I’m a daily weigher and it’s been life changing. I’m not obsessed with the number it’s just cool to see that the number doesn’t define me but it keeps me accountable
I recently started weighing everyday before I get dressed in the morning, before I've had any food or drink, however I don't record it unless I've lost weight since the last entry. This does help me realize how up and down a body is on a regular basis, helps pinpoint when I've had too much salt, sugar, etc. but also it helps alleviate the mind game that I put myself through with putting too much emphasis on "the number". Since I only record the losses it makes me more consistently accountable for my actions (no loss, no entry), it also makes my graph look really good, always going down and never up which is very encouraging. I feel like this has put me in a place where I can always look at things in a positive insightful way rather than being dragged down by having to record the gains and look at them all the time. Yep, it might be three weeks from one recorded weight to the next but I know the next one I put down is going to be a smaller number than the last one.

I've experienced the shoulder issue that you're explaining. My Doctor called it a "frozen shoulder"...very painful😫 Took me about a week to recover...it came out of no where🤷🏾♀️ Started taking Collagen and haven't experienced it since, thank the Lord🙏🏽 Glad you've recovered!!

You're doing so great! I really appreciate you keeping it real. I weigh daily and I think it helps me to not stress so much about weigh-in day. I can see what's been happening all week and if I'm up a pound, but I know all week I've been lower, I know it's just a fluctuation. Of course downward blips are never fluctuations but always real weight loss! 😀

Urges are the result of your brain being exhausted with all the challenges and stresses of the day including worrying about points. When you have a an urge set a timer and tell yourself no action until the timer ends. Then spend the time journaling about the thought and emotions around the urges. I bet the urge will pass. Gives yourself kudos for the work

Just found your channel yesterday and LOVE IT! I started weight watchers in august of last year and have lost 40lbs and need to loose about 5 more to get to my goal but it’s a struggle so I can relate to every thing you say. Up one week down one week. This has been going on for months lol!!! I think I will try weighing daily now. I love your thinking of knowing what you have eaten the day before and how it effects your weight.

I totally get the poop thing. When I was losing weight way back in my ‘20’s, (I am 69), I would weigh myself every day. First thing in the morning after I peed. Weighing myself every day, kept me going. I wanted to see those numbers go down. I guess it was motivational. You are such a delightful person. I love watching yr videos! ❤

I got so tickled at you about the 💩 statement. You are so cute and relatable...every ounce counts 😁. I had much success with intermittent fasting, lost 33 lbs., kept it off for 3 years but slowly have gained most of it back. I'll be starting IF again because that has been the easiest for me. Take care and know that we all support your weight loss journey.

We all love you better cause nobody can say they haven't waited to POOP before a weigh in! Nailed it! Wish we were neighbors because I love to eat healthy but of course we all hit the struggle bus at times. At our tender age, health is better and nothing beats having fun and feeling good! LOVE your videos and your kind spirit.
I weigh every Monday morning. On the meal plan I am on you eat every 4 hours without overlapping your fuel type. Basically you have either a "satisfying meal" or an 'energizing meal". I make sure I can have a snack in the evening unless I have had a late dinner. If you have a snack it has to be grounded with protein. My favorite is a chocolate peanut butter shake or berry cottage whip. SO GOOD. Or sometimes I have Michelin Star Popcorn.
Philadelphia reminds me so much of the UK - I think the trouble with weighing yourself everyday particularly during the menopause is there are lots of other factors going on and if you are showing gains you may find it demotivating and then overeat as comfort and it all becomes very consuming. Keep going you are an inspiration.

The scale just keeps me accountable and gives me data on how I’m doing.

Love your videos. Lots of us can relate and are going through the same things. Evening eating is a struggle for me. The struggle is real. One of the tricks I use is, putting crest white strips on or painting my nails with the clear polish, prevents me from eating and helps me get over the urge.

I love your honesty and joyful approach to llife. Anyone who has had a lot of weight to lose would have done exactly as you did pre weight in. When I'm trying to lose I weight every day to keep myself motivated but only count the once weekly weigh in. I have just discovered your channel form Australia and I think you have motivated me to join you in trying to find healthy in 'over 50'. Thank you

I never got around to commenting in the group about weighing - should you and if so how often etc. It’s so individual. I remember back in my dieting days when I was so obsessed about the number that if somebody asked me how I was my thought was, “hang on let me weigh myself and then I’ll tell you” oy 🤦♀️ My mood was totally dictated by that number. I see that in you and your Friday weighings and so tbt I think more frequent weighings might be better for you. Best time though is first thing in the morning after you pee and butt naked. That’s the most consistent time. During the course of the day weight can easily fluctuate 5 pounds (or more).
Hopefully though you took measurements. And remember it’s not like we go around with a number/weight plastered to our forehead - nobody knows what you weigh. What ppl see is what we see - your adorable personality, authenticity, and beauty - outer and inner!That’s what matters 🥰💕

MAYBE THIS WILL HELP- I was having trouble with nighttime snacking. There are certain foods that I CAN’T be around, but I live with my family and they want to snack etc. So, I bought a tiny freezer with a lock on it. Everyone can put their ice cream in there. Then I bought a small chest with a combination on it. That’s where the chips, crackers and other junk food goes. There is nothing that I can get to!!! It’s the only thing that has truly worked for me!
You should weigh yourself first thing in the morning. Your weight will fluctuate during the day with water retention, what you've eaten, etc. It is most accurate before consuming anything. I love your video's and am so glad I found your channel. I'm on a weight loss/wellness journey now, also, and you're very real and motivating.

