Ayo! I used to watch you WAAAAAY back before the UA-cam changes This short has reignighted the flame in me to make a homemade forge and to try and craft a knife
I had a 7in abrasive wheel explode on me a couple months ago and launch a large chunk into my left upper thigh and 2 smaller ones into my right. The ones that didn't hit me flew 60-80 feet or better. I got lucky and the blunt side of the big piece hit me so it didn't impale me, but it felt like somebody hit me in the leg as hard as they could with a baseball bat. I could hardly walk for 2 weeks or better and the bruise went from my waist all the way down to the top of my calf. Grinders are no joke and they demand respect. Let your guard down or misuse them and you will regret it, possibly for the rest of your (possibly short) life. I got lucky and it narrowly missed my genitals, but if it hadn't, it would have been bad. Use the guard, wear a faceshield, don't hold the disk in the same plane as your face, don't use old or damaged disks, and don't use a 7in disk on a 4in grinder.
This does happen frequently however there are more shards of disc in the glasses then what makes 1 disc. Staged but accurate. Always wear protection. It only takes 1 time to seriously injured or kill you if it hits an artery.
Cutting wheels have an expiration date printed on them which should not be disregarded - for exactly such reasons, even if it's slightly exaggerated here...

A few months ago I tried using an angle grinder for the first time. No PPE and shoved it right into the metal and it completely shattered the disk in half. Missed me but the fear hasn’t left me
1st, You don't do Armor no more? (It's okay, people fall out of interest and move on naturally). 2nd, You should make a pelvic plate and azz plate ( something you can sit down comfortably on a chair in) and do a short vid showcasing a 360° view of you wearing said armor. Keep up the good works man.

I witnessed a guy at work using a cutoff wheel with only safety glasses and the disc exploded and he took a big chunk of it to the cheek. In imbedded itself deep enough that it fucked up his gums and took a couple teeth with it

There was a guy at the factory i work who tried to clean the paint stuck to a grivding wheel by touching it to another paint covered wheel while they both spun... Anyways after they stitched his hand together he got fired
LOL. No but for real people wear a face shield. The 1st time I used an angle grinder the blade exploded. When I was walking back to the job box to get a new blade. I realized there was a nickel sized shard stuck in my face shield. That would have went straight for my eye.
Well after its happened to me a few times I wear a heavy jacket, and a jock, my boys are still laughing 29 yrs later about the ground hit lol and sucks when u pull shards outta ur arm and chest for 5 days lol
Not all attachments need them. But mostly because it's much faster to take it off than adjust it a million time's a day. They always seem to be in the way. Also its the same for the handle.
@@timothywilliams2021 I use a grinder every day for work (boiler maker) and I rarely adjust my guard. The grinder body has gotten in the way far more than the guard, and in those cases I'll switch to a flathead grinder. Old grinders had terrible adjustment for the guard needing tools but mine just has a button that lets you rotate it, takes half a second and is a solid lock up with no wobble. The prevention of injuries far outweighs any downsides to the guard, plus if you were on site without a guard on your grinder you won't be allowed there long

I had this happen to me once while i was cutting my fiberglass armor. That was when I learned to use the thicker blades when rounding the edges.
