It will work, I tried all the ways and I connected them both 😂 you have to try everything. Tried deleting the old device and turning off the phone Bluetooth. The key is getting the white light with both AirPods inside

This is what worked for me: I restarted the Bluetooth on my phone. Then with the set fully charged, I took out the original AirPod, and held the button on the case and the case light flashed white. Once it did that, the setup animation appeared on my phone. Finally, I put the original AirPod back in and it all connected together.

doesn’t work, saw that the firmware could be the problem and left it OVERNIGHT to charge and it still wasn’t connecting 🤦🏾‍♂️
