    About the United States Marine Corps:
    The Marine Corps defends the people of the United States at home and abroad. Within every Marine is the willingness to engage and determination to defeat any adversary, and it is this fighting spirit that allows us to fight and win our Nation’s battles.
    The mission of the United States Marine Corps is made up of three promises: We make Marines, we win our Nation’s battles, and we develop quality citizens prepared to fight and win battles.
    You don’t join the Marines-you become one, forged in the crucible of training aboard our recruit depots on Parris Island, South Carolina, and in San Diego, California, or through the dedication required of officer candidates at Officer Candidates School in Quantico, Virginia. Beyond the physical requirements, aspiring Marines must prove they have the honor, courage, and commitment to face and defeat any obstacle.
    Today, more than 180,000 enlisted Marines and 23,000 Marine Officers serve in active duty or reserve forces on bases and in communities around the world, proudly carrying with them the core values of the Marine Corps.

    Glad to see the infantry going in the right direction. No more "automation by the books training", finally giving the guys challenges and making them think and be decisive in the field. Critical thinking is key in the battlefield and higher is finally realizing it's not a text book out there.

    Fuck yes! This looks like some great training. One instructor per 14 Marines is VERY ideal. I remember going thru ITB and most of it just seemed like 'check in the box' training. We would wait all day in line to shoot one range, and most of the time you would just be sitting by your packs bullshitting with your fellow Pvt's and getting fat on MRE's. Hardly any one on one training with the combat instructors because they had wayyy too many Marines to train and not enough time to ensure each one of them actually mastered the skill.

    If you’re thinking about the infantry it’s absolutely CRUCIAL that you have the right mindset. If you’re joining for cool Call of duty action, absolutely do not enlist as infantry. The amount of “Infantry” things you do, is not as much as you expect. You WILL hate your life and you WILL want to quit every day of your miserable life. But if your one and only goal/reason is to put your life up and go through hell to protect your family and country then absolutely join. You will hate your life still (it’s a lot of cleaning and other bullshit boring tasks) but when that day comes where you get deployed you’re going to be a fucking machine. You’re going to feel this inner beast inside of you just let loose and become this warrior you dreamed of being. That being said, what helped me get through infantry was treating every single training day like if you were in the middle of a war fighting for your family back home, this will give you a reminder of why you started and what you’re fighting for.

      @@SteezySteez2011 his whole rant was how leadership needs to be accountable, because Marines are always doing shit on a tight leash and preaching about accountability and that every problem the Marine Corps has is because there is no accountability passed a certain point.
      This is teaching young Marines to think on their own and problem solve, without an NCO holding their hands. This was obviously caused by a reflection of senior leadership that the Corps needs to focus on the junior enlisted so that when they become Sgts and Staff NCOs they will be able to handle more responsibility and make the right calls in the moment. But seeing your comment I can tell you haven’t read any of the publications and instead choose to stay in like a little ignorant bubble. I don’t dislike LTC Scheller at all but what he did has nothing to do with the POI changes and the new course. IMC isn’t fully implemented yet. There are still ITB classes, the marine corps is still playing around with this concept.

      I’m no longer in, force design is for getting the Marine Corps up to speed on near peer threats and going back to amphibious assault as higher priority.
      It’s just a restructuring of the FMF for the next mission. They’re “playing with it”, it’s going to be another school or tacked onto something else, I doubt it’s going to replace ITB. As well, someone somewhere was clearly shoved, to make a noticeable change enough to advertise it to the world. Otherwise why even make this video like this.

    I don’t know man. The concept is great, but it got implemented about 20 years too early. ITB needs to change, but everyone who has graduated IMC is going to the same units where ITB grunts are going, the training received on weapons systems isn’t going to be applicable because weapons MOS’s still exist, and the entire chain of command still revolves around old school command and control. Plus grunt culture doesn’t care if you went to some special school and got extra training, you’re still just going to do what you’re told to do when you’re told to do it. SOI and the fleet are two different beats entirely anyway.

    • @JoaMAN74
      @JoaMAN74 2 роки тому +3

      I agree with this, the grunts in the fleet won’t care who you are , or what training you’ve done. Yes, it’ll help them pick up the fleets training, and they’ll be more knowledgeable then an 8 week course ITB boot, but I still believe the culture will change once those older grunts start rotating out, and these new IMC Marines take charge.

      That stuff is definitely relevant, but there are many aspects of warfare (especially for ground combat units like the infantry) that have changed little since WW2 - only the toys have got better. Look at the war in Ukraine. It's a combination of high tech warfare and the kind of shit that happened in the 1940s. Hell, even WW1 style trench warfare has made a comeback.
      Don't assume every future war will be like the Gulf Wars or Afghanistan for America either. Sooner or later America is going to go to war with someone that's got at least a decent ability to fight back (mitigate against American air superiority, etc etc) and inflict the kind of casualties that the US hasn't experienced since Korea and Vietnam, if not worse.
