Whitelight don’t ever compare the city from need for speed 2015 to fh4 they are different due to game mechanics and functionality. Anyways the game now has route creator so and it is always updating, as the developers are in touch with the community(more than any other racing game developers)
Umm... you clearly Havent Gone into livery And Customisation . You can make More Money In FH4 If you make Tuning Setups And Liveries . Sure This is An Old Video Given that there Have been Updates And Expansions since Then but you Still Completely Ignored Car Custumisation and Livery Design. I made About 73 million Credits Simply By Designing Cars And Uploading Them On the Creative hub.
Yeah, I love this game but I absolutely hate the winter season, how is it logical to race fast, in a fast car, in a race w tight turns and snow and ice on the ground, u slip and slide everywhere
The seasons arent just visual. Cars slide easier in winter due to the ice and snow. Springs rain makes driving hypercars more challenging due to the constant rain at times. Summer is the perfect driving weather for any car with fall being the only one that's mostly visual

The seasons are mostly visual. It still rains in summer, and a lot of races have rain. The only difference is frequency. I guess it's a good thing the races don't matter if you win or lose either, because the AI is 100% not affected by rain leaving you at a massive disadvantage. And winter looks so shit that it's a week out of every month I won't play the game.
@Dawid XCX I think that mostly comes from the random snowy-roads that act like asphalt, and the random asphalt roads that act like snow lmao
I still think FH1 had the best sense of progression and "story."
First things first, the characters weren't all douchebag hipsters.
You didn't already own a $700,000 supercar, you had a VW.
You had to race to the festival to be included during a special promo.
Each race type had a "champion" along with an overall Horizon Champion that you actually worked towards racing.
Beating champions and showcase events won you the car. I had a good selection of cars by the end just from winning races and playing the game, buying very few.
The difficulty actually increased as you rose up the ranks.
The final race was FAR more memorable than in anything any of the later games had.
The Champions all interacted with you, usually shit talking, but it's still something.
FH2 immediately went to "Here, you get a supercar and run the festival." But you're just a random guy... why are you running the festival? And sure, there was 6 locations or whatever, but there was only so many tracks in each location that it got extremely repetitive.

@@Whitelight Didn't you play it? It started off with "We're going to let you pick the next locations and races." I didn't really play 3, but it seems like it just added to that with "blueprints."

@Leo Enduro I really think that FH1 had the best driving roads. I haven't tried 4 yet, but the roads in 1 were just fun as hell to drive on. FH2 was very wide-open with not really a lot of elevation change, banks, or curves. Not like FH1 anyways. The road along the coast was okay, but still nothing compared to the mountain road in FH1 that really nailed the feeling of going up a mountain.
Horizon 1 absolutely nailed it down with the progression and even the story

And it's fucking garbage. Somehow putting the game on a different store platform makes the game have technical issues like stutters, freezing, infinite or longer loads than needed, completely broken wheel support, etc. It's still better to buy it on MS Store, and me being a dipshit, bought it on Steam and tried to fix it before unsuccessfully trying to get a refund with Steams absolute dogshit refund policy.

This games presentation really was next level for a racing game, gave me actual goosebumps and got me excited for playing, something I haven't felt of a racing game for a long time

The final point about innovation really resonated with me. Especially since I looked at Horizon 5 trailers and thought "yeah cool, but FH 4 is discounted so I'd just rather buy that".

We normally get a Forza Motorsport from Turn10 that does the initial work on the game engine, so it seems like FH5 is 2021 or 2022 the way it stands now

Considering he only started a year ago and has only around 28 videos uploaded, he's doing AMAZINGLY well to have 35k subs. Most new UA-camrs these days don't get that kind of sub momentum until a few years and many more video submissions. I think the fact that he's gained this many subs in such a short amount of time/videos shows that his stuff is very high quality. Given that it's only 28 videos in one year, I'd say he has a full-time job or is studying. I'd recommend the guy to take some time off just to make youtube videos and see how it goes, because if he dedicated all of his time to make videos there's a decent chance he could increase sub count even faster and make it big.

