    It's amazing how good the internals of the engine looked considering the kms. It just shows the importance of regular oil changes.

    I found your channel yesterday night and started watching, subscribed also; wow! So many miles on original rod bearings. If oil changes would have been neglected this S65 would have blown a long time ago. I own a couple of great examples of the E60 M5s which I maintain diligently. The S85 is the S65 daddy! I daily drive one and the second is for road trips! oh my, smile after smile. This is great evidence that if oil changes are done regularly, these high revving master pieces will keep going and going.

      Hvala Mile! Yes I watched that video, I don't plan to aggressively track this car and if I do I will find a way to change the main bearings in my tiny garage somehow (with engine in car is possible from what I read). I also plan on using Liquimolly Ceratec as mental 'placebo' and hopefully that prolongs the engine life. Hvala za komentar!

    Really enjoy your excellent channel. Thank you for all of your help and information. I had a question, you don’t have to use PLASTIGAUGE to install bearings? That was amazing! I have never seen bearings installed without being measured. Please explain

    • @DeadEndRestorations
      @DeadEndRestorations  8 місяців тому

      Thank you! BE bearings are hand measured and guaranteed to be exactly the same fitment for each bearing, and given there's no wear on the crankshaft its usually safe to install them without measuring. Plastigauge is an extra layer of piece of mind, but with these types of bearings its not really 100% necessary. Cheers and glad you enjoyed it!!

  • @daviddorado5632

    Nice work. But what about the bearings that hold the crank to the block??

    • @DeadEndRestorations
      @DeadEndRestorations  8 місяців тому

      aka the main bearings? That will be for a future engine rebuild, its a much more complicated job and involves removing the transmission and a whole lot more from the engine

    • @daviddorado5632
      @daviddorado5632 8 місяців тому

      @@DeadEndRestorations yeah youre right. But the condition of those may be just as worn

    • @DeadEndRestorations
      @DeadEndRestorations  8 місяців тому +1

      Could be, at this point I'm willing to gamble them and time/money permitting if I keep the car I'll likely do an engine rebuild and change them at that point. I put in the Ceratec additive hoping it increases anti-wear lubrication in those bearings and keeps the engine alive for a couple more years
