FYI - Not only does the cow excrete manure (which is soil - as you mention), but the carbon sequestration is mostly due to the roots of the grass dying off (perfectly natural process of the tops being trimmed in grazing). This is the double effect of grazing. This also makes it far more sustainable than growing trees that are invariably planted and forgotten - grass grows quicker, and it's the trimming of tops (by the cow grazing) and roots (by the plant no longer needing them) that is the key to holistic management/regenerative grazing/carbon sequestration.

I gave up the practice of medicine 10 years ago. We now raise, harvest and process all our meat, produce all our eggs, dairy and poultry. Our animals never leave the farm and are stressed as little as possible. We grow our fruit and veg (what we can salvage from the bluddy parrots) and mostly buy spices, olive oil, coffee, salt and such. I came to the ketogenic WOE five years after starting this rural adventure and it's all just fallen into place for me
@@overcomer4226 it's a lot of hard work, frequently heartwrenching and requires a leap of mindset. Eat what you've got, not what you feel like. Kill and process the animals you've raised from their birth. No sleeping in because you've been up half the night cuz cow needs milking and animals need feeding. Shoot the sick and suffering livestock. Lose ALL your tree fruits to parrots. Wouldnt swap it for anything.

Dr. Mason, thank you so much for this valuable information. Your every video is an enlightenment! Dr., if it’s not a problem, you mentioned Hashimoto can be exacerbated by some plants in a diet. So it would really help me if I knew which products I should exclude from my diet. And maybe see if my antibodies would decrease. Last time I checked I had 510 IU/ml.

Question. Previously noted a striking correlation between serum C and chronic disease, wouldn't it be a simple matter to create a Serum C monitor? Given that Vitamin C and blood glucose are almost identical in structure. A small tweek should be able to produce a C monitor, and alert people as to a chronic condition, or deficiency in diet.
Is it possible to arrange something like this but with a Vegan Dr.? I'd love to see a serious debate or chat between two Excellent Doctors from different perspectives.

