I think when channel chasers came out, a lot of the references flew over my head, mostly due to the fact that I either was just too young to know about them, such as with tom and jerry, the flintstones, or I just didn't watch other channels. I think the only one I really knew about was the rugrats reference, I think.
The only problem I really had with this special was the ending, with Timmy leaving his kids with the Vicky Bot. It falls into that “and then the opposite happens” trap and it isn’t that funny to me. But overall, I really liked this special. I liked older Timmy to be honest (who by the way is voiced by Alec Baldwin), and a lot of the jokes hit for me.
Stephen Brown I think that Older Timmy is somewhat aware about the situation which leads him to believe his kids will be fine since he was with a bad babysitter himself and he ended up turning out fine.
same but since it build off the Pilot and thats exactly when timmy got his fairies and met vicky when he lost their magic all of his memories to that point where wither lost of over written so maybe thats the case of why he left them with a bad baby sitter cause he couldnt rember his own do to the magic thing
Older Timmy smiles at the picture of his goldfish, implying he knows something was special about them. And for Cosmo and Wanda to be there at the end, that likely means Timmy's kids inherited them. And as established, without an evil babysitter or someone to make your life miserable, you have no need for faries.
I always hated the ending. It's sad that Timmy ends up no better than his parents and that he can never remember Cosmo and Wanda, his best friends who helped him through his misery...
Stephen Brown If they somehow fixed in a lawyer friendly equivalent of Ben 10 into the special, maybe because it was just starting to get popular at the time (or not), that would be pretty funny in terms of meta humor.

For the Christmas one I was debating whether it was a reference to the Rudolph one like Panthersclaw said or if it was the Nickmas special from 2002, they look equally as bad and the robots are more so Gundam then Voltron or Power Rangers
You know, I really don't blame Vicky so much for making Timmy miserable enough to have Fairy Godparents, I blame his parents. They are the ones who leave him with Vicky all the time, they are the ones too stupid and feckless to notice she's obviously evil, and they never take Timmy's word for anything. I even dislike how Wanda is so defensive about Timmy's parents and their problems.

I can tell kinda but it does lean a lot more towards their mother being Tootie because Tammy has glasses and wears a skirt and also wears white and black in her design and as for Tommy having all of Timmy's exact looks except has Tootie black hair as for Trixie the hair color is also black and that Tammy is wearing that pinkish thing in her hair same as with Trixie also Tammy's hair reminds me a lot of how Trixie has it although it bugs me that it was left a bit ambiguous instead of just outright confirming it like serious i doubt Trixie would ever truly date him unless the show gave us reasons why the pairing could be possible as with Tootie i can see its a lot of the opposite with Timmy and Trixie except its more possible that he changes his mind rather than Trixie changing her mind it also doesnt help or maybe it does that with that one fairly odd parent special using actual real people but older that Tootie became hot and Timmy got with her all while still keeping his fairies
I have one issue that I think makes the whole fairly oddparents hard to end.. There's really no way Timmy could say goodbye forever to Cosmo and Wanda without it being really REALLY REEEEALLY depressing. even at the end of Channel Chasers where it shows Timmy as an adult, it still brought a tear to my eye. I did like Butch Hartman's one take on an older Timmy where he's now a successful stockholder guy, cause it sort of fits Timmy's general personality- that he's actually pretty smart, it just falls under creativity, rather then real knowledge, and he has an issue with shortsightedness- which in the world of stocks could actually be a good OR bad thing. Actually, Timmy not knowing his children are being bullied by the robot Vicky like he was amounts to his same shortsightedness.
You know I feel like they should have done a Bait and switch, build up to Timmy's kids and have their lives actually be okay and not needing fairies. while cosmo and wanda watch in the next yard over or something and maybe they cry just a little with their current godkid calling them back as the camera rises to meet the setting sun.
You made me realize that watching the fairly odd parents is the sole reason why I ALWAYS expect the opposite to happen literally any time a character says something confidently
I always assumed the reason Vicky believed she could take over the world was because she entered a non-fiction show. After all, they used the same argument when Tom Sawyer entered a physics book in Shelf Life. Whether or not that would actually work; I have no clue. The show never really established if reality is dependent on media or not.

How many shows did I knew in this special when I was little? *Zero!!!* I was too young to recognize what shows were on this special. Today, I know all of these shows right off the bat.
