*
We took two angle hardware and screwed them into the sides of our Baumalight Grinders with self tapping screws. Then we use fiberglass driveway marking rods (orange) drilled through and angled towards the blade on both sides. *When my workers are in the cab they can see the rods move...showing them where the blade is compared to the stump/ground. A simple marker to draw notches onto the poles. Just like a tractor bucket level indicator...but angled & on hinges.* Another option is a remote camera, but we tried that and our workers were crashing into objects focusing too much on the camera, rather than their surroundings.
Awesome 👏
The skid steer version is deffinitely better than the tractor mounted one. *****
No rocks? They would bust your door out!
You'll never be able to see the tips of the blades when you have the boom right in front of your view, with a 60% swing have the boom in the position where you can look down the side of the boom and see the blades.
How about WiFi reversing camera set up on your lower left and mounted in your cab
Still needs a POWER CORD (unless you fit a battery pack there too) so corded it is / thus anything will do.
I'd have to raise or remove that deflector on the front.
It does fold back or come off
What is it just like a carbide bit blade like a CNC or something lol?
thats how its works out in the country. neighbor helping neighbor
That's right👍
That ain't stumps...it's sticks of pulpwood.
For light small jobs it may do you ok but I'm guess you will want something bigger & lots stronger .Good luck
This is commercial grade for a skid steer... it's a beast. Don't mistake my inexperience with the machine's capabilities
Hank aren't a couple of those trees trunks not stumps ?
Yeppers
Put a wireless camera on the side so you can see what you’re doing
It’s a stump grinder not a tree feller take a chainsaw for a start cheaper then a stumper grinder
I have to admit that I really don’t know anything about this equipment, but I am very surprised how fine the stumps and roots are ground. This thing makes wood chips without further processing. Another thing that surprises me is the height of the stumps. Is there a reason for that? Seems like a waste to me. Just a little trivia: Baum is the German word for tree. We pronounce it kinda like „ba-oom“. Love your attitude ❤😅
13:00 Even a 6" round MIRROR, similar to a M/C mirror, mounted to the side of the head which allows you to see down from the top, will suffice as a "watching the teeth working" device, which (if you accidentally knock it off, will be easier, and cheaper to replace than a costly wireless camera, but which) will stay there providing downwards vision, no matter how long your working day is, as it's not only wireless, it's powerless and yet for one's eyesight - is always on. (unless it gets knocked off).!!!!!
Tractor time wit tim
C&C Equipment in Nashville, Indiana sells Bomolite equipment. If you need anything let them know.
I will be at his place in a few days. Stay tuned for that video. Clint's a good dude.
@@hhamilton1970 yes they are and maybe make Mrs C day and say Hi, and give Kevin a hard time as well 😂
Free?? Okay now do the next 50 acres - Doh!
I have one made by quick attatch. I can see my grinding teeth.
i think your buddy there had something runnig the lift high and the angle pointing down where you can see the bottom of the blade i have never ran a stump grinder that said i could be 100% WRONG in saying that
I had a big 4' pine stump ground in my front yard. He did a great job but it took me several days and truckloads of to clean up the mess. Then a lot of dirt to gill the hole. Would have been better to have an excavator dig ot out.
I am not a fan of stump grinding on small stumps. It is better to pull them out. Grinding is for mammoth stumps. Ground stumps leave a big chunk in the ground that invites termites.
id use A Digger
Our crew only does stumps 6ft or higher. Why use an old chain saw to do the bulk of the work faster and cheaper when you can run your stump grinder for days on end grinding a 8ft stump down close to ground level?
I like your friend. Get hi. In more. Videos. !!!!
Having some one who owes u a favour is a gold mine we all need favours at some time 👍
I moved to eastern Europe from the US. Offering to pay/charge a neighbor here is disrespectful. They will not accept a dime. If you try to hand them money they will just smile and give you a hug.
i want to hear the noisy machine i dont want to hear music
Wanted to see stump grinding but I can't handle the music.
Skip to the parts with no music... I put long sections in there with no music just for viewers like you. 👍👍
$25 bucks per stump? What part of Florida do you live again? 🤑
Could you not put a go pro somewhere on the underside of the machine so you can see the level of the blade on your phone?
hank maybe mount a wireless camera on the roof looking down while your stump grinding. definitely give a view of what your doing when its limited
Good idea
Who would leave a three or four foot tree sticking out of the ground before grinding unless they are nuts
As an old stump grinder that machine is dangerous. He can not see what how deep or what he is cutting in to rocks pipes ???/
Once you learn how to use it you can. Remember it was my first time
I don't know I just think different. They could taking that stump out with a chainsaw and save themselves a whole hell of a lot of money. Some people just have more money than sense.
I enjoy these American Vids ,But Boy ! cant they YAP ! -More rabbit than Sainsburys
Aren't you supposed to cut the stumps as low as possible?🤔
Yeah sub surface. This will cut 10" below ground level.
@@hhamilton1970 I think @tcmits3699 means chainsaw the stumps to surface level, then hit it with the grinder. This saves the grinders teeth from chewing on wood that is easily removed with a swipe of the chainsaw.
Oh yeah, definitely can do that too.
@@themichaelcreed Thanks TMC that's exactly what I meant, that stump grinder was impressive, though
@@hhamilton1970 No, he meant "cut them" with a chainsaw, before you grind.
