I was instantly hooked and have found my internet playground on here. I named my daughter Vivienne.
We call her Vivi and she is vivacious and full of life. She was 6 years in the making with IVF so the meaning of “life” really was everything to us!
Aww if my second was a girl I was going to call her vivi! Such a cute name!

For anyone with concerns like Louise that you won't like a name over time, I suggest not worrying about that!
Number one when you give a child a name, that name sort of stops being a nebulas concept and instead becomes representative of that person. Over time they're name becomes theirs and you won't think of it as 'what I named my child' and will instead go 'my child's name'.
Number two, any issues and names can be changed! It's pretty common now to change your name officially, unofficially, doesn't matter! Names are as important as we make them and the individual eventually gets control over that so no issue! I personally changed my name several times over my life and it's never distressed me!
I completely agree! My sister and I have both changed our nicknames from the ones our parents initially picked for us, and it felt so freeing to be able to say "no, this is my name now". I've also known people who choose to go by their middle names instead of their first, etc.
My Daughter changed her name when she was 10 from Skye to Raven 💚
you know when you meet someone with a name you love but they're an awful person and you're just like whyyyy are you ruining this name for me 😭😂

I loved the name Iris so much but then worked with a woman called Iris who was awful

“I could see it in comic sans” had me howling
Filling in the rest of the Penelope story. Our Sadie was going to be named Penelope as well. We also called my bump Penelope/Penny/Poppy. Ultimately it didn’t feel right for our little girl either. It kinda felt like I was forcing it but it just wasn’t right, and we went with Sadie June. There was a tiny part of me that mourned the loss of that whimsical story book little Penelope but I was happy to pass it on to Louise instead. When she decided to go with Pearl (which I loooove so much), It made me feel oddly like we had made the right choice with Sadie as well. I also love that we both have these vivacious toddlers with little old lady names. 🥰

i adopted a cat called Sadie in 2009, forever upset that i won't be able to name my own child Sadie haha it's such a gorgeous name.

Showing my age here, but Cosmo makes me think of Cosmo and Wanda from Fairly Odd Parents haha and thusly I’m not mad at it!
I haven’t had any children yet, but as a teacher I am already genuinely finding it hard to make a list of names. My partner is also a teacher so any name is related to one of the hundreds of children we’ve once taught 😂
I don’t have children either but I am in the same position! We are both teachers!
I’m a teacher too, not near the stage of having kids yet but there are already so many names that I just won’t be using 🙈😂
I'm a teacher too and we found it hard to pick names as I couldn't have some names as they were linked to students I had. We found out at 20 weeks what we were having so we only had to pick one gender which made it easier.
lol i've heard this is a common struggle with teachers.

Violetta reminds me of my beloved childhood favourite ice cream Viennetta 😍 the world started to go to shit when everyone stopped serving that at parties

I’ve always wanted to name my baby girl something Irish as it’s where I’m from, and I’ve always been in love with the name Cora - also Titanic is my favourite film and in Titanic, that’s the little girl Jack Dawson dances with and says ‘you’re still my best girl Cora’ before dancing with Rose 😊 for a boy I love Levi and Leo!
Apollo is a great name. He was the Greek god of poetry, singing, archery, medicine and prophesy. Not a destroyer at all.
he's also the god of plague ! so there are destructive connotations with him !!

Atlas too was a greek titan and he was condemned to hold up the sky for eternity. he was later turned into stone forming the atlas mountains of north africa
I’m probably the only person who’s meh about Apollo because my name being Daphne so if you go into the myth of Apollo and Daphne it makes sense 😂
DASH was also the name of the Kardashian sisters clothing stores in the US.
Is also the middle name of Kourtney's son. 😊

Dash also means to run fast, or to look good 'dashing' people use it as a word too!

I’ve just named my 1 month old “Maisie Joy” to go with her brother “Llewyn Mathew” ... both where nameless for days! SO incredibly hard to name a human!! X

My ancestors that were sisters had beautiful unique names Florence Ollie, Susie Belle, Della Evelyn, Rebecca Arnetta. Very pretty. :) I really liked your list for girls a lot. I've always loved gemstone names too, like Opal. I like Rosalie a lot as well.

It’s so cool to hear people actually appreciate the name Florence. As someone with that name I love hearing people talk about it Cus it’s not very common!
Yes I agree! People always tell me it’s a grandma name so I’m glad it’s getting the appreciation now haha
In terms of changing your mind over time, I don't think you would ever dislike the name you ended up choosing because it's attached to your child. So even if you wouldn't choose it anymore, you're still associating it with someone you love!

My great-grandpa's middle name was Knight. I always thought that was really cool. He was born in the 1890s, and they were pretty creative and trendy with names back then. His sister-in-law was named Zulieme, which I do not like but can appreciate its uniqueness.

Arthur is the name of my grandfather who passed away a few years ago and I’d love to use it as a middle name if I ever have a little boy
We had Pearl, Walt and Percy (and Iris) on our list because they are the names of my husband's grandparents.

I really like Percy Pentland. Reminds of Sir Pervival Blakeney from the Scarlet Pimpernel ( dashing, heroic). Atlas Pentland is so metaphorical and adventurous sounding. Walt Pentland is lovely too. Makes me think of a tall, kindly Scottish writer that smells like wool and pine needles. Love Florence (Florrie, Flossie, cute!), Quinn Pentland.

Funny how names stick with you... As soon as I heard Vivienne, I thought "oh no" because I think of the sneaky posh woman engaged to Warner in Legally Blonde hahaha! But as a name by itself, it is lovely x
My daughter is called Lilia, she’s nearly 13 and I still love it. Others we considered were Ophelia (decided it was too tragic,still love it though). I really love the names Logan and Aaron for boys x

I loved a lot of your choices! I think we have quite similar taste in names, though I have a few more unusual girl names that I really like. As a teacher I find it very hard finding names I've not already encountered!
I don't want children, but picking names for pets is super fun. If I ever get a female pet, maybe a dog, I think Nova is such a cool name.

I love Vivienne & Florence so much! They're both on my potential kids list. Florence Ada was my great grandmas name and I just adore it. I also really like Opal. I'm a big fan of gem names as well, Ruby being my ultimate favorite girl name.

Love love love Atlas!! 😍 even for a girl I love it. Shah Mitchell named her little girl Atlas a year or two ago and ever since, I’ve been hooked.
My dogs name is Vivienne and it suits her so much, she’s not old but her mannerisms are that of a distinguished lady dog (if that makes sense?). She’s also a rescue dog after being used for breeding so although her circumstances were horrible I like to think that she gave life, and now she gets her life. She’s also beautiful and so sweet 🐾 Thank you for telling me what her name means ❤️
Not with a dog, but my late kittycat acted like a little lady when we first adopted her! She used to sit like a lady and had the prettiest looks! We even called her Lady though and I'd never call a baby that...I do have a real love for L names though!