Great video as always, just a couple things to note that were incorrect in the video:
1. The seasons are not just visual, they affect the grip offered by roads in different areas during different seasons.
2. While road and street racing are similar, there are a few differences besides the time of day. One is that many of the barriers in road racing would be missing in street racing so not breaking early enough is punished harder, also there is street traffic in street racing. None in road racing
Yyup and also street scene is "anything goes" where it puts in every type of car in your Performance Index ballpark. While road race defaults to specific type you enter (hot hatch/ retro sports car/ hyper car / modern rally or whatever)
Top notch review through and through. It was a joy to watch and listen to this.
I honestly wish there was something like a "Forza Horizon: Underground" or "Forza Underground" type game where it's focused more on street races and what not. Maybe instead of focusing on a ridiculous number of cars they could instead focus on a smaller amount but have more customization such as exterior mods. I feel like Forza really needs to do something new and interesting to focus on other than just the festival, maybe it could go something like you sneak your way in through a street racing group to get into the festival or whatever so the focus isn't just on the festival but also on the street racing scene.

What you just described is The Crew. It certainly isn't the best game in the world, but as a proof-of-concept for most of what you just said you wanted, it's perfect

Great review of the offline game, but that's just part of it. The multiplayer is a complete disaster. Forced team adventure and freeroam rush, regardless of the car class, is KILLING any longevity this game might've had. You can personally finish 1st every race and lose/rank down. It's abysmal. And that's not even mentioning the checkpoint rammers and how incredibly long it takes just to find a game.
The base game was cool for the week or so it lasted but online is what keeps me coming back. I don't feel like collecting 500+ cars and tuning them for a half-assed, nonsensical online mode. That's the biggest issue with the game.
Forced teams, Freeroam Rush, rank being determined by team performance rather than individual performance, etc.
I had more engaging moments in the PvP mode of The Crew 2 (which incidentally, did ranked PvP better)
Back in 2019 when they put the Apollo car in the multi-player event, people were pushing each other off the road because for "the trolls" and I got pissed real badly
Multi-player Events in FH4 is so bad man, too much toxic players but hey...thats expected in the gaming world
@@MNightbirb Lol I remember. The pvp is definitely better now than it was at launch, but being forced to engine/drivetrain swap every car to be competitive is what killed the game for me.

Sorry but gonna have to disagree with you there, playing on Unbeatable/Pro, not getting to the front of the pack ASAP means the leader just walks away and you'll have to settle with a podium. And if you do get in front, the AI just end up on your ass immediately, regardless if their previous pace.

The AI cars in unbeatable and pro levels are impossibly fast. Like when you are blasting on highway at 300+ kph in a Pagani, and suddenly a bloody Focus overtakes you!
The rubberbanding at these difficulties was annoying as fuck!!!

I generally find pro is optimal. Unbeatable is just annoying because of rubberbanding, and expert is too easy. Pro is just in the middle, so it's best in my opinion
There is no rubberbanding in the game lol. The only problem with unbeatable is that 10 out of the 11 AI racers are vegetables and then theres the guy in front who actually drives relatively competently. Add to that the fact that youre always starting in the back and yeah i can see how races with too many tight roads can be annoying to get past the pack but realistically the cars arent faster than they should be given the appropiate tuning.
That cheeky use of DriveClub OST at 6:30 , it's pretty good!

As someone who recently started this game and never really got into this genre or knows anything about cars, my suggestion to anyone looking at it who isn't experienced with simulation or sim-cade racers is to not immediately main S2/X class cars like the game tempts you to do. Instead stick to A/S1 at first; S1 is the most popular class for online races anyway. S2 and X class are much more demanding to race effectively without assists.
Also don't worry about being overwhelmed by the tuning options. Most people who aren't car-nuts are as well and you can get by just fine by using stock tunes or downloading custom tunes from other people. Just keep in mind that the game prevents you from modifying or looking at some of the specs for online tunes in order to prevent people from copying them and publishing them as their own.

