What an incredibly beautiful shots. I am blown away by the quality it records. Could you please share the settings too? Thanks in advance. Keep up the amazing work.
Levi, the X4 footage is so much better than the previous 360 video! Except for some panning shifts and stick shadows, there were fewer signs of 360° footage. The fish eye distortion was much less prominent than say the cycling in the forest.

Thank you for your video. Could you please let me know if there is a massive difference in regards of the photography as opposed to other actions cameras? I am looking for a compact travelling camera and this camera fit perfectly. I don't use these cameras for jumping on the airplane, riding motorbike, vlogging etc. but mostly for my personal travels and have great memories. I record more videos than taking pics but I am wondering about the quality for photography (I used to have a GoPro12). I would really appreciate If I could get your feedback about this. Thanks
I started with the first Insta360 which I bumped the lens on the first day I had it. Let them repair it and sold it. This new X4 is so much better. First that megapixel resolution. It is fantastic. Also bright images and good light sensitivity for during the day. Colours are great and the battery is also much better than the old one. The dive cage is very nice. Especially on the beach where salt, sand and water land in a mix on the camera. No way I am going to risc damaging this one. Thanks for your video which also gave me some very nice ideas using it.
Awesome video, subscribing officially 😊. sir, I own the x3 it gets hot pretty quick is that solved on the x4? Oh and is there a way to put back the videos I downloaded from my x3 to the 360insta app on my iPad back to the camera x3 without losing the raw footage ( unedited version) where I can still use the videos as 360 controllable footage instead of loosing that 😢. I’m switching iPads and can’t move these into the new one , that’s why
Some under water scene was did without case? I have x2 and all of my videos under water are terrible, the light of each lens is different and the final result is very bad.

I want to buy bro for daily vlogging purposes which 360 is reccomendable.. can it be connected to wifi or live streaming with it? Planing to buy the insta 360 go so i dont need to hold when im traveling with my kids but I saw one video its says transferring it the phone or laptop its terribly slowww.. im not that fun of editing that much..
Thanks for making this vid! I finally known what mount to use for my Seabob! Was the line on the image from the dive case only visible out of the water?
There is a more noticeable Stich line with dive case, than normal filming above water without. But the trade off is worth it for sure. The main thing is to avoid scratching the dive housing. I accidentally scratched it a few times and that definitely makes Stich line more obvious. All in all it’s a big improvement underwater over the x3
4:51 why is this not distorted or grainy? I mean, low light and slow mo at the same time? This is the reason why I don't use slow mo as well. The vid mode 5.7 30fps is grainy for me already (X3 user). Do you do manual settings?
Levi, you teach us mere mortals how to be better and I’m very grateful. Sadly, Insta360 have let me down in that my camera shoots terrible quality video even in Sunny conditions and although I sent them footage every email I get back is either an automated email or stalling email. is it possible to remotely start and stop recordings on the camera mounted in a hard-to-reach location, or do you have to physically press the buttons?
I have the X4 and I am struggling to get great image quality. I've watched a few videos and I am close, but not what I am expecting at all. What's the secret? The insta acepro and osmo poket are great. Just struggling with 360 X4.
I have the x3 but i think i need to get the x4. I am shooting the bathtub races in Nanaimo this summer and plan to mount the x3 on the tub. But this looks like it will give me better footage. Worth it?
I would remove them if you plan to single lens film. And then re-attach. If you are throwing camera into water, keep them on. Footage doesn’t work between the above and underwater without dive housing. I think it would be smart to remove them for dive housing as well.
It's not capable of filming in 360 underwater as the lenses don't line up once water comes into play and magnifies things slightly. It can film in single lens mode underwater. Or you can film in 360 and just frame the shot onto only one of the lenses.
Part of that is me scratching the dive case a bunch on accident. We had x3 and x4 in the water at the same time and I anecdotally definitely prefer the x4’s image. A lot less mushy underwater
Why isn't the camera working out of the box? And why can it only be unlocked with an Insta360 app? And not even with a PC, only via smartphone... How about making a video about that?
Yes, there are several pieces of tech that only work when paired with phones. I like things to work out of the box too, but I also understand why a brand wants to make sure the device has latest firmware. As for as "How about making a video about that?" why would I make a video about that? It's not a deal breaker for me, or interesting. I said multiple times in my first look video that I was using pre-production firmware. How would I possibly know what the user experience is like on a production shipped unit?
@@Levi_Allen I appreciate your answer, but having the latest firmware can't be the reason for the activation via smartphone and a special app or otherwise they would allow updates via PC and / or MicroSD card - and they would force you to do it regularly, not just once. I'm really curious why those companies, especially 影石创新科技股份有限公司, are forcing you to pair the camera you bought with your mobile phone. Especially since it's working for half a second until the screen is locked and the message about unlocking pops up. There is absolutely no good reason for that IMHO - and of course their customer service is ignoring all questions regarding that topic. That's why I thought it would make a really interesting video, don't you think? What's behind this? I recently bought a Nikon D7500 - that model is 7 years old, works perfectly fine without any updates straight out of the box. The 4 week old X4 doesn't. And nobody seems to be questioning it...
@@Levi_Allen I know exactly how you feel as I am still stuck with that 80k Yen brick called X4 as it is completely useless to me - and Yodobashi Camera refuses to take it back, because I opened the box. I just checked the X4 product website. There is a long list of "compatible devices" - and no mention that you actually NEED one of them to use the camera. How is that even legal?

