There are 190 kinds of regular indian spices , among which only 5 create spicy taste. I don't know why people got scared when they heard indian spices
Trust me each spices has completely different taste and it makes great combinations and each one has health benifit.
I use around 40 kind of spices in day to day cocking

Also 3 months in total summer and winter vacations.

The late chief minister of Tamil Nadu Kama- raj introduced the Midday Meals Scheme for school-children throughout the state in 1956 for the first time in india.
Being a north indian girl, I love dosa since my childhood ,, my mother always had made it at home on my birthday.
That place where he had the dosa is Davengere. And the dosa is called Benne Dosa(Butter Dosa). Thats the place where i did my MBBS(medical school). The place where you get this was literally next to my apartment. It is very heavy and the perfect recipe for a holiday snack and snooze.
The "pancake" - made from rice and lentil flour , so doesn't really taste like a regular pancake.
School schedules in India - depends on the school system at each school ( three broad systems : central/federal government stipulated syllabus and exams, state government syllabus and exams, private and international baccalaureate syllabus and exams ). I went to school 6 days a week, on an average 5 hrs per day. Some schools have longer hours and less days/week.
Trivia - Until about a decade ago there were no food programmes like this one, students mostly brought a little snack to have before lunchtime or went hungry if they coildn't afford to.. The government mandated the food programme to ensure that poor students had food to eat, this brought up enrollment since kids who worked to feed themselves instead of going to school could now actually go to school and not stay hungry..

The Akshaya Patra team and the donors need a big salute from everyone. They have been doing this non-stop since they started, Monday to Saturday. They start the delivery by 6-7 AM. I would to love eat someday, because I heard the good is very tasty 😊. It's the dedication and hard work, it reflects in the food itself I guess. And this is in Bengaluru, my city 😍.

Dosa is not pan cakes. Dosa is a savory. Usually consumed for breakfast , originally from south india. Kichdi is rice poridge. The sweet stuff he ate first was jaggery cooked with rice and prepared like a porridge.
The schedule is different in every school it depends, some are Mon to sat and some are Mon to Fri.
state school in karnataka is mon to sat 10am-4pm

School Schedule in India: Most schools (about 70%) Monday to Friday - full day (6 hours of school). Saturday - half day (3 hours of school). Some schools have 5 day a week schedules (6-7 hours a day).

Saturday’s are half days in schools here and more fun and easy subjects r taught that day Mostly Saturday’s r now holidays but many cities stillfollow old schedule and they have 2nd and 4th Saturday holiday there specially in towns and small cities

Smaller town/state run schools might have it Mon-Sat school days.. but the school I went to in Mumbai was just Mon-Fri like you guys.
There is a reason why we use our hands in India. You can test the temperature of the food and not put hot food in your mouth. Since a lot of it includes curry and everything is eaten mostly hot.

the golden temple in Punjab feeds 100,000 people daily for free you can come over and over again ask for as much food you want and food means proper food 2-4 types of food in a single plate for free.
Almost all gurudware holy place of the men with turban offers free food.
I have enjoyed it several time. at gurudware Bangla sahib in New Delhi I loved it.
Great, I've experienced food at Gurudwaras as well. Though this is one step further taking the food to the kids so that they don't have to leave school to come to the centralised kitchen to eat.

The one like pan cake is called dosa
It's basically fermented rice paste spread n cooked on a pan it's combined with Indian version of smash patato and coconut chutni
U can make it thin for a crispy texture or thick for a nan like texture
..
In the school it was first dish was a kind of rice kheer ... Similar to what Rachel made with carrot pudding but carrot is replaced by cooked rice ( I use the left over rice ) and it is more liquid hence no need to keep it on hot plate for an hour (just a boil to the milk after adding rice is enough)
Second dish was dal-khichdi very easy to make rice recipe you can chk on UA-cam

The Mid Day Meal School program in India, is a Government run program that has been going on for atleast the least 40-50 years. AP is one of those allowed by the government to help. But they refuse to include Superfoods like Eggs etc.
That school meal is KHEER. Condenced milk with rice. But we indian cooked it with cow or buffalo milk with rice sugar cardamom safroon n reduce it with the consistency of curd
They server 2 different type of meal... First was sweet rice and later they server punjabi khichdi which is easy and health food

You could compare the first rice thing to a rice pudding mixed with eggnog spices? It’s hard to explain. But it has cardomom he mentioned.
And the second rice dish called kichdi is made of lentils and rice. So you could compare it to lentil soup with rice. Maybe if you ever had Dahl it’s like that. But again it’s hard to compare it as it has its unique flavour.
