  • Thanks to Wenzlaff Performance I was lucky enough to get my hands on one of the brand new Hygear Suspension linkage kits for the IGX rear skid! We all know by now that the Hygear linkage kit for the Pro-CC works incredibly well, it's time to see if they worked their magic on this IGX kit as well. The install was SUPER easy and everything fit up perfectly.
    The timing of this worked out perfectly as I'd already had my skid out and all torn apart to replace my rails and make some upgrades including extra cross braces and some AWESOME upgraded HD torsion spring mounts for Fabrication APM!
    I'm hoping to get out on this thing this weekend and find some rideable snow, fingers crossed!

    Can't wait to see the test ride and tuning, great work bud! I'm definitely in the market for this, have a '17 144" SP that I just installed 2" walker hi/los in and she is a wheelie machine now, compared to the plain jane Fox factory setup, so I'm very interested to see how this Hygear linkage setup works..

      I'll keep everyone in the loop with a ride review as soon as I can get it edited and uploaded. Got a bit of a back log content wise to get through but I'm working on it

    Been waiting to see if HyGear was going to do an IGX upgrade. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it. Looks like my next sled choice is going to be even harder!

      Headed out tomorrow to get it on the snow (hopefully)! I have a lot of shop content to get edited and posted first but will do my best to get things out as quickly as I can

    If you want to add the rail braces back in, just get them off of a 17+ assault they're a direct bolt in. Or if it's still available the HD skid kit out of the Polaris accessory catalog, came with extra rear idlers and rail braces for the sks

      This is AWESOME info! Thank you for this. IF these rails stay in it I will definitely be looking into that. I was debating making my own of some sort as well but if I can save that time, that would be awesome.

    I’ve heard this and the long torsion spring is real nice, what do you think? Shock re-valve?

    • @MunsonMotorsports
      @MunsonMotorsports  5 місяців тому +1

      Unfortunately there is no long tail spring option for the IGX/Assault, but on a Pro-CC (like my 650 build) skid the long tails are a must do upgrade in my opinion. Pro-CC linkage kit requires a shock revalve, I did not revalve my shocks for this linkage in my Assault and it worked incredibly well. It truly transformed the rear of the sled and brought it up another notch, this linkage truly works!

    What do you have there for some type of transfer block

      I have a Zbros KISS RMK coupler that goes in sometimes for straight line racing.

      That's an Ice Age "anti-stab kit" relocated to the middle of the skid to help as a brace as well. iceageperformance.com/products/anti-stab-wheel-kit

    Are you running the 2” velocity RTS? Do you know if the HyGear linkage fits with the 2” shock? I have a new RTS from the 600 cross country i am planning on putting on.

    • @MunsonMotorsports
      @MunsonMotorsports  5 місяців тому +1

      The shock I'm currently running and that's in the videos is indeed a 2" CC rear shock! It clears the link rods just fine, this whole kit fit extremely well with no clearance issues! The Pro-CC linkage is very tight on idler wheel clearance but I would almost say this IGX one is perfect.

    If u were to buy another turbo trail sled, would u go with the 146 again or go 137. I get one is uncoupled and one isn't. But is the 146 really a good trail sled

    • @MunsonMotorsports
      @MunsonMotorsports  5 місяців тому +1

      That's a great question. The 146/IGX/Assault is an incredibly fun sled, it can be made to be a great trail sled, but it takes a lot of work and the patience to get the setup right including going outside the "norm" as these are different animals. I believe most people would be better off with a 137" for a dedicated trail rig, they will just simply take less work to perform with less rider demand/effort. Depending on 2025 release and what some channel partners want to do next year, I'm debating a 137" build of some sort with a good bit of hodge podgery as usual to achieve what I want. That said I love my Assault, but it's taken a lot to get it where it is and I did NOT love it out of the box.

      @@MunsonMotorsports even the 144s I'm seeing less of it seems. Idk how people say these are such a great trail sled that ride them basically box stock

    How many miles on that sled?

    • @MunsonMotorsports
      @MunsonMotorsports  4 місяці тому +1

      That isn't normal wear for any skid, most of it was from a malfunctioning shock due to a previous shop/rebuild...however it had just over 3000 miles on it when I did this video/swap process.

      The smaller "anti-stab" kit ones or the oem polaris ones? I ran the anti-stab ones in a Doo for about 2k miles without issues other than the ice tearing them up. Time will tell! Conditions aren't great out there right now but we're still gonna let it rip!

    • @ewaschuk802

      The Poo wheels. We ride the same style and places, they won’t last. The spokes are hollow thin wall abs they turn circle into flats.