I just tested for the first time my Insta360 X4 with the water Case for snorkeling compare to my Gopro 11, and let me tell you, I was so disappointed with the quality of the footage with the Insta360 X4. Am I the only one, or am I missing something here ?
A single sensor camera (like a GoPro, ace pro, iPhone etc.) will definitely have better image quality in a finished shot. The reason I like the 360 for underwater when there is good light, is for the floating camera look and the ability to re-frame.
Technically, me mode would be the same final resolution as a reframed 8k file. Because the reframe from 8k is less than 8k. Might even be higher I’d have to test
I find it very suspect that none of the major influencers are comparing the X4 to the 1-inch. I do not think Insta360 wants that comparison to happen. This camera seems to be marketed using the 8K resolution it has and not the fact that it's the exact same sensor in the X3. I bought the X4 and have the 1-inch and I can say without a doubt that I am keeping my 1-inch and returning the X4. The 1-inch is so much better. If any of you are semi knowledgable about cameras, you know the most import aspect of a camera is its image sensor capability. Light gathering is everything. I will wait for the 8k 1-inch to come out. That will add even more detail to the 1-inch and trust me, it's not missing a ton. The X4 is only necessary if you need a waterproof camera without using additional accessories or want something a bit lighter, but if you own the 1-inch, I say save your money.
The 1 inch is amazing. Works fantastic. Main things is lack of waterproofing for the action stuff I do, and I also love the new high frame rate options. I don’t own an 1”. But in my use cases putting it at the end of a long pole for gov shots single handed, is just that little bit heavier, requiring more counter weights. Not a problem, just a factor. I have no problem putting the two head to head, and I wouldn’t suspect insta 360 would either. Truth is I think the action line has been much more popular numbers wise than the more “professional” focused models. I’d still love a 1” with 10 bit log, and don’t care how heavy it takes to do that. One can dream though right?
yes the sensor is the same but the processor is decently not. The new one X4 uses the full potential of the chip, while the X3 doesn't, and that is a major difference. Just want to mention. ;-) :-)
@@philipDaguru yea, all fine and dandy, but after owning both, the decision was easy. If i want to mount a 360 cam on my drone or on the end of a long monopod, it makes total sense to get the x4 but it's definitely a step back in image quality as it should be since it is cheaper than the 1-inch. I didn't buy an x3 because of the 1-inch being rumored back then. So, I will wait for an 8k 1-inch which we all know is coming. My point is if you own a 1-inch because you didn't want an x3, then don't waste your money and just be patient for a new 1-inch. Also, edit your videos in premiere and not the insta360 studio app. Major compression/qualtiy issues with prores and h265 in their own software.
These things aren’t meant for the same purpose. The 1” is bulky and not meant for the same situations you use the x4 in, which are action shots where weight and size is a determining factor.
looks good, unfortunately the underwater shots are too blurry and the quality is taking too much of a toll. 360 footage is fun, but half of it unusable, too much flairs and blurring to my liking
It's an improvement over the X3 for sure, but I know what you mean. I wonder if one day we can ever get a dedicated water only 360 cam. That would be pretty niche, but seems the only way to get over the need for a second housing.
@@Levi_Allen i guess it will be hard to achieve, given the water refraction...even the wide angle lenses tend to get blurry towards the edges. i was really tempted to give a try to the x4, but i guess for the time being regular action camera will have better results in most scenarios, especially with log and color editing.
I bought my insta360 and got it last week since then I wasn't able to edit the recorded videos. I get a error message that says that the files are damaged or corrupted. I can't even play the videos on my x4. I tried to repair the files with the file repair computer Program from insta360 but wasn't able to repair the files. Costumer service also is very bad cause they take forever to respond. Iam very disappointed in insta360 because after all the youtube videos about the insta360 that speak positive about the insta360 x4 I really thought this was a good purchase. I really don't think I'll ever buy a product from them again. I’m also going to return the x4 and not recommend people buy it.
For me it's not "mind blowing 8K" but more "barely noticable 8k" on real-world side by side comparisons with the X3. But 360 degree footage viewed in a VR headset does show a clearly higher resolution from the X4.

@@JapaneseMonster Got ya! And yes you are right about the waiting and editing. Peace Phil
These things aren’t meant for the same purpose. The 1” is bulky and not meant for the same situations you use the x4 in, which are action shots where weight and size is a determining factor.
Where are you?
Mental health break. Been a rough go
@@Levi_Allenwas just searching the socials to see where you are! Hope things get better soon big dawg!
looks good, unfortunately the underwater shots are too blurry and the quality is taking too much of a toll.
@@SvetoslavBonev 10bit log is so helpful underwater
What headset do you use? I’ve yet to invest in my own

How does the 100fps stuff look on Vr?
@@Levi_Allen I haven't got the camera - yet! - and I haven't seen any 360 100fps samples. But anything less than 8k can look a bit blurry in VR.