I’ve been searching for reviews. I saw plenty of positive reviews with not enough critical analysis (all of their critiques were all the same as well) and I just wasn’t sold on the idea that it was THAT good with little to no areas in need of improvement.. I very much enjoyed this video. You definitely did a great job picking this game apart and explaining that it’s got a lot of issues and plenty of room for improvement. You made points about the game that other reviews didn’t even bother mentioning and you definitely focused on what may make-or-break the experience for some. I feel like I’ve got a better understanding of what I might be getting into if I shell out the money for this game. Thank you.

The James Bond seasonal events, if you play online and don’t have the car pack, you could pick any cars. Had to race an old Vantage from the movie living daylights against huracan and some other fast stuff...
There are roadworks in the map, they're seasonal though.

I would like it if they had actual performance progression, like forcing everyone to start in a D100 level car and you’d have to unlock your upgrades before buying them. The upgrades could be either tied to the player’s level or progress in the story as to not be too tedious, but still have actual progress. And you’d also unlock each class of car (D, C, B, A, S, R, P, and X) as you progress.
For Rivals, it would be much more enjoyable and fair to have it be set up by car instead of by class or type. You wouldn’t have to deal with 1 or 2 cars decimating the leaderboards if every car will only ever be competing against itself.

actually... this is also true for horizon 2 and 3. In Horizon 2 the radio just didn't switch to the of the song, so... I found that one out by accident, when I noticed that on every showcase there is one certain radiostation which always plays the same song^^
Arguably people buy the Deluxe because of the included season pass, the rest is just bonus

Great Review! I agree with everything you say. And hope they fix it soon! Especially for Forzathon, it's waaay to boring. I think I have more fun meeting other drivers, car meet style and just chilling than doing the same thing over and over again.

You talked a bit about the differences between the standard and more expensive versions. I got the ultimate version 4 months ago, which was in sale for the price of the standard one. Problem is, I started with a huge amount of cars from the DLC and th€ "car pass”, and also 40 free super wheelspins. After spinning them all, I had a hundred of cars, 5 millions credits, and I had not played a single race. This was my first real racing game, and I was already lost with learning the handling (and unlearning some other game's handling like TrackMania), the upgrade system, the tubing system, that after doing the first 4 seasons, I was really like "wtf do I do". So many cars, so much money, I could basically buy any car, any upgrade, anything, and because of the stories being hidden on the map, as you mentioned, I just didn't know where to go. As much as I love this game today, I don't know if I'll still be playing it if it didn't cost 50€.
Fortunately, I found my way through the stories, and UA-cam is just filled with tuning tutorials, the forums with car recommendations, Reddit with suggestions of things to do, and the feature find groups of players playing right now and join them in voice chat on Windows 10 and Xbox is a great way to meet other players and just drive around for fun.
TL;DR : The ultimate edition gave me way too much money and cars at the beginning of the game that I was completely lost and almost stopped playing.

You forgot to mention that it’s a pain in the ass to drive during the winter and even more annoying in the spring rain. Also that it’s impossible to keep up with Ai in street dirt and off road races .
Took me a while to notice, but the original Forza music playing during this video makes for a nice callback.

I played FH3 for a year. I stopped playing FH4 after completing all the races. That tells you all you need to know. The online sucks because of freeroam rush, no championships, no reason to even come in first place in races, and much much more. It's not bad, but it's not "play every day" good like they wanted it to be.

I love fh4 but man I was hoping for something more "new" and added. Like the seasons are sweet but after that I look like what else has changed form fh4? the map was sweet, but I was hoping for more customization compared to past games, they're kinda stagnating in car customization. And the races are low-key bad, like why do the other racers have the same level as me, it makes it impossible to predict the speed/handling of their car when it has random and non described mods on it. And the AI does impossible maneuvers in corners that it pretty much rubber banding. This is probably the only game where I prefer to race with people because the AI isnt simulated on a car level, theyre simulated on a track level meaning they practically go around the track with no regard to their car's physics...play dirt races and cross country races on unbeatable to see what im talking about. I will say the sense of speed is amazing, probably the best in any open world game. Like whitelight said, its amazing when you first boot it up, but after the spectacle, and if you've been playing past forzas you may not be "blown out your seat".

