Thanks for your sharing, I’ve suffered from ocd for almost 9 years, but I never truly understood the ocd structure. Your video is such a great inspiration!
I am glad it was helpful Cottaje! You're very welcome!
LOVE the emphasis on self responsibility!
Absolutely Rachel!
Thank you so much for the last minutes of the video.I'm 2,5 months in a recovery plan (reading the books, disputing, watching you content, trying to improve my life structure etc.) and the struggle is real lol
I have to work to take the long - term road instead of getting disturbed with every daily setback 🙂
100% Mike! And you're very welcome! Day by day!
I love all your videos I’ve struggled with chronic ocd and anxiety throughout my life I remember as a kid I would have to do stuff to keep my family safe it’s always been in my life I’ve had two bad episodes where it made it debilitating to live
@@katelynnmartinelli5539 we can help!
Glad the videos have been helpful Katelyn!
Thanks for the video. I particularly resonated with what you said about rumination and compulsion. I think looking for compulsions in an effort to get rid of them may have become a compulsion in itself. How is best to deal with this?
Hey Sam! So there were definitely times were I had to take my foot off the gas and just live, not as a long term solution but to give myself some time to chill the fuck out lol. I would think 'okay, I have done a lot recently let's just try and keep habits as good as I can for now and just live for a month or so.'
This was very helpful. I have been following your rational breakdown series but can’t find any after 6 …content. Are the others not numbered or not called irrational beliefs
Thanks Lynn! I always appreciate your support!
Please help me I am aware of my eyes, not just blinking but observing them and noticing them and the redness. Focusing on them worries me and plunges me into a whirlpool of ocd . When I try to accept the situation, thoughts come to me that I will harm myself, possibly by pressing on my eyes and affecting their function, and I fear from blindness. Is this considered as a type of sensorimotor ocd what should I do please help me 😢😢
Did you takes medicine like SSRI or SNRI or any other alternatives
Hey buddy! I personally didn't but it wasn't 100% the best decision because I really experienced a ton of physical symptoms. Medications could of eased that for a while.
How to Change ur beliefs nd how to change perspectives
Im 17 and have chronic ocd and gad, my question is whether the ocd is controlling the gad worries or is it two seperate things?
Hey Will! I personally treat them as one and the same. I strictly look at the beliefs and behaviors behind anything and go from there.
Is it true that through disputing we can reach a level of not caring and not taking seriuosly when people insult us or disrespect us? I feel trapped in the need to show superiority
to show them they are wrong
Hey Gabrielius! We can get to a point of acceptance, not necessarily not caring as that's not really possible but there can be baseline peace.
What is the book you lifted up?
I think it’s “How to Stubbornly Refuse to Make Yourself Miserable about Anything” by Albert Ellis :)
@@melinamorina516 Yep 🙂 Next time I will show it for longer
What if you past the stage of chronic ocd but then comes the fear of fear where you are having a conversation with someone and think what if I see something (scared your going to go crazy) it goes away because you don’t put mind to it but it still lingers. Or if harm ocd still lingers but is not as intense so you are just always scared.
you need to increase the dosage of whatever you are on / talk to doc
@@Hardveur7I don’t take any meds and not planning too
@@iriz09 i think you should man. it helped me. you’re saying you’re always scared and that’s no way to live.
I’m not always scared, you interpreted wrong. I no longer have chronic ocd. I have moments that I sometimes feel scared of like what if I go crazy. I was seeking advice on how to finally overcome that for good. I thankfully live a normal life like I use to. I worked hard on my beliefs etc.
Hey Iriz! This usually means there A) Is slightly more work to do on subtle beliefs B) Could still be some self-reassurance C) Subtle outward compulsions D) Still the belief 'ugh please just go away'
Whta if some of the information in the books goes against my relegious beliefs? Saying that the books are written by an atheist or a non believer of god.
Uh I'm a Christian. Their is no issue in reading secular books or fantasy or anything. If you can gain wisdom from it then do so. If it ends up not being useful dont worry about it
@@mudshrooze true sometimes when you are in an ocd cycle and in the doubt cycle its very hard . I guess
Hey Zou! So I personally don't believe in God but I work with hundreds of people who do and still recover/ are on their way to recovery! I had it the other way as well lol, 'what if I am wrong' etc. etc.
I hope near future doctors find new drugs which completely will cure OCD from root. because Nick doesn't satisfy me 😏
Lol! That would definitely be easier my friend.
@@OCDrecoveryNick But interestingly, the FDA has approved 5 types of antidepressants to treat OCD