What does your friend have to lose? Show him the data, give him the information, offer him your help and let him decide if he wants to try it or not. Therefore you are sending him nowhere, you offer him a possibility and a chance standard medicine doesn't.
There's no vitamin C in meat but there is DHAA which the human body can use to make vitamin C and is many times more absorbable by the body than vitamin C which the gut does not intake very well at all. So long as you have fresh meat you do not need vitamin C, scurvy at sea occurred because the meat was preserved for months or years on end.
The carnivore diet works. Cured all my problems and reversed my blindness. Many friends and family are taking a keen interest and some also trying themselves.
Dr, I love watching your lectures as I am studying to enter med school. One thing I am confused about though. I know certain diabetic medication should be avoided while on keto, but what about type 1 diabetics? Should they completely avoid keto or is it the medications they are on that would put them at risk for Ketoacidosis? You’re doing great work, I’ve learned a lot from you
Ketoacidosis is when the blood sugar and ketones are high together due to low insulin state. Without insulin the body doesnt see the sugar so it desperately tries to make ketones for fuel but those can't be used until sugar is gone.. Look at dr bernestein info. Absolutely lowering blood sugar and hbaic is priority. Many type1 diabetics have the effects of poor glucose control thats preventable. There is at least one case study showing reversal of q childs typ1 diagnosis. The key is having appropriate insulin amounts to amount of sugar consumed. Insulin and sugar stay low on keto and ketones are being used for fuel, and nowhere over 10mmol/l either.. not a desperate state of trying to survive when not using any fuel adequately, either because not being diagnosed yet or not taking care not themself adequately post diagnosis. Low carb should be in any diabetics survival guide to low complications. 100%.
Q for anyone. Say you test 2.0 serum ketones but ate excess fat. Are the ketones in the blood all being utilized or could they be the excess fat ingested like when one spills ketones into urine or breath? Thanks
I see a role for intermittent fasting in those with metabolic issues. I'm not convinced it is necessary (nor even beneficial) for those in good health who exercise regularly.
Dr Paul Mason #autophagy won the Nobel Prize for medicine in 2016 - it can only happen when fasting. Lowers cancer rates and is the natural #rejuvanation system. I agree that sedentary individuals should practice I.F. Our systems - including maintenance systems - evolved around scarcity not the abundance which we live in. Breakfast is not “the most important meal of the day” unless you’re exercising a lot. This mantra was created by the cereal lobby. Many knowledgeable people now skip it from Elon Musk, Reece Mogg to the Royal Family like Prince Charles.
@@FactualCounterpoints Autophagy can occur with HIIT, heavy lifting, LISS among others. I agreee with Dr. Mason. People take fasting too far. It disrupts hormones and tanks metabolism. I believe time restricted feeding sometimes shorter, sometimes longer, can induce autophagy. Dr Satchin Pandas research would confirm this. Is it necessary to do this constantly. It is probably best to do this SEASONALLY also. This would likely mimic how we ate throughout the ages
1:08:45 “you’ll starve your brain of any fuel source” ignores #gluconeogenesis - the body creates its own #glucose and also the brain works great on #ketones He also states that he someone’s eats ONE meal a day which is effectively a 24h #fast. This is by far the healthiest unless fitness training
The study involving height and a egg a day was flawed as the control group wasnt given calories to match the group that was given the egg. The study found that eating more calories results in growth, which is not newsworthy.
Disney and urbanisation; urban humans only experience of animals is pets and talking, animated cuties. Romantic sentimentality is revered. We've also been encouraged to avoid anything that we find distasteful or causes us discomfort. Like he says, grow up
@@alisamsg446 I also don't think we're encouraged to understand death and suffering are separate concepts. I don't have trouble with folks who genuinely don't want animals to suffer but conflating that idea with death is lazy thinking.
For me, I cannot feel right about biting into any creature, so I am vegetarian. In that, do you think someone will push the idea of a Ketogenic-FODMaP list?
Stephen Strange I suggest you change how you feel about eating meat if you want optimal health and eat only grassfed beef & lamb, pasture raised eggs, milk, cream and butter from pasture raised grass fed cows, wild caught seafood is much better for the environment and kills less animals than a vegetarian diet.
I'd like to listen to this but I can't stand the interviewer. His interruptions greatly reduce the exchange of information. He needs to learn to shut up and put his agenda and ego aside. Every time I am interested in what Mason is about to present this unmanaged mouth stops him for the worse.
30:48 - Sorry, got to pipe up about the economically illiterate argument being used there (denigrating free trade). A sells to B - both engage in the exchange voluntarily because they think they'll benefit ex ante. Those in third world selling the avo's for $15 a pop are better off and more wealthy as a result, that capital allows them to invest more locally etc. provides jobs and alleviates poverty (savings & capital accumulation). As the society becomes wealthier there is less need to export there (given costs of transport) and so they look to sell locally more so, and giving more supply of money (purchasing power - they can do so compared with 1st world). The UNJUSTIFIABLE position would be barring free trade (which wasn't at all discussed)... but thats the implication of the argument against vegans lol. Look - don't result to wrong arguments just because. Anyway, rant over. Great work otherwise.
Was really vibin until he started taking about farming. Made the same mistake that he bashes in the beginning. There is plenty of ways to build soil without animals: no-till farming is growing in popularity. Literally earthworms make topsoil and fertilizer. Leaves or any kind of organic matter will build soil. Has he ever heard of a compost pile?! 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
Escape Pod actually vegan and vegetarian diets kill more small rodents and insects than a grass fed carnivore diet. Agriculture destroys the planet and kills millions of small animals and insects every year. Grass fed cows and sheep replenish the soil and are beneficial for the environment. I can leave on one grass fed cow per year, but a vegan diet of imported mass produced crops kills thousands of life forms per year.
Sorry but when i see a lion rip open and expose the internal organs of a zebra just so it can slowly bleed to death in immense pain i really do not feel bad about buying meat that comes from a cow that was killed instantly.

