I just turned 60 years old. I'm thinner now than I was in high school. I'm 121 lbs now. I was 158 lbs in high school. At 5"4, I was a little chunky.
I'm also happy to report that I am on less meds than I was in my 30s. In my 30s - 40s. I was on cholesterol meds and borderline diabetic, now I'm on no meds and my blood work is great.
I hear so many women say they can't lose weight. They're doing everything. I thought that too at 40 years old. I thought was eating healthy.
But, 1) I still ate too many carbs. Even if it was brown rice and whole-grain bread. 2) I found out when it comes to maintaining a healthy weight, you can't eat everything in moderation daily or even weekly, becaue that's how you stay stuck at the weight you are. And you have to move your body every day,
I walk 3 - 5 miles a day. People are like, where do you find the time? I don't sit in front of a tv. That's what people find time for. To watch their favorite shows but no time for exercise. You are a result of your habits.
Today, I have a no-refined carb and low sugar diet at least 75% of the time. On holidays, not even weekends. Only on holidays and special occasions, I'll go off and have a little bread, fried foods, or dessert. The thing is, is that most women don't want to do it, or they call it extreme. Meanwhile, they are living with diabetes and high cholesterol. Or they'll say, that diet works for you, everyone's different, without even trying to see if it really works for them, because it's too hard. I hate to say it, but that's their addiction to food. And they need an excuse for their addiction. It's not just your age and metabolism. It's what you're eating. You simply can't eat what you want and expect to lose weight.

Yes, good for you. Feels so good to figure "it" out and see the results. I'm doing similar at 60+ and dumped 50+ lbs and counting. Low carb, lots of walking etc. was my big win bc I no longer have those dreaded cravings that kept the weight on.

I lost 90 pounds in 2017 and have kept it off going on 6 years as of Jan 16th I haven't eaten anything with Sugar or flour in the past 6 years (No cookies, no soda, no cake) That's my secret. BTW it is very tough for me to keep off the weight. The main reason is that there is too much food choices out there. Ever been to a party with lots of food and you're the only person not eating. Well it's tough.

If you read between the lines, she had to "fix her" problems. When you do things holistically, it's based on what's going on in YOUR body. I use a holistic doctor and she did just that and I lost 65 lbs. My husband lost 85 lbs. Two different protocols because we had different issues that caused the weight gain and what damage done to our bodies previously had to be "fixed". That's why there weren't specifics.

I’ve literally stopped eating processed foods, lowered my carbohydrate intake and substituted for more healthier carbs like fruits and veggies opposed to starches, I limit how much sugar I consume, I increased my protein intake (I didn’t realize how little protein I was consuming until I began watching my micros/macros) to 165g, I lowered the amount of sodium I consume--I was literally eating 3x-4x the amount of recommended sodium and there is soooo much food that is high in sugar and sodium, I stopped eating out frequently which I LOVED fast food but now I prefer to cook at home even experimenting with foods and creating things that I enjoy eating, however still adhering to my diet. I’ve lost about 60lbs and kept it off for a long time, my concern was more about adopting new sustainable behaviors that would replace unhealthy ones, ex. I replaced soda and energy drinks completely for flavored seltzer water and black coffee (yeah, at first I despised the taste but I only focused on changing those foods since I realized it was what I was consuming on the daily) then in time I substituted almond milk for whole milk, after that everything just slowly fell into place. In about a years time I realized that I had completely changed my diet to foods that I still enjoyed, however when I would go shopping it was now a habit and I would pick the right foods on a subconscious level! That’s when I truly surprised myself and felt in complete control of my diet. I was heavy all my life and I knew I could lose the weight rather quickly but my goal was more to live a healthy lifestyle yet keep the weight off long term! Believe me, if I can do it, you can too! I paired all this up with a steady routine of gym work, I tend to go without fail on my off days, usually do about an hour, then on some workdays I will go and do a 30 min but if I feel energized then I’ll push myself longer. I also HIGHLY recommend you study the nutritional facts on foods, I downloaded two apps that have helped my in choosing the right foods and keeping track. You’d be SHOCKED how many foods have all this cancer causing additives and stuff that is proven to change your dna. I’ve learned soo much about nutrition that I’m considering pursuing an education in nutrition. I’m not the same man I was a few years ago and my family sees that and is just in awe by it. Anyway, best of luck to everyone on their fitness goals, if I did it, then you can too, just need to believe in yourself. Progress takes time. 💪🏻

Lost 15 lbs quickly, then stopped completely, on 1,200 or 1,000 cal a day, which is nothing. So I gave up. The missing key back then is that a few min. Of cardio boosts the metabolism. If the body thinks we’re starving it , the metabolic rate slows down to zero.

ETA: maybe the host should also mention she sells her unmentioned supplement on her website. I guess this is more of a commercial than anything.
Maybe she lost weight because she was eating better (especially when she comments that she did food testing and low sugar) which would in turn cause a calorie deficit and lead to weight loss? Agree there is tons of hidden sugar in the standard American diet and ultra processed foods should be avoided or rarely consumed. Weight training is also excellent for weight loss since if you can increase your muscle mass naturally with weight bearing activity you will lose more since muscle is calorie demanding.

Happy this doctor lost the weight, but I wish so many people weren’t vague about exactly what they did to lose it. This smells of monetization. Of course, she will have supplements for you to buy, books you won’t likely get anything new from, and a class for you to take. And at the end of it all, it will still be your fault you didn’t lose the weight because you could not “research” what was going on. This doctor was obviously wealthy enough and had many more resources most folks don’t have access to. This person is everything that is wrong with diet culture. The only true thing she said was cut out sugar. It would not surprise me if she was busy selling her own weight loss hormone shot. What a tired old story.
