After riding Cats the last 20 years, the transition to my 23 Matryx 9R has been seamless. I love many things about it, some you covered. My biggest complaint is the de-rate of motor if you happen to touch the brake under full throttle. That's going to get someone hurt if/when climbing a big chute
You sound happy, congratulations. I finally put some time on my trail sled. Matryx platform is nice. The screen is fantastic. I have the original first factory GPS on my 2015, this one is much nicer.
Unfortunately/fortunately for you this sled is the right choice this season. This thing works great in lower elevation and low snow conditions, but "normal" seasons out in western Canada (Revy and Golden) this sled comes up short on steep and deep days. Riders really need to look at what type of rider they are and what conditions they ride in. I have ridden the 9R and own a turbo, I will always pick the extra weight of the turbo, but if money wasn't an issue, why not have both!
Yep, depends on where and who you’re riding with. We all have NA sleds for the most part and this one is definitely the go to sled. I’d want a Khaos Boost 165 325 if I was trying to keep up in Revy!
I have the 2.75 track in the previous year's Khaos 9R , but I've had them all. I prefer the Pro in deeper snow, it tracks so much better. But here in the NW we have so many more days of thin snow or you transition to crust on an exposed aspect. The Pro takes a big effort to get and hold an edge in those conditions. The Khaos is very easy. I'd like it if Polaris had an adjustable limiter strap. Having to choose one sled and given that I prefer tree riding, I'm on a Khaos. Climbing is a problem sometimes. As far as the 9R goes, it's snappy and I won't go back. Good review.
I live in the red river valley of North Dakota, some of the flattest land on planet earth, you can watch your dog run away for a week so mountain sleds are not my thing but I like to watch the videos, that said I have a 23 XCR 850, I’m really hoping Polaris comes out with the XCR with the 9r motor and belt drive , I will be the first at my dealer to order it,then I would like to pass my 850 to my wife , I love that sled to know end.
I would buy another Polaris if the two new ones I have didn’t break so often. Things that break are due to them being cheap and having poor quality assurance and manufacturing.
The Boost and Turbo R have more power at high elevation. The 9R is much lighter and has the best throttle response, making it easier to ride in the trees
@@JasonCaville No slight intended, it’s just how snowmobilers talk about mileage on sleds vs motorcycles, for instance. I had over 90,000 miles on my Honda VFR 800 before crashing it and totaling it. In that time I rode hard, had some normal repairs like stator, voltage regulator, tires, chains, brake pads etc. bit basically super reliable. There are Gold Wings and others that get over 200,000 miles. The reason I mention this is because today’s high performance snowmobiles like yours cost as much or more than a marvelous motorcycle which you can use most of the year and lasts so much longer. Bottom line, until buyers of these hyper expensive sleds demand a lot more reliability they will keep selling us these disposable toys that cost as much as a good used car.
@@leeanderson5955 All good! I would like to keep a sled for 5 years but the sled capabilities advance so fast! Our rides are usually pretty low distance as our main riding area is only 5-10 miles from the staging area. Luckily that prevents me from racking up huge miles.
Got the 9r Pro 165 with E start - old shoulder injury. It feels like I can climb almost anything! Love it!

Polaris just needs to focus on reliability next year. The sleds are good enough for a few years.

stay on top of your P22 clutches. Retork every other ride. my 23 has had a 3 new clutches ,one new crank and now a new motor. 2000 miles

Word is a new clutch is coming because the clutch bolt is still breaking for the 24’s. My 24 Boost seems okay so far but it makes me nervous

Tool less Quick removal panels is the least Polaris could engineer for its customers…
