Regarding the reliability concerns of the MG brand, you need to delve a little deeper to understand the poor scoring it achieved. The brand was dragged down by the fully electric models which frequently return to dealerships for software issues etc. Also MG lost points on the time cars were in dealerships awaiting repair. This is unfortunately due to MG's success. Sales have grown way above the speed dealerships have been able to expand, recruit and train service technicians. The petrol models are much more reliable and the 3 year old HS and 1 year old ZS we have in our family have both been faultless.
Little addition on that. The EV models also seem to have vastly improved after the first batches. Most of the software issues seem to have been resolved these days and the old infotainment systems were also a big source of issues, but they were ousted with the ZS refresh in 2021, now they use AMD based systems. I do recognize the lane assist issue on the old HS, that thing was annoying. Got myself a new MG5 2 weeks ago and also there, the issue is completely gone, it actually works as intended :) MG has been tested to actually have some of the best anti-corrossion protection of the Chinese brands, on par with many of our mainstream Western brands.
@@stevethom4534 got myself a 21 plate HS six months ago and the infotainment 'head' has had to be replaced by MG, the front camera has had to be recalibrated and now it looks like the usb port is faulty as it does not always detect phones on android auto..... Oh, and the CVT auto transmission takes some getting used to!
Don't forget you can assign the star buttons on the steering wheel to shortcut to what you want. Then you can control the HVAC system directly from the steering wheel and use the up/down and left/right button to control fan speed and heating up and down, then it is so easy!
Sorry but having driven many new cars, they all had one thing in common. They all had asthmatic 1.5ltr engines.... Following a number of utterly borthed to death drives, I decided to buy an electric car. Lovely performance and far far cheaper to drive than filling up with £70 to £80 of petrol every few days!
Great review as usual . 37MPG WLTP is woeful in this day and age, probably best waiting for the hybrid as the extra upfront expenditure ( I'm guessing leasing wouldn't be much more either ) will be worth it in the saving on Day to day running cost
Great review....the mild hybrid is going to be good too when it arrives....think there's going to be lots of these and Dacia Bigsters on our roads soon
They are bringing out a large SUV EV out towards the end of the year that will sit above the upcoming ES5, that will be in the same segment as the HS. According to rumours, it will be their first model with the new semi-solid state batteries, so around 600 miles range on a charge.
ive had one for 14 months on the motability scheme and it is without a doubt the worst car i have ever had, theres like 12-14 known faults with them and i have 12. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

Yep, MPG is not exactly stellar but I'm guessing a hybrid would cost a lot more so some won't be too bothered.
im a 73 plate owner and my mpg after 14 months is between 27-29 and no i dont drive like a boy racer, im in normal or eco all the time
Hi Jim im going to have look and drive of this car price is great ,thanks for update
No problem 👍

Lot of car for the money 👍👍
Very much so
Looks very good value
It is! 👍
They need this in full electric then I’ll buy one 👍
👍
These have an old American type engine that is not very economical, I’ve test driven it, good drive why not a full EV

try the ZS Hybrid+ even more of a bargain.
It’s on the list 👍
Not much go in it if it takes almost ten seconds on the 0-62 mph, hope there's never one in front of me at the lights.😂
👌
Not bad looking and looks similar to a Honda.
👍
Unlike me, they are both over 12 inches! Size does matter at least when it comes to screens 😂😂😂
😉
The MG Health Serrvice?
Huh? HS?