I'm feeling a bit sad. Lol. I was in elementary when I first saw this and I was able to name all except for the Christmas thing, Fat Albert and the shows Mahoo Mushi parodied. To be fair though, I didn't really get to go out until I was 14
- Jetsons - Rugrats - Fat Albert - Maybe, Johnny Quest - I had no idea. - Peanuts, duh. - I dunno but it remind me of space ghost - WWE esque game show - Flintstones - No clue - Scooby Doo - Batman or Teen Titans - Blues Clues - Tom and Jerry - Bugs Bunny - Every Holiday Special ( I'm not kidding) - Simpsons - Muppets/ Sesame Street - TMNT - Power Rangers and Dragon Ball came to mind. I only got five when I first saw this, I was pretty sheltered... Edit( I forgot the dash for Jetsons )
Filling in the gaps - YES, that is Johnny Quest. The first blank is Strawberry Shortcake. Space Ghost is correct. The second blank is a reference to Speed Racer. Batman is the correct option. This is moreso a reference to Rankin-Bass, with the most resemblance to Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Sesame Street is the correct option. Gundam and Yu-Gi-Oh also come to mind at the end.
I wished this was the finale to the show instead of that last season it has so many references to tv shows that I was saying "I understood that reference" also I saw over 30 references
I don’t know why I’m having trouble following what you’re saying. This isn’t meant to be a hate comment, there are just a few points in this video where your commentary is a little hard to follow
The last channel looks like a blend of anime tropes with really heavy inspiration from Dragon Ball Z based on their clothing. Although, I’m more curious about what possible Gundam anime the writers were referring to, because I know that it’s not Voltron or Evangelion and those two are the only Gundam anime I know of that were old enough to influence this OddParents special. Also, lightsabers.
It was probably referencing Gundam? And since when is Eva or Voltron a Gundam anime? Or are you confusing the term Mecha anime with Gundam which is a specific franchise?
It’s not just revenge, but his ultimate revenge. Timmy takes the one thing Vicky desires most of all (world domination), and crushes it right in front of her. He’s essentially telling her, “This is my ultimate victory. You’ve made my life a living hell, you’ve tortured me, you’ve abused me, you’ve made me miserable, and you’ve always gotten away with it. And now, after everything you have done to me, I finally get my revenge. I take what you desire most of all, and destroy it. You may torment me over and over again, but you will never take over the world. Every time you have world domination in your hands, I will come in and destroy it, right in front of your very eyes. Every. Single. Time.” Or maybe I’m just over-analyzing a cartoon because I have nothing better to do in life. But I like the first one so I’ll go with that.
I don't think I've watched this special yet, but when I saw the 'villain' I just thought- "It's gonna be Timmy. The twist is that it's gonna be Timmy, isn't it."
Man, this has to be one of my favorite TV movies, with creativity outside of the wish. I always hated how Chester & AJ were left out of the ending, but now that obviously makes sense as it’s a good future. It also throws a curve ball with Timmy’ perspective & their parents, and the story of how Vicky Also worth noting as a kid I only watched Cartoon Network & Nickelodeon, so most references flew over my head but I was still entertained. As for the ending, I always liked it. Not spoiling it. Edit: Got around 7 I remembered as a kid, and nearly all of the references now. Only one I didn’t get was political correctness, or that wrestling one.
Most of the cartoon parodies were from classic cartoon shows. Off the top of my head, they spoofed Space Ghost, Fat Albert, The Jetsons, The Flintstones, Scooby Doo, Speed Racer, and Jonny Quest. The political correctness show was a spoof of Bill Maher's "Politically Incorrect" show. It was a round table discussion featuring political pundits discussing issues with celebrities. The wrestling was just your average WWE stuff - although I loved seeing them fight!
Yes. Kids who have fairies are hiding their secrets, and kids who don't have fairies are either too old for them or they revealed their secret. I had fairies as a child. The only reason I remember them is....... COSMO AND WANDA WERE MY FAIRY GODPARENTS!!!!
It's been a year since the end... Can we just pretend Chloe ended moving out and channel changers being at the end of the time line before the live action movies? (they weren't any better but it was a nice closure)
My thoughts on the movie: It was praiseworthy to say the least. Timmy Turner is one of many characters who not only is one of my favorites, but he also has my sympathy. As for the 10th Season, instead of Chloe being there, I think Chester or Tootie should share fairies with Timmy. Chester's Reasons: Lives in a trailer with his father (no offense), used and abused by Norm so that the genie would escape from the lamp, bad baseball player just like his father, almost permanent braces, etc. Tootie: Abused by her sister (Vicky), no one shows up for her birthday (unless if there is magic), twice as miserable as Timmy, etc. Lastly, I do not think the word "quit" is a bad word.
The last time Tootie had fairies, she tried to reveal them to the whole world. Even when she was told not to, she believed it would be rude not to and still tried to. However, Chester is a better godkid than her though.
