Thank You Lesley Ford, I can't seem to send comments back to your comments but if you come back to watch the video maybe you'll see this and smile! Patti
Hello Serene! Yes, the wax works as the bonding agent and the top coat. It is quite a different look but I like it! I'm going to do some more around the next Christmas season since there are so many lovely Christmas napkins around then. I will have a look around for a mug that I can decoupage… Thanks for stopping in! Patti
Thankyou Sistahgold! I'm sorry I didn't make this video closer to Christmas, I am thinking that for next Christmas I can decorate several little baby jars this way and turn them over to sit on top of tiny white Christmas lights! It's a fun project too... Patti
That's beautiful Patti😊 I'm definitely going to try this, I have some left over wax from when I made candles/tarts. It's a soy mix but hopefully it will work. I also bought a few of your napkins off of Zazzle and they are so pretty!!! Thank you for all you do😊🙋
Hi Randy, & Thank you! I don't see why you couldn't use fabric, though I would think it has to be thin fabric. Maybe you can try it out on a smaller jar like a baby food jar to see if it works. I'm curious, if you do it and you have some time, maybe you can let me know how it turned out? Thanks again Randy, Patti
Thank you for making this Patti. I loved this video, and the tea light holders look amazing! I hope you don't mind that I added this to my site (with full credit to you). I'm on a mission to educate the world in the ways of upcycling and your video was just what I was looking for! Keep up the great work :)
You are welcome & It's great that you added it to your site, www.upcycledword.com ….I'm with you. Why throw things out when you can make something so pretty and or useful? I'll be spending some time on your site today, thank you! Patti
Well, what a great idea to use the wax! Those jars area absolutely gorge!!!! You do such beautiful work and I love the bright colors you choose. So, so pretty! Oh WoW!! I just went to get the napkins to tell you what they look like and the first one I see looks just like your butterfly one!! Mine says Magnolia on it but the colors are blues, too....well, ..turquoise. And...a pretty one "American Goldfinch'... a little yellow birdie and it looks vintagey with a little post card on it, too. Then...(this one is really beautiful, it's my favorite) it has a big pink and an off white dogwood flower and looks like some french script and a cute little piece of sheet music. They are all muted tones and sooo pretty!! Then the last 2 themes I picked up ...one is red, black, gray and white and it says "I Adore Paris" ...but no Eiffel Tower (I LOVE all things Eiffel Tower!!) it has color blocks of other Paris things, and the last one is simple yellow and black and one fluer de lis. It's kinda ugly but I figure I can rip out the fluer de lis and piece it in with some other napkin . They are all so pretty tho. I forgot what the other ones looked like but I sure hope your local Dollar Tree has them!!! I was so excited to tell you!! Pay it foreward...right?? You helped me make those gorgeous bottles I get so many compliments on!! :) And I thank you! Ok Had to come back and comment on your very lovely jars that now look like a MILLION!!! Take care~ Jill
Jill! Thank you so much!!! I keep forgetting that I can actually go into a Dollar store and check for napkins! I am always looking for napkins! You are so welcome, it makes my day when I can help someone create something they can feel so proud of! Happy Holidays, Y'all!!I've watched several of your YT videos and love not only the ideas for texting and cheaper crafting, but the small tips and tricks you use/mention on suffering ways to assemble of the crafts. I had the crazy notion that I would get into scrap booking right before my daughter was born and went a lil crazy on the scrapbooking printed paper and I now have a TON of gorgeous patterns and NOT ONE finished scrapbook. :-P Can you use scrapbook paper on your decopodge crafts instead of tissue paper, wrapping paper or napkins? Can you send me a link if you have a video on that or maybe a similar craft that COULD use scrapbook paper? I can't wait to finish all my Christmas gifts - hopefully by next week at the latest... WISH ME LUCK, Y'ALL!! :-D :-D Thanks for all your ideas and knowledge you've shared w us! God Bless, Laura
+Laura Dulak Thank you Laura, you sound like me, I always get these ideas and then gather hundreds of items, jars, bottles, napkins, what ever my fancy is at the time and before I know it, I don't have anywhere near the time to work on all of these! I will do a video on how to decoupage with scrap paper after the holidays -but in the meantime you can follow these same instructions. It is best to start out on something small like one of those small wooden plaques you get from the craft store. You may not need to paint under scrap book paper since it's thicker and will compensate for any nicks or ridges in the wood beneath. Let me know if you have any questions. ua-cam.com/video/3cunvhEJytk/v-deo.html Patti

