For all those wondering why textures don't work: Your Model will only have textures if you use the extracted vanilla jar like him. So the folder structure must be the same vanillar jar/assets/ and so on. As you can see in the json file, everything is being chosen from block/block_name , which is part of the normal path of minecraft blocks. He literally also said that at minute 31-ish Of course there is another way to get textures, that is by adding them to the your resource pack. (There are enough tutorials on that on youtube, so just search for it)

I was thinking about to change a Pickaxe with Silk Touch, so you can clearly see, this is a silky one. I broke my enderchest to often with the Fortune Pick ^^
Honestly I'm not sure. I know there are custom data types with equipment so it may be possible. Whenever I made them I just renamed them with a pickaxe to change the model. But I'm not sure what's possible in the latest versions of Minecraft/Optifine, this was done for 1.14.4

Hi, yes there is a way. The solution to this is to make a datapack which you can find how to make on youtube. You will have to attach different nbt datas to different types of enchanted swords then make the texture for them. Hope this helps! If you have any further question just respond to this comment

You may be clicking "apply to untextured faces" which adds them to the entire model. Try the other options, but I can't remember the correct one edit: it applies it to the entire cube actually
So recently I actually made a test model for an Emerald Pickaxe, but like an idiot i selected “Free Model” instead of “Java Block/Item” Luckily it’s not that complex, so it should be fairly easy to rebuild it as a Java Model.
This is probably a big noob question. But shouldn't each block be a 1/16 block of a 1x1 m cube in Minecraft? Asking because of the small incremental size changes with Shift and Shift Alt CTRl are much smaller than the typical 16x16px block.

Just rename the downloaded .json file so that it matches the ids of minecraft items. For example, instead of future_pickaxe.json, do diamond_pickaxe.json, and put it in the assets/minecraft/models/item folder. You might also need to put the imported textures in the assets/minecraft/textures as well.

Im modeling some guns for an upcoming project my friend and i are working on and were having issues with animating the guns into the players hand in game while in first and third person view i see people doing this just fine but i don’t know what its not working for us I’ve created the gun models using the item wizard

yooooo, i recently got into making texture pack for myself, kinda like faithful but more faithful lmao, like i keep the vanilla look but give the x16 textures more detail without making it look cartoon. I also made some pig/cow variants, i could only really do colour because its so hard to edit how a mob looks on the spreadsheet. This is just another level, i can make different models themselves and then just recolour like i was doing, im sure as hell going to try make a variation for a mob with new model~!
edit: never mind this is even harder ahahah, for some reason i thought once i make the model, i could apply the vanilla texture and just recolour the bits that are new, but seems like you need to create the texture for the model, in other words its too complicated if your just doing this for fun xD
Great video but I have a problem when I rename the pickaxe it doesn't changes the texture followed all the steps and watch the video back to back the hole time. I also tried your pack to see if I did something wrong and it also doesn't work. I am using 1.14.4 and optifine btw
@@__hanziii_7209 open minecraft menu, open options, then go to video settings, then to quality and then go and turn on custom items, custom GUIs, custom skies and custom Entity Models. that way you will be able to use his tutorials properly becuase if not you cant see the models you made in game.
How do you make it so instead of having to name it the model will always be used? I'm trying to make a 3d anvil and I want to always use it when using the texture pack. I had a look on the optifine propeties, but I could not find how to do it.

Double check your texture path. If the model loads but the texture doesn't it means it can't find the file.