Maybe, but Tootie does gain some sympathy, given her reasons she should have a chance to share fairies. Whenever Timmy isn't around, she has to deal with her sister, and her parents are even afraid to step in and stop Vicky's torment. In my opinion, she should have called the police on her sister for abuse. In fact, if any of the children harmed by Vicky were calling the police on her, then not only would the parents be charged with child neglect and endangerment, but the children that she babysat would be placed into foster care or similar, far away from the parents and Vicky. Legally speaking, what Vicky does to the children is child abuse. Not to mention that we do not see Francis the bully anymore, maybe because of the "moral guardians" wanting bullies out of the cartoons when in reality, they could have some character development that can change their behavior to be more nicer to the main characters like Timmy Turner. But like I said, both Chester and Tootie are potential candidates.
mahomushi is primarily a tribute to goku vs picoolo from the end of dragon ball right before dragon ball z you can tell because Timmy is dressed as goku and Vicky is dressed as picoolo and their fighting in a square tournament arena with the same stands and buildings with some other stuff mixed in to represent other battle anime
+Alpha Jay Show I remember it frustrated me back then that I couldn't figure out what the heck that was. XD Also, great video! And Jay, how many of them did you know when you first saw it as a kid?
As amazing as this was, am I only person that hates how shallow of a character Vicky is? She's evil, ok, what else? Uh, ummm, not much else. I kinda wish they explored her a bit more. Idk, shes a good cartoon villain, but eh, lost potential I guess.
Yeah, I think she works great in this movie? But in the show in general, I think she should have been explored. There are no episodes, except the one where she and timmy get stuck in the snow, where she naturally has any humanity, or at least that explores it. Idk, major character, no character depth, kinda lame.
Only in hindsight do I realize how many great cartoon movies I had in my childhood. I was always excited whenever a FOP, DAnny Phantom, PPG, etc movie or special was on TV. Today's kids are deprived of quality television...
I love the ending of Channel Chasers because it essentially leaves Timmy's children having the best influence he had growing up, even he doesn't realize it. It also seemed like a cliff hanger for a series in the future (but because the more recent episodes ruined everything I'm glad they didn't.)
"Ignore the shaving cut in the five-o-clock shadow. I'm a kid! Just like you!" Was anybody else bothered by this line as a kid? I think it's funny now, but it really bothered me as a kid. Maybe because it shattered the illusion that Steve was a kid...

*Zero!!!* I was too young to recognize what shows were on this special.
Today, I know all of these shows right off the bat.
Same. But I was able to recognize a couple like Rugratz and Charlie Brown at the time.
I'm feeling a bit sad. Lol. I was in elementary when I first saw this and I was able to name all except for the Christmas thing, Fat Albert and the shows Mahoo Mushi parodied.
To be fair though, I didn't really get to go out until I was 14
"how about to take your *wah wah* looking self to the optician and get your eyes checked"
Kills me everytime.
- Jetsons
- Rugrats
- Fat Albert
- Maybe, Johnny Quest
- I had no idea.
- Peanuts, duh.
- I dunno but it remind me of space ghost
- WWE esque game show
- Flintstones
- No clue
- Scooby Doo
- Batman or Teen Titans
- Blues Clues
- Tom and Jerry
- Bugs Bunny
- Every Holiday Special ( I'm not kidding)
- Simpsons
- Muppets/ Sesame Street
- TMNT
- Power Rangers and Dragon Ball came to mind.
Too young to know Strawberry Shortcake and Speed Racer?
Also you missed out on happy days when Cosmo pretended to be Timmy
Leo Aguilar thanks, I couldn't recognize it
The Gaming God The flinstones parody sure was grand
I wished this was the finale to the show instead of that last season it has so many references to tv shows that I was saying "I understood that reference" also I saw over 30 references
William Clarke I only got half as much as you
William Clarke i think abra catastrophe is the ending to the show in my opinion
It has a more finale ending like feeling
Yeah, this one has to continue yet Hartman's more well, it certainly had a few more seasons in it, show Danny Phantom gets the can.
The Blue's Clues parody was the best one...
cLint’S hiNtS
ITS A -CLUE- HINT, -A BLUE CLUE- *'A CLINT HINT HAHAHAHAHAHAH*
Fun fact: tooties codename Deep Toot is actually a reference to the main informant in the watergate scandal, Deep Throat
My favorite quote is "he loves us more then he hates her"
Random trivia I noticed: When future Timmy gets fired and disappears, the name they are standing on is Butch Hartman xD
+Sleepy0173 Lol good catch.
YOU SAY THAT AND I NOTICE IT SO MANY TIMES
I don’t know why I’m having trouble following what you’re saying. This isn’t meant to be a hate comment, there are just a few points in this video where your commentary is a little hard to follow
That's fair dude.