I dont understand how it can make that much of a difference when I had already eliminated most plants. But how I feel is life changing. I hope that my desire to eat plants goes away in this process and that I can eat more than once a day. So grateful I can eat and digest the most nutritious food - beef.
Thank you for teaching us.
So many mic drops refuting the cult of plant based diet followers I lost count. The evidence based information (Something the plant based zealots refuse to accept) in this podcast is enlightening for me. Thank you Dr Paul Mason for your expertise in this area for overall health.
Fasting is definitely not a fad it definitely increases anti inflammatory markers in the bloodstream
Hi guys Paul says at around 14:30 that DHA doesn't come from animal food. I guess this was a mistake and he meant it doesn't come from plant food because he goes on to say "except algae." Please can you clarify?
Just Me yeah it was just a mistake..
Paul would be excellent at EOD. Careful is an extreme understatement when it comes to how he words the facts.
EOD meaning Explosive Ordnance Disposal? :)
If GP's are negligent for not keeping up with the science, what does it say about RD's?
They are kommissars there to push forward the corporate communist agenda.
Really struggling to find info on what nutrition is left in meats when cooked.
And to try eat liver without that taste, and easy bone broth help, I have to go zero carb for health.
Awesome info, thank you!
Nice. A big Dr. Mason fan.
He's amazing
I've been carnivore 12 months. In the last few months I've developed seborrheic dermatitis - skin inflammation. I'm 62 and this is the first time I have ever had skin problems. Coincidence? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Important contents. Learnt many things. Love from Bangladesh. Carnivore works!
I came to the ketogenic WOE five years after starting this rural adventure and it's all just fallen into place for me
Your lifestyle sounds heavenly!
I started the carnivore diet as I have been more veggie focused for years, but heard it can clean the gut, reset and help skin and a lot of autoimmune, I am day 2 in and WOW my joints are killing me. My knees feel like I played sport and was tackled all my life I can't find anything on this other Than the carnivore helps joint pain, for me it is causing it and wonder if there are any answers on this?
Could be oxalate dumping. Ease into the diet don’t change completely over night
Dr. Mason, thank you so much for this valuable information. Your every video is an enlightenment! Dr., if it’s not a problem, you mentioned Hashimoto can be exacerbated by some plants in a diet. Is there any source where I could get more information on this subject? I, myself, have a Hashimoto and have been told all my life, there’s nothing I can change or do but to take L-thyroxine. So it would really help me if I knew which products I should exclude from my diet. And maybe see if my antibodies would decrease. Last time I checked I had 510 IU/ml.
Look up Neisha Berry, she is a nurse that healed her hashimoto disease with diet.
So informative and easy to digest!. Have you any information on low carb and alcohol? White wine is the hardest thing for me to give up. Thank you for sharing all this information.
Try vodka and club soda with a squirt of liquid water enhancer like mio. Omg
Try dry farms white wine, sugar and chemical free.
I’m looking forward to Dr Mason being interviewed by someone else.
Hello, I'm low carb and doing great!!! Almost carnivore. Please help!! I have a young friend ,32 yrs old with severe anorexia and bulimia over 15 years of struggling. She's about 5'6" 75-80lbs. She has gone to many hospitals and treatments centers over the years and this week heading to Texas to try again to put on weight and look and feel better. She has been plumped up with carbs at these places only to come home and lose the weight she put on and its more the bulimia habit. Can you suggest anything to help? We know its a mind issue as well as a food issue.

