- This one has been on my bucket list for a while. You know what isn't on there? Getting absolutely stitched up...
This challenge consists of one 3lb slice of cake, a burger, onion rings, fried pickle and a portion of fries...or that's usually what it consists of...I think I just got lucky...
Finish inside thirty minutes (from the moment the food hits your table) and you win the $60 meal for free, along with a winner's t-shirt. Fail and you get to just sit there and lament your life choices.

Q: Don’t you worry about your health?
A: Not in particular. I’m active. I eat nutrient dense foods five days a week. And, I get quarterly bloods done, amongst other health checks.

Why is no one commenting on the second part of the con: timer stars when they place it on the table. Beard probably could have still finished if they didn't count the initial six minutes against him when he was arguing with them. That pissed me off more than the fries did.

My husband did a wing challenge, when he went ( diff restaurant) they told him he had to finish the sauce, they made it so hot it was hard for him to put his hands or hold the wings, he almost finished by three wings. 🤦

Not only did they give you almost twice as many fries and a half frozen cake, but on none of the other challenges that I watched, did they start the timer as soon as the food hit the table. You handled that deception very well! Much better than most people would have.

After watching this I now know I will never step foot in or eat at a Hard Rock Cafe again in my life. I used to eat there every time I would go to the casino, but after this I nor any family will ever support them again. I stand with Beard.
We all need to go to the Hard Rock Hotel and order a "portion" of fries, then raise holy hell when it isn't the same size as they gave you. You were a classy champ, as always Beard!

Can’t believe they stitched you up like that. Starting the timer the second the food is on the table, the massive portion of fries, the fact the server tried to justify it at the end. Just shows how humble a man you are beard I would have lost it. Safe to say this will have put a lot of people off going there. We’re going on holiday to Florida next year and was planning on going here for a meal. Not anymore. That was outrageous

Other than the fact that Beard was treated poorly, why would you plan to go to Florida to eat at a chain restaurant that already exists in the UK? Edited to add: I don't know if you're from the UK - I'm just guessing it based on the punctuation and use of the word "holiday." In any case, Wikipedia says that there are 185 Hard Rock Cafés in 74 countries. No matter where you're from, I'm still not sure why you'd plan to eat at a chain restaurant that exists all over the world while you're in Florida.
@@yomintyfresh you are correct I am from the uk. It’s kind of a tradition for us any time we go to a destination that has a Hard Rock Cafe we go there for a meal and buy a T-shirt. Hopefully that is ok for you
@@zips112 Obviously, anyone can go do what they want to do on vacation and buy what they want to buy. I lived in Florida for years and have lived in other tourist destinations since then. There are lots of great local restaurants and local chains to check out. Even before seeing how poorly Beard appeared to have been treated, Hard Rock Cafés and similar restaurants targeted at tourists never seemed to have a reputation for having great food or wonderful staff - the staff knows that most visitors will never come back a second time. I think the Hard Rock Café souvenir t-shirts are a great way for the business to make money, but in general, I'm not into paying $30 or so for a t-shirt so I can serve as a walking advertisement for someone else's business. You're welcome to spend your hard-earned money however you want, though. Have a great trip! (PS - I'm not up on the best local burgers in Orlando since things have changed a lot, but whenever I'm in Florida, I always have to get a chicken tender sub from a Publix supermarket - headquarters in Lakeland - and eat it at the beach. I also like to try to make it to Tijuana Flats, which has its headquarters in Maitland. My partner always has to try the newest seasonal beer from Cigar City, which is from Tampa. Korean barbecue has exploded in the US in the past few years, so once you get to the US, I'd ask for recommendations for that, too. There's a ton of cattle in Florida, so the quality of beef is generally pretty good. If we're there in February/ March, we try to make it to Plant City for some strawberries. If you can find a good dive bar, the thing to try is alligator nuggets.)

Beard, you need to try this again, but send in a decoy to order it. Once it arrives at the table, go in and take over.

Checked out Randy, Katina, Raina and Blaine doing this and you've been well had over. They had far fewer fries, soft cake and the timer started when they started eating. This was totally outa order hope other completive eaters boycott this as it leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
They changed it because people were actually completing it, and they likely hated that professional eaters knew about it and came in to profit off of it.

To be honest if it was me, and I was a competitive eater. I would have not only had a word with the staff, paid the meal, and given it to a family sitting there. ( I'm keeping it clean what I really want to say, cause my comment would be taken down) This truly pissed me off. Yep, an utterly ridiculous decision. I've been to that Hard Rock as I've been to Orlando and universal loads of times, and it really was nothing to write home about. We've done all the big restaurants out there and the Hard Rock and Planet Hollywood were the worst, the latter especially. Very mediocre food and expensive too ($170 for 2 adults and 2 kids 15 years ago for nothing special!), plus it took an HOUR to get our starters and it was only half full of people. Then, to cap it all they expect to get a 20% tip at the end! Well I begrudgingly gave 10% because that's the max in the UK, and the waitress should have been grateful to get that!