Hi Emily, I have been trying to think of a wider yet heavier surface that you could heat up and use, but I'm thinking a butter knife is a good way to go. I also have a suggestion because I've have used this on actual candles to get papers to stick. I put a napkin over the candle (you could put it over the wax) then took a sheet of waxed paper and pulled it around the candle, then used a heat gun over it. If you don't have a heat gun, you can see if your hair dryer gets hot enough. The following is NOT my video but it's what I'm explaining and you can do this same thing over the wax on the jars. But instead of stamped images just use your napkins. This will make more sense one you watch the video. I hope this helps! :) ua-cam.com/video/EtMmuDbgf08/v-deo.html Patti
Hi! You know what? I've never tried it that way but I would think you could do it that way. I hadn't thought about that. Let me know how it comes out. If it doesn't work well you can always melt the wax off and start over. 🌝 Patti
Hi Ciara! I'll give you a link to my website where you can purchase it directly, but I think it's called a mini craft iron? I couldn't find this one on my site anywhere in the stores. They do sell them (in Michaels and Joanns, Hobby Lobby etc) but they don't sell the other pieces with it. I know they sell the pieces separately which can get costly. On my site it's also free shipping. I hope that helps Ciara! Patti upcyclewithdecoupage.vpweb.com/Product-My-favorite-things-.html
Hi Barbara and you are welcome! I did use a tea light in one of the jars and it started to melt the coating. I suspect it's b/c the tea light is surrounded by metal, which heats the glass and continues to bake it. I wonder if they've invented a prettier and brighter LED candle light yet. I'll have to look into it. Sorry I didn't have better news. I like the look of the natural candle a whole lot more myself. Patti
Hi Louanna, Thank you! Oh, and at three minutes into the video I show you a melting pot with the beeswax in it. It's a Ranger product. Both that and the craft iron are available at this link. The craft iron is about 23 dollars and change. Hope that helps! astore.amazon.com/upcylewithdec-20?node=4&page=9 Patti
Louanna Sotelo Hello Louanna, you're so welcome! My book is available @ Barnes on line but you can also order it right here along with any other decoupage products you might want. Thanks for asking! astore.amazon.com/upcylewithdec-20?node=4&page=9
I didn't get a chance to watch the whole video, but won't the wax on the outside of the glass melt when heat is applied? Do you use real or fake candles in the jars?
Hi Anne, About 3 and half minutes into the video there's a banner across the video that says to use LED candles. They don't get hot. If you use real votives which are usually in those little metal containers, that will heat the glass and melt the wax-which we don't want. The little LED Christmas lights are best to use inside for that reason too. (as opposed to the incandescent lights which can warm up too much also) Patti
Hi Cynthia Lynn, thank you ! I print photo's out from my computer onto my photo paper, so I have not tried to decoupage them onto photo paper. But are you thinking of decoupaging something like napkins or or some other pretty paper onto photo paper? I am thinking the glossy paper would make it hard but if you can find a matte photo paper, you should be able to do it. :) Patti
Hi Brittney, sorry for the delayed response. I am not on Twitter but I am on Facebook @ Upcycle with Decoupage. You can also post pictures of your work over there if you like! Thanks, Patti
Brittney Espinosa Brittney, I'm not sure if you can private message me on Facebook but I'll give you my email, it's paperpaster@gmail.com. I'm the only one who see's those emails. Is the wax stay on the jar after some time or does it pill off?
For the initial coat of wax on the bare jars, would it be alright to dip them instead of paint it on? Or does it put too much wax?
Hi!
You know what? I've never tried it that way but I would think you could do it that way. I hadn't thought about that. Let me know how it comes out. If it doesn't work well you can always melt the wax off and start over. 🌝

I love these..I want to know what's that iron called you used on the jars?

Thanks again for sharing, just one question, if I were to use regular candles/tealights would this melt the candle wax holding the napkins?
Hi Barbara and you are welcome! I did use a tea light in one of the jars and it started to melt the coating. I suspect it's b/c the tea light is surrounded by metal, which heats the glass and continues to bake it. I wonder if they've invented a prettier and brighter LED candle light yet. I'll have to look into it. Sorry I didn't have better news. I like the look of the natural candle a whole lot more myself.

I was wondering the same thing
Hello patioelf i really liked you cute idea on recycling. I didn't see in the video how you heated up the paraffin wax. How much was the iron? Thanks
Hi Louanna, Thank you! Oh, and at three minutes into the video I show you a melting pot with the beeswax in it. It's a Ranger product. Both that and the craft iron are available at this link. The craft iron is about 23 dollars and change. Hope that helps!

I didn't get a chance to watch the whole video, but won't the wax on the outside of the glass melt when heat is applied? Do you use real or fake candles in the jars?
Use fake votive candles.
These are amazing!!! Let me know what you think of mine😊
Just a little puzzled how when you put a candle in the jar that the decoupage doesn't fall off. Can you explain why it is ok?
Hi Anne,
About 3 and half minutes into the video there's a banner across the video that says to use LED candles. They don't get hot. If you use real votives which are usually in those little metal containers, that will heat the glass and melt the wax-which we don't want. The little LED Christmas lights are best to use inside for that reason too. (as opposed to the incandescent lights which can warm up too much also)

cynthia lynn Encaustic is an art form that uses wax. :)
TY....Your the only one one hear I can learn something...can u decopoge pictures on photo paper
Patti
YOU HAVE INSPIRED ME TO USE THE NAPKIN!!!!! :)
cynthia lynn Great! I hope you have fun with this Cynthia. It's a really nice project to do. :)

Brittney Espinosa Brittney, I'm not sure if you can private message me on Facebook but I'll give you my email, it's paperpaster@gmail.com. I'm the only one who see's those emails. We are currently having some issues with an aging parent so I have not been able to tend to my emails as often. I try to get back to people daily but it's been taking me a couple of days now.

Отвратительно! Не аккуратно и не красиво.
So sad. The rest of the comments I've gotten from Russian Women were lovely. I guess there are miserable people all over the world though huh? LOL.
Awful music