"...and this [omega 3 fat] does not come from animal foods"
Was this a mistake?
He said it is found in algae and that's why fish have it, but few are eating fish on the SAD.
Yes it was a mistake because he goes on to say "the animal food we are eating, flax seed isn't efficient at producing DHA."
He clearly meant plant food
Paul Shaw missed his error. Otherwise brilliant.
Yes, I should have said plant foods. Thanks.
Nice idea. Stay tuned.......
Does he go over histamines in this video and if not is there another of his/your videos I can watch? I'd love ur perspective on histamines.
check out a girl named Health coach Kait on youtube. She reviews hight and low histamine foods AND suggests high DAO foods to neutralize the histamine.
just as glucosamine can be an antidote for WGA, I'd like to know if there is an antidote for coffee anti-nutrients, which I can no longer tolerate (and more or less same story for chocolate and red wine)
Me too ! No one is talking about coffee ! I really want accurate info on coffee....cause I am so addicted...
Me also I was, not anymore, incredible! I'd Like to set up an experiment like heating Coffee under pressure for 10 minutes before using it to see if I still have a bad reaction.
@@zambrocca they say coffee is so good for you but I want to know also about the tannins and oxalates and anti nutrients... I wish some of the good Docs would look into it for us......they would get millions of views !!!!
Its a seed so it cant be good. Anyway more info is needed
A close friend has an auto immune disorder, something similar to Motor neurone disease and MS. Nerve sheath being destroyed by immune system. He's now confined to a wheelchair. Can low card help this? Im a low carb advocate but I'm no expert and dont want to send him down a dead end. He's tried 'everything' and has had enough.
All meat contains vitamin C. The reason is: meat comes from animals. Animals cannot live without vitamin C, and therefore their meat contains it.
Pizza is mostly bread... a.k.a... sugar.
@@davidsmith9189 No idea what that means, but it's funny!
Mostly a mix of saturated fat and carbs with a little bit of protein if we are talking a basic cheese pizza
@@michaelcarter8620 ...and still mostly break aka sugar as stated..
Thanks
I had to stop listening. The host should allow this brilliant man to speak.
You mentioned an interview with Joel Salatin but I can’t find it on your channel. Could you point me in the right direction?
Dawn Sutton maybe he meant Paul Saladino?
This is Paul Mason's channel, not Paul Shaw's (the podcaster).
Ellenor Malik Thanks, I see that now. Perhaps Paul could do the interviewer the courtesy of crossposting his channel as well.
Dr Jason Fung's experience with intermittent fasting hasn't swayed you? 🙂
sunflowersadie sadie If you’re health is at optimum you probably don’t need to do that, otherwise fasting is a very helpful tool.
i'd rather not give myself starvation diseases
1:08:45 “you’ll starve your brain of any fuel source” ignores #gluconeogenesis - the body creates its own #glucose and also the brain works great on #ketones
He also states that he someone’s eats ONE meal a day which is effectively a 24h #fast.
This is by far the healthiest unless fitness training
Is this a reposting of a previous video, I think I've seen this before
Pass the joint over here! Lol

Like he says, grow up
Yes. And we are not confronted with death daily anymore so we become sensitive to it.
Davidi 007 so true.. I was vegetarian and had to overcome my psychological distaste for eating animals in an attempt to heal my body.

Brilliant is Alpha.
I'd like to listen to this but I can't stand the interviewer. His interruptions greatly reduce the exchange of information. He needs to learn to shut up and put his agenda and ego aside. Every time I am interested in what Mason is about to present this unmanaged mouth stops him for the worse.
Please don’t ask a question and then answer it. I would prefer to listen to the expert.

Take the cows out of feed lots and back to eating grass on regenerative farms. Therefore they will be healthier and reduce the methane
Love it "there is no life with death"... true in your dietary life as well as your spiritual life. We must die to self and live for Jesus Christ!
Lol No.
Jesus Saves cos he banks with the Commonwealth!!!
not everyone gets optimal on carnivore
these kids pulling down statues need to eat more animal products
Meat is a cruelty-causing food....meat causes animal suffering you can't imagine. Hope you come back as a pig or cow....kharma.
Hi, delusional :-)
Escape Pod actually vegan and vegetarian diets kill more small rodents and insects than a grass fed carnivore diet. Agriculture destroys the planet and kills millions of small animals and insects every year. Grass fed cows and sheep replenish the soil and are beneficial for the environment. I can leave on one grass fed cow per year, but a vegan diet of imported mass produced crops kills thousands of life forms per year.
HalfwayFeral ohhh so true!!👏🏻👏🏻 'One life is less valuable then another life'.. ideology ..
Sorry but when i see a lion rip open and expose the internal organs of a zebra just so it can slowly bleed to death in immense pain i really do not feel bad about buying meat that comes from a cow that was killed instantly.
You need animals to fertilize the soil. The topsoil erosion from intensive farming is much worse for the planet than grazing beef cattle.