"how many references did you get the first time?"
all of them... get shrekt!
Ok what time in the video was the tella tubbie reference???
lion melon i'm talking about first time watching the episode... also, i don't think he mentioned teletubbies in the video...
I too also got all of them.
Same
me too
Politicly Inaccurate and wrestling were both live, and somehow Million Dollar Spin was too.
Timmy gets a freer future.
I think maybe it was a Mazinger Z reference
I vaguely remember this episode and loving it.
+Nope Nopington Thank you for commenting.
YES! Hello, childhood! My dad is gonna love this, thank you so much!
"He gets.. he gets...." Hey dude cmon, he gets revenge on Vicky. And stops her plan for.. whatever the writers intended her plan to be.
+Vollin Dornus "whatever the writers intended her plan to be"
It’s not just revenge, but his ultimate revenge. Every. Single. Time.”
Or maybe I’m just over-analyzing a cartoon because I have nothing better to do in life. But I like the first one so I’ll go with that.
*Timmy gets in trouble because- Timmy.*
I don't think I've watched this special yet, but when I saw the 'villain' I just thought-
"It's gonna be Timmy. The twist is that it's gonna be Timmy, isn't it."
I was actually rewatching channel chasers around the time you posted this lol
Adult Vicky is pretty thicc if I do say so
Also, did you really have to blow up the cab driver?
He's like Clyde webb
as jorgen might say, "I LIKE to blow up the driver!"
The reference in the mushi one is dragon ball, you can tell simply by the outfits
I like how Cosmo shooting the two energy blasts was a straight reference to Majin Vegeta at the World Martial Arts Tournament
Did you just misgender Philip the nickel?
Lol
Lmao
This is the true ending to Fairly Odd Parents: No Poof, No Sparky and no Chloe!
+crcoghill I can agree with that.
imo poof wasnt that bad,if we didnt have poof,we wouldn't have foop!
Poof is'nt a bad character. It could be better if the two characters have only one appearance in one episode.
Hey, Poof was a great character. Things started going south after Sparky was added and Chloe was the feather that killed the show's back.
YES!!
Man, this has to be one of my favorite TV movies, with creativity outside of the wish.
I always hated how Chester & AJ were left out of the ending, but now that obviously makes sense as it’s a good future.
It also throws a curve ball with Timmy’ perspective & their parents, and the story of how Vicky
Also worth noting as a kid I only watched Cartoon Network & Nickelodeon, so most references flew over my head but I was still entertained.
Future Chester Might've Made A Impact If He Had Memorable Quotes And Fights
as a kid i recognized all of the channel references as a grew up on CN and not so much with Nick or Disney
I’m surprised you never mentioned how Older Timmy is voiced by Alec Baldwin 😂
What if we all had fairies as kids but we don't remember them because we either grew up or revealed our secrets?
+BeanBag343 That would be insane. And all of the kids of today are hiding their secret?
Yes. Kids who have fairies are hiding their secrets, and kids who don't have fairies are either too old for them or they revealed their secret. I had fairies as a child. The only reason I remember them is.......
COSMO AND WANDA WERE MY FAIRY GODPARENTS!!!!
this is a lot darker than i remembered
+TheRichmaster I agree.
@@TheAlphaJayShow but it's good darkness
I went to the Butch Hartman school of "And Then The Opposite Happens" so I know what's gonna happen.
*_AND THE THE OPPOSITE OF THE OPPOSITE HAPPENS_*
+Starstruck Rainbow Gamer LOL
Well, you may get the point for his Oaxis part.
I could feel the Arthur fist when Timmy's parents wouldn't believe him
It's been a year since the end...
Can we just pretend Chloe ended moving out and channel changers being at the end of the time line before the live action movies? (they weren't any better but it was a nice closure)
Take a shot every time the most over used joke of “and if you’ve been to the butch Hartman school ..” let me know how wasted you are .
I took a shot of Budweiser Light. I died.
G9 as ndj hb Dr 6 th bc xxx
+Gerald Singer Great input. I appreciate the longer comment. I agree with both characters you presented as potential god-kids.
At Least Chester Does Not Give Away Spoilers
Tootie could become a main character in Season 10 and Vicky would still be pretty much none existent. The writing was just so bad 😂
mahomushi is primarily a tribute to goku vs picoolo from the end of dragon ball right before dragon ball z you can tell because Timmy is dressed as goku and Vicky is dressed as picoolo and their fighting in a square tournament arena with the same stands and buildings with some other stuff mixed in to represent other battle anime
If Goku Fought Vicky It'd Be Dope
Cosmo pulled a majin vegeta
Channel Chasers was my absolute favorite episode as a kid... I used to drop everything to watch it whenever it came on.