The problem with Horizon is that it feels *very* similar. And I don’t mean the overall theme. It just feels exceedingly similar in many areas.
I appreciate many of the changes and stuff they’ve done, but they shouldn’t be afraid to try something a little more radical besides the seasonal change. At the same time, let’s not change it to the point where the game suffers.
Like the multiplayer. It’s totally fine to be conservative but being too conservative isn’t exactly a good thing, and the same goes for being too progressive

As I wanted some specific cars and Fortune Island expansion, I bought the ultimate edition and after a couple of events, I got "VIP membership" and other DLC's unchecked from the Steam menu because I started to feel the lack of progression and reward. They should'v leave all those extra DLC cars available to buy with credits just like all other cars and not throw them at players like it's nothing.
Wheel spin is half the trouble but Superwheelspins are the most ridiculously idiotic and massive spoiler of progress/reward factor!

You don’t know how many times I’ve gotten common cars and legendary clothes and horns, horns and clothes are nice, but not more legendary than a 918. I wish the wheel spins are only limited to credits and cars.
I agree, it’s the most frustrating thing in the game getting a super wheelspin and only getting horns and clothes that I’ll never use.
I really liked the characters from the first horizon.

To be honest, ive also played Horizon 3, i really liked it, then i saw the Trailers of Horizon 4 and pre-ordered the ultimate edition. Which hasnt affected the way i play the game, because i believe this is my favorite game of all. Also, i had the normal edition of Horizon 3 and i hated having to buy the DLC for 20€ EACH.

New comer here, good vid!! For sure its the best arcade racing out there! But it has some considerable flaws.
Finally someone saying something about the credit system. But imho its even worse than pointed in the vid, considering im a huge car nerd and would love to buy many of the classic ferraris or alfas, Mercedes and lambos, it's almost impossible. Check the car prices only at Ferrari.
Getting 10-20K. makes a chore to raise money.
Or You can grind the goliath or whatever bigger final events (may get you a lot more) but it's still a huuge ass grind if you wanna have all the coolest stuff. ( Not even saying about the houses with 10/15M $)
Kills the fun and the hope to have the cars. And that's why there are a lot of videos on how to exploit the game flaws to make more money. Cuz its kinda broken.
On the races subject, personally I see a lot of difference between street races and "legal" races, so i dont really agree, but what really grind my gears is when you in a cross country or dirt event and the AI cars goes trough the fences, walls, grass etc many times without destroying them and not having their speed affected at all.
I saw many times the AI cars just going trough them so I had to destroy and be the only one affected. Keeping me behind.
I preferred the speed and drfit zones in fh3. With the variable of traffic. Now is so focus on the hardcore players with the ghost system that the unpredictability is dead on them. And, to me, that was part of the fun/difficulty.

I know this is a kinda old video but I have to say this because no one else did apparently. I disagree with you on the subject of credits and cost of faster cars. You make it seem damn near impossible to get the most expensive cars and that it's all luck based but personally the most profitable thing for me to do is publish tunes/paintjobs and reselling cars on the auction house. That way it actually makes me feel that I should have every car for free, I have so much money in game anyway. Anyway, great vid, keep 'em coming!
Forza have one problem (or advance) why it not released on Steam. This game have common Eco-system with Xbox Live. So even on PC you play with Xbox players through Xbox for Windows. Releasing this game at Steam will be complicated because of it. I think it's the only reason why multiplayer games from MicroSoft not on Steam yet.
I played NFSMW 2005 until 2018 simply because there weren’t any other better racing games that interested me. So imagine my shock when I played FH4. 😮

Watching this in 2021 I got the Ultimate edition on Steam for roughly 1400 Indian rupees which is not even $19. Compared to the last 3 NFS titles, still a better deal. Amazing game too.
To my taste....Fh5 should use the same formula and aspects of Forza horizon 1 and 2 like LEVEL PROGRESSION with a fair grind (I wanna use the slower cars first then work my way up) and NO EMOTES WHATSOEVER. Just a huge amount of character types and outfits separated from the wheelspins is fine. Also championship tournaments and events of specific vehicle types and specific classes with restrictions that don't allow cars with engine swaps to prevent the races from being redundant. So pretty much like 1 and 2 with updated visuals and customization👍👍
