Short answer: if you have a decent sunlight where you want to capture your shots, get the x4 or x3. Otherwise, stay away 🙂

I own an RS-1 inch camera. But I’m not happy with the fact that it is afraid of moisture and does not have a function to turn on with gestures. Does it make sense to upgrade to X4 if you need a camera for fishing blogs?
The X4 is great for this kind of shooting, it is waterproof. And you can reframe later to perfectly frame the moment of catching the fish. For moments where you don’t need 360, such as talking to the camera, you can use single-lens mode.
I have had a one-R for years and it’s been amazing when combined with the invisible selfie stick. I took it on so many adventures and got fun footage (as long as you know the limitations of quality when reframing 360 footage), but I purchased the RS quick release case instead of using the clamp style one and took it in the pool this holiday (RIP), died. I think the problem people are having is that if you take insta360 products in the water then you have to put it in a dive case or risk destroying your camera. But in the dive case; quality above water is then compromised. Saying that I would never take any other consumer level camera in the water, but it did catch up with me in the end. Debating now whether to get the x4 and keep it well away from pools.

I ask because I have recorded long clips (3 minutes or so and it seems hard to make it all come together). I have experince with DJI products and understand how to make vids.. The length of the video should not significantly affect the editing and integration within the app. You can try to use "Create a video" to make it all come together. Studio is fittable for more professional video enthusiasts or users who need detailed video editing. These users require flexible and powerful features to finely adjust video content, so it will be more complex compared to the App. And I'd like to know which function do you think is inconvenient to operate？

I enjoyed your talk at NAB. It’s a shame that in my case they let themselves down with their customer support. I’ve got a brand-new camera which I’ve sent footage of because it’s inferior, actually it’s quite bad even compared to myX3 and all I am getting from them is automated emails and after a month, I’ve had enough. This on top of the issues around requesting influencers not to declare sponsorship are leaving quite a bad taste in my mouth and I would warmly suggest people avoid this company. I’m happy to share my footage was shot on a bright sunny day to illustrate the obvious of the issue which they will not deal with.
Hello Brandon, here's a question for you: if you're using the camera in single lens mode - it's supposed to be fully 4K. But is it? I've seen other reviewers say it's not as good as a dedicated 4K camera. Of course it can't be as good as a multi thousand dollar camera- but is it comparable to 4K on a consumer level camera? I watch UA-cam all day- and watch many videos of people walking in cities (especially in Europe) or in National Parks, etc. They have 4K and sometimes 8K cameras. The quality is fantastic and I don't even have a 4K television- I wish I did!
Its a 4k Sensor on each side of the X4, so you technicall get a 4k image in single lens mode. The reason it might looks less good than another 4K cam is because due to its compact size the Sensor is quite small and the lenses wont let much light into it making the image more grainy in non-ideal lighting scenarios. You can compare it with a GoPro tho.

It is a 4k sensor but image quality will be affected by exposure, camera movement, and sensor noise. Smooth camera moves at low ISO will look the best. Shaky movement at high ISO or improper exposure will appear to be lower-resolution.

I'm seeing that it has an option to lock in and follow a marked subject and keep it on the middle of the screen. When filming fire shows (or a campfire etc), I would expose with as low ISO as possible and expose more for the highlights. In other words, I would avoid boosting ISO to over-expose the fire. Then in post I would raise the shadows or mids to recover some exposure. However, the X3 and X4 aren’t the best for lowlight. You would get better results with the 1 inch 360

I tried to get an answer to this in multiple review video but no one seems to know the answer. They say you can get 4K quality from a single lens, I can get this as well with my X3, but is it possible to choose a frame out of the entire 180 degree single lens and still get full 4K quality or is it just a fixed 4K frame from one lens just like any other action cam. What I mean is, IF its possible to choose whatever fram out of entire 180 sphere and get 4K, then its a big deal, otherwise its just the same as X3.

Crazy how technology have became . I remember those LG or Sony big brick hand held personal camera that cost 2k or more back in 2004 to 2010. Now thanks to Chinese companies they make excellent camera and reasonable price if not very affordable. Oh yeah , like in 2022 or something, they have 369 cameras drones footage. Not sure where you buy those 360 cam drone, probably in China.
Why insta does not take sharp images from distance under 60cm? No don tell me about lens construction. Ultra wide lenses can take sharp images even as close as 1cm.

I like my X4 but I'm disappointed by lack of AEB and lack of interest in this important option from Insta360 team... Automatic HDR isn't the same. Fast overheating in max resolution is also something what can shutdown camera in higher temperatures with lack of wind/speed. 2nd issue probably is impossible to fix but adding AEB should be easy but they doesn't care :(

Although the camera utilizes AEB technology for built-in automatic algorithm optimization in HDR mode, it indeed does not support providing DNG raw files for special effects creation. We have noted and will pass it on to our R&D team for further evaluation.

You obviously didn't watch all the videos, there's actually been a couple of videos me included that mentions that the premium lens guard due to the space gap between lens and guard causes quite a bit of artifacts/reflection. I also mention in my review of the Premium lens guard that if there's a lot of light source, this is not the guard you want to use. Sometimes not all the big 'influencers' point out these issues and/or restrictions.
Any extra layer of glass or plastic will cause artifacts, so you’ll get the best results shooting without them. But they are very useful for preventing accidental scratches when carrying or storing the X4. So I use the lens guards mostly for storage as an additional layer of protection.

Well it actually doesn‘t have 2 wide angle fish eye lenses on each side. It has 2 wide angle fish eye lenses. One on each side.

Clean the Lenses or just take them off