Restaurant manager: Right guys, we've got a professional eater with millions of subs and hundreds of millions of views visiting to take on our food challenge. Just watched Katina Eats Kilo doing this challenge (Jan 2020). They gave her a small colander of chips, about half the size they gave you. and lot smaller Ice Cream as well. Hard Rock was intimidated by the Beard.

I just watched your video to compare and the colander they gave Beard vs yours is STRAIGHT ROBBERY. That literally has to be at least 10x the amount of fries.. And the fact that they didn't have the weird rule on when the timer starts. But still big props to you for finishing your challenge. I could never imagine getting through even just that stiff cafeteria cake alone.
Just watch another video of this challenge and he got 3 or 4x as much dries and like 4 more scoops of Ice cream.

That was indeed a proper stitch up. You knew before you started that the deck had been stacked against you and that finishing was nigh on impossible, but you still attacked it like the champ you are. This has been a really enjoyable mini series, great work Beard 👍🇬🇧

This is his life of what i understand and I believe he takes it pretty serious with training and shit. Would be the same if a fighter knew all about his next fight but when stepped in the ring he was against a totally different fighter 20 kilo heavier and better. And afterwards he still gets that loss on the paper so I do understand why he's mad and that's not because of 60$

Visited here a few weeks back and my group wanted to eat here. Because of this video I steered up to a business that isn’t complete crap. But I did hear that cook got fired, let’s hope he “doesn’t feel bad”.
I think they cheated him. There is no way he should have been given way more fries that others. Shame on Hard Rock for doing that. He would've otherwise finished. THAT'S JUST WRONG!!!

Watching Katina's attempt, she had a third of your fries, half of your ice cream and was able to mention everything in the challenge while the food was sitting right in front of her before they even started the timer.
The fries were oversized and the cake was three times the usual size and then they throw in six to eight scoops of ice cream!! You were absolutely correct...that was a con job from start to finish and they should be ashamed!!

I dont even understand why they would want to con him. How often do they genuinely have people come in and attempt this and win. How much could they possibly lose from him winning that? If its a case of so many people coming in and actually beating the challenge because they messed up and didn't make it difficult enough, then take it off completely. Don't just screw people over.
@@kortaniijohnson512 when you see a guy come in with a camera specifically for the challenge I get why they increased it. Cos if it beats beard then you’ll have a whole lot more people coming to try and defeat it

I’m no competitive eater, but I had the same thing happen to me. Local restaurant was doing a big promotion for a huge burger challenge. A friend talked me in to trying it after looking at all the pics on their FB page of said challenge. When mine came out it had literally 5x the “sidewinder fries” from all the pics. I was about 10 fries away from finishing despite the cheat. Glad it closed and they lost their investment.

Everyone I've seen do this challenge never had anywhere near this many fries. You got double duped too. Only 3 months ago Joel Hansen and corbucci did the challenge and were not timed from the moment they put the plates down on the table. No one else I've seen was timed that way either. 😭
I think Joel Hansen got screwed over in another challenge as well if im not mistaken. As unfortunate as it is, it does help bring these scummy places to light.

I think they stuck the cake in the freezer too (or pulled it directly out of the freezer), so he couldn’t even cut into it. You don’t serve that to a normal customer.
Next go at it have me order it and then when they deliver you take my seat……but you have to swear that if they bring that basket of fries out you won’t watch me struggle! lol

Randy's challange had a normal amount of fries and a regular slice of cake that wasn't frozen. It looked really yummy when Randy was eating it.
While it is sort of on-brand for the Hard Rock Hotel to have a rock hard cake, it was pretty lame to add that as another roadblock. It's like they forgot that nobody is going to want to even try the challenge if it looks like it's completely impossible.
What a joke! This has angered me, and even my wife way more than it should have!! That was so unfair, and for your last challenge in Florida too!! You probably did triple what the original challenge asked for, well done on staying as calm as you did beard! Look forward to the next one!

I agree...the fix was in. This isn't the only time when a person of any kind of fame attempted a contest, it was made harder. It's happened a couple of times on Man Vs Food.

I think it's a real shame that in the face of defeat, Hard Rock decided that the house always wins by stacking the odds so ridiculously, and obviously, in their favour.
I've not had the opportunity to eat at any Hardrock franchise but I have no intention of taking my business there now!