"you could probably use a few more hours in school"
..Because school teaches hand gestures, totally.
''Teacher , what does pointing mean''
''Really?''
Haven't watched the video yet, but
DEEPTOOT
Deep Toot= Tootie Obviously
Solid Snake: "The informant from the Watergate scandal?"
I JUST REALIZED IN MAHO MUSHI, VICKY IS DRESSED UP LIKE PICCOLO JR
19:05 "You can't be me, I'm not supposed to get older" potential inspiration for why timmy's secret wish was for everyone to stop aging?
"Which you deliberately used to disobey us and then you busted up the house and wrote that lie on the wall !" 11:49
Dinkelberg Rulez !
As a kid, I got all of the references except the Fat Albert parody. ^^
+JoyStar Nice!
+Alpha Jay Show I remember it frustrated me back then that I couldn't figure out what the heck that was. XD Also, great video! And Jay, how many of them did you know when you first saw it as a kid?
+JoyStar Probably about 8. I didn't watch that many older stuff that they parody, like speed racer. Lol
@Ethan Kellerman I think that was either space ghost or some other Hanna-Barbera cartoon
"I'm not supposed to get old!"
Perfect set up for the forbidden wish.
Ok
As amazing as this was, am I only person that hates how shallow of a character Vicky is? She's evil, ok, what else? Uh, ummm, not much else. I kinda wish they explored her a bit more. Idk, shes a good cartoon villain, but eh, lost potential I guess.
+deathdealer312 That's pretty fair. What I think happened is this is the one day she goes too far.
Yeah, I think she works great in this movie? But in the show in general, I think she should have been explored. There are no episodes, except the one where she and timmy get stuck in the snow, where she naturally has any humanity, or at least that explores it. Idk, major character, no character depth, kinda lame.
10:38
Vickeys ear isnt against the speaker. Its inbetween the keypad and speaker
*THIS IS BEYOND SCIENCE*
Nobody:
Alpha Jay Show: But if you went to the Butch Hartman School of But-Then-The-Opposite-Happens
Only in hindsight do I realize how many great cartoon movies I had in my childhood. I was always excited whenever a FOP, DAnny Phantom, PPG, etc movie or special was on TV. Today's kids are deprived of quality television...
+Sophie Filo I wish there were more TV movies nowadays.
Channel chasers is the best fairly oddparents movie
I love the ending of Channel Chasers because it essentially leaves Timmy's children having the best influence he had growing up, even he doesn't realize it. It also seemed like a cliff hanger for a series in the future (but because the more recent episodes ruined everything I'm glad they didn't.)
"When I get back from the ammo store"
Me: wait why do you need ammo?
For the fucking bazooka.
I thought he said emu store
14:02 Isn't that just like....the normal Peanuts dance? From literally every time anyone ever dances in Peanuts?
Channel Chasers should have been the series finale.
“This is the sincerest form of flattery”
I never noticed that before lol. What an awesome nod to an great show
"Ignore the shaving cut in the five-o-clock shadow. I'm a kid! Just like you!"
Was anybody else bothered by this line as a kid? I think it's funny now, but it really bothered me as a kid.
Maybe because it shattered the illusion that Steve was a kid...
50% good review
Other 50% WoW vIcKy ThIcC
Kid meh : What a wonder episode!
Adult me : *Older Vicky and maid wand is thiccccccc*
"You're not me! I'm not supposed to get older!"
Was that a hint at Timmy's secret wish?
Timmy's plan was to stay on the TV forever so he wouldn't lose his fairies
@@donnish7472 true, plus I like this better than Secret Wish regardless of anyone's opinion.
Jay, you did it again, I count 22 references that were in plain sight, and can you do a review on Catscratch.
Steeling Ship Thursday leave it in his request video
Frisk, I did already
Was that a Snoop Dogg Reference at around 17:56 with shizzle manizzle :D
I legit remember making fun of that doofus for trying to run up that brick wall with my bestfriends as a kid. Man, that brought be back.
*What A Real Person Would Do*
*Vicky takes a picture of Timmy in his underwear*
Timmy: *Pulls out phone* Hello, 911, a 16 year old girl just took a picture of me, a 10 year old kid in my underwear
*Pounding On Door* FBI OPEN UP!
Actually now that I think of it, Vicky is illegal aswell until she uses the remote to become older. Then shes legal thicc :D
23:40 I never noticed that subtle jab at old tv cartoon credits squishing a still image to one side.
That's really a great use of animation.
Ok