You crack me up! And I think your reasons to hold off weighing are pretty universal. I do the same thing! But watching your giggles was fantastic! I do weigh every day, first thing in the morning. I go up and down but love watching the slow downward trend. I'd rather see a bad day than a bad week. I need the quick and encouraging turnaround.
I found your channel recently and am enjoying it. I have a few years on you and have found it very difficult to keep weight off the last few years. I haven't weighed as much as I do now since I was pregnant. I live in MA and we've had a very hot and humid summer too. I've been a hermit, which means no exercise. Could I exercise inside? Sure. Have I? Nope. I'm down a few pounds in the last week and a half with food choices and portions only. I weigh in daily...keeps me on track. I know weight can fluctuate, so I don't stress too much. Keep up the good work!
I like the idea of weighing daily because you know where you stand and you can make changes before you get too out of control and are all of the sudden up 5 pounds!

Oh you made me giggle about heat wave! Totally something I’ve done. 😆. Since you like strength training, have you tried a class? I go to a place (pure barre) and it’s great because the teacher checks everyone’s form so the exercises are more effective and there’s less of a chance of injury. It’s also motivating for me to exercise in a group. I love your videos! Thanks for sharing your journey. Edited to add- I put a pack of sugar free gum in the pantry so at least I see a better choice when confronted by my family’s junk food. Helps with the snacking after dinner. ❤️

Completely understand waiting till you’ve gone poo to weigh. From what I’ve gone through and my trainer recommended was weighing yourself first thing in the morning before you’ve ate or drank anything. Always weigh yourself at the same time of day. I could never stick with the daily weigh. I got too wrapped up in the number.

oh Bobbie i am with you...i really dont want my life to revolve around weigh ins, food and when my next meal is...i just want to live and enjoy life...just turned 56 so i am still figuring it all out and also traveling for 6 months...Please pray for me ...its so hard for me when traveling...my BM is bad enough at home but when i travel i get so messed up and with hormones, BM out of wack...yikes...
Traveling messes me up as well! Drinking plenty of water helps!
What a very inspiring video. I have been on every diet unfortunately I’m now pre-diabetic and have decided on a life style change. I’m now 100% plant based, no not vegan. I don’t cook with any oils, eat any cheese or eggs of any kind. I cook with vegetable broth and water. It’s been life changing ! My body feels better than ever, even the veins in my legs have lightened up. It’s being monitored by my medical provider.

I love ur laughter it’s just beautiful! This is my first video I’m seeing of yours and it’s great! so pls pardon if you have mentioned this before but since I’ve started taking Omega 3s the 1200 dose (proven that it helps curve a sweet tooth), make sure you have your vitamin D levels correct (not just at the levels they say but optimized), and vitamin C (3k) , B and iron & of course HRT is also incorporating acetyl l-carnitine (3k) this does pass the brain barrier and it helps with muscle recovery and so many things! so hope any of this helps keep on doing what you’re doing and best of luck we’re on this journey together with you 💕ps: I eat the sugar free Russell stover turtles pss: sorry for so much verbiage but if ur still having hot flashes my dear upping the estrogen is key (I know some folks don’t go this route but if u do sounds like it’s too low) plus when ur estrogen is too low the cravings and food control is nearly impossible !

Congratulations on your weight loss!! I know how you feel about being afraid to work out because you think you are going to hurt yourself. I used to go to the gym at least 4 times a week and I actually liked it. I had to have back surgery in 2015 and, unfortunately, it was a failed surgery and I am still in pain daily. I knew I needed to move but was so afraid I was going to hurt myself more. I still try to do something 3-4 times a week, only if it is just walking. Just go slowly and don't overdo it.
Way to go girll!!!! It's great that you didn't give in to those Golden Grahams! I relate to the mindless munching in the evening....I'm not even hungry but I just want all the chips!!!! Lol
I can totally relate to the fear of the scale. I’m thinking about getting a body composition scale because it’s frustrating weighing while weight training to build muscle. I also try to remind myself that people can see my muscles, but they’ll Never see that number on the scale!
BTW I had a spur in my right shoulder and suffered for years. I switched to another orthopedic surgeon and he operated on me. He shaved the spur and I have been pain free since. Just sharing my experience. Good luck.

I weigh myself daily to get over the whole scale thing. It has been 7 months and the sting is better, but not totally gone from normal fluctuations. I think I will weigh myself every day for the rest of my life like my naturally thin aunt did. I want to not pretend that I’m not gaining if that should happen in the future.

