The first thing I thought was: Princess Mononoke. That's one fabulous looking model 👌👏👏👏

    Superb!👍
I used a silikon plate and made little dots of uv resin and then pull the splashes out with a needle or toothpick. Very thin.
Then you have several thin 2d parts you can bend and put together 3d.
But with cotton its great too and got a bit more white effect - nice!

First of all, what a beautiful piece this has become!!!
Second, even though I am not close to your level I thought of two things that you might consider for next time you do a similar project. 1. presumably the previous step the elf took was also in the water (with big steps maybe outside of this diorama), if so ripples of that impact should be further along and entering the edge of the diorama behind here. 2. The splash has some green in it (I don't remember you talking about it in this vid, but I don't think it is just a reflection either). Considering how thin the water of the splash is, I don't think you would see color and if you would, than it would be much more faint.

Excellent how to video sir. May I request that maybe you can do a video on how to make waves where you would place on the front of a ship where it would split the waves in two ? Best Regards.

Would this work any better with UV resin I feel like you could use this technique and literally craft the exact splash you wanted ? And it would be faster

13:45 no need to throw it away after dipping it into resin; IPA will clean that right off. I mean IPA is not great for brushes, but at least you can use it multiple times for tasks like these.

10:05 What if you dip these into Future / Pledge and let them sit hanging upside down? I think there might be round blobs at the tips, covering these cotton barbs

Thanks for this cool tutorial! I need to do big blood splatters for a charriot rolling througha huge puddle of blood!
So I'll need to prime them and paint them!
Do you think it would it work with resin for 3d printing?

15:48 Liquitex Gloss Gel is also great for making ripples. Just make sure you don't layer it on too thick, because it will have a hard time curing.
EDIT: Later you use Vallejo Water Texture which is basically the same product as the Liquitex Gloss Gel.

Would baby wipes be decent alternative for the cotton wool? If you spread those out, you get a similar mesh pattern. Baby wipes are also used for airbrushing marble effects.

Long time from the future, but I just tried this with cotton wool and baby wipes. Baby wipes are easier to control, but you need to spread them apart a lot more than you think.

Fun masking tip - use Saran Wrap to cover the major area then seal with masking tape - let’s you get around odd shapes of models posed on a base

The reason why you shouldn't do that is because it tears and can pull paint off due to the static. It's much better doing it the way Andy did it here.

Do you ever just use uv resin so you know instantly if you got any good ones?

The cotton wool pulling was genuinely painful to watch 😬😬😂😂

  • @Wijkert
    @Wijkert 2 роки тому

Wandering if UV resin would make more sense, because of the instant curing time. Not watched the whole vid yet, so maybe you go into it later.

Cotton wool? No such thing. It's just cotton lol. No wool in it. Or are you saying wall? Can't tell.

Watching you use such an expensive brush for resin is painful