I definitely weigh myself daily, but I don't think you can always tell how your body reacts to everything. I, however, take the average of the week's weigh-ins. I do this because sometimes you might be up just a touch on 'weigh-in' day but are actually down for the week. I weigh first thing in the morning before I eat or drink anything and after I go to the bathroom. Anything you eat or drink adds to your weight. Good luck, lady, you will figure out what works for you!! Hugs
You don’t need exercise to lose weight. Weight loss happens with consistent calorie deficit, period. Best not to get into the mindset that you WON’T lose weight without exercising or you WILL lose weight with exercise. This can lead to disordered thinking and over exercising. Keep up I the good work.
Agree wholeheartedly Barbie! I don't think I'll ever be accused of over-exercising! I really just want to build muscle for strength and also get more flexible.
This is so right!! Weight loss happens in the kitchen. CICO calories in calories out! You can’t break the law of thermodynamics!!
Hi Bobbie, I’m one of those who weighs in every day. My reasoning is,that it keeps me in check, for the most part. I realize you can lose inches without losing weight too. I weigh first thing in the morning, because that is supposed to be your most accurate weight, but it’s important to always weigh at the same time each day. You are right about thinking of what you’ve had the day before, if your weight is up, and if you haven’t had a BM yet, that definitely all plays into it, and water retention. You’ll know if it’s right for you after trying it for a while. Just don’t let it get you down if you weigh more than the pervious day. My weight fluctuates 1-2 lbs daily, and then out of nowhere it’ll drop. I’m not on a restrictive diet, just taking it slow, and trying to eat healthier. I have the last stubborn 10-15 lbs to lose, and I know it will take time. Love your youtube channel so much. 💜 You’re inspiring me to keep going !

@@MindfulMidlife That’s a good way to look at it. ☺️ The app I used to use, and should get back too, has a graph that shows your progress. I think that helped me by looking at it, and seeing the line gradually going downhill. Losing weight is a state of mind partially, but I can’t always depend on my mind to encourage me. 🤣😂

Bobbie you just crack me up. After you gave your weight loss and then couldn't think of the word "heatwave" all I could think of is that a brain probably weighs 3 lbs. And this coming from a 59 year old woman who would forget her head if it weren't attached. Congrats on the 3lbs! When counting restaurant foods, especially someplace like Zoe's Kitchen, I'd count it as whatever a suggested serving is for the quinoa. They might have it on their website but I feel like they usually use suggested serving sizes for carbs. Like 1/2 cup or 1 cup of rice etc.

oh man i feel your pain..same thing happened to me...i Pray your arm pain doesnt come back...mine comes back on occation...its hard to do any exercises with that pain...oh and i wait to poop too to weigh myself..hahaha...i do the same...but i have a hard time with my non daily BM...it is so inconsistant...i just need that part to be everyday...but ya know.....lol...Congrats Bobbie!! Another tip is to brush your teeth when u feel a craving or sometimes after u have had your evening snack & want more brush your teeth. Who wants to dirty up their teeth again & have to brush them agsin? Sometimes this helps me distract myself.

LOL! I only weigh myself before breakfast, after pooping and without clothes on. That way it's a fair comparison from one time to the next. You're not alone.
Bobbie, you're hysterical!! If it's any consolation, I weigh myself after using the bathroom too - either pee or poop! Weighing daily has been very helpful and insightful for me. You'll only know if it's helpful f0r you by trying it for a week or two. I would suggest to only log it once a week, though.

Oh my gosh! I won’t weigh in until I p-p also. Usually if I wait it doesn’t happen. And I weigh myself naked. No hair clips or Fitbit either. Every other day is good, but weigh in day, nope. As far as the weights go, don’t use them initially. Do you weight training with body weight only. Could it be that when you bike ride, you are putting too much pressure on your shoulders?
I've been terribly sick with Covid for 16 days. When I am sick, I want carbs. I dread getting on the scale. Trying to give myself grace for being sick. I think I am going to weigh daily too.
First…I do hope you are better soon! Second…I’m right there with you on the carbs when I’m sick! Give grace to YOU!
The main reason I don't weigh myself everyday is because I get too discouraged. Up and down. Up and down. For no discernable reason. It depresses me and discourages me. I tell myself that if it's going to be like this, why bother? So now, I get on the scale once a week. If it's up, for some reason I don't get as flustered and I can (calmly) try to figure out why and make plans to change the my actions.
I wouldn't weight yourself everyday. The problem with that is some foods digest at different lengths. Exercise can immediately cause water retention. It's really hard to pin point exact foods that are causing weight fluctuation. I love how real you are!! It's a struggle when starting but don't obsess with the scale!!

I like weighing myself everyday. It doesn’t upset me. What does tho, is I have three gold bangles that I have worn daily for 30 years. I take them off every night and in the past three years some days they slide on and off and some days are “soap” kinda days. I decided for my own “mental health” to keep them on 24/7/365. No more deciding how I feel based on my bracelets. Sounds ridiculous, I know.
