- The String of Hearts plant can start dying due to not getting enough top lighting. It’s very common for plant keepers to keep the plan too high in the window and the plant doesn’t receive enough light from the top. It’s very important that the plant receives sunlight facing from above. it’s a misunderstanding that trailing succulents like this don’t need lighting from above because the plant is hanging down.
The most common reason the String of Hearts plant starts dying is due to inadequate lighting. And you need to make sure that the Plante is getting light from the top down. This is one of the main problems when keeping trailing succulents.
Didn't really learn anything new but, appreciate the information and your style. mine is having the same issue. I have it under my grow light with all other plants that are doing great & have been watering almost once a week because they were propagated and used to being moist. The leave are dying off in various places on the vine but yet ones on the same vine are fine.
I did NOT know you do houseplants too!!😊
Illinoisan here! My SOH has mealybugs 😢 so im binging videos about soh
Beautiful plant room! Are those grow lights decently priced? Theyre nice and compact ❤
Hi! Im struggling with my string of hearts! I live in Scotland so sunlight is an issue at times 😂😂 what you said about getting sunlight from above was interesting, i never thoight of that. My string of hearts looks almost dead from the top to about a third of the way down but the rest looks really healthy 🙈 wpuld i be better to cut fromthe top of the green stem and try and propagate? Im a total novice but i want to learn! Also would you have any advice on boston ferns? Mines is brown and green, it lives in the bathroom as i thought that would be best for humidity but it doesnt seem to be thriving at all
It's very expensive and it's dying, bought it before one week only 😢😢
Subscribing! midwestern here too. Minnesotan! My plants are struggling to the max lol. Minnesota weather sucks for houseplants! Grow lights are my bestie. My string of hearts vines had dried out.. :(
Amen! So you know the struggle!
I live in Manhattan in apartment that gets a fair amount of south/southwest sunlight. For some reason, my variegated string of hearts always die back, especially towards the end of the winter/beginning of spring. I just repotted mine (did a loose mixture of regular houseplant soil and orchid mix.) I put dry sphagnum moss on top of the soil with the cuttings. I'm planning on watering it from the bottom up (i.e. placing it in a bowl with water). Watering top down seemed to really mess with this little dude. Hopefully he makes it!!
Hello fellow Minnesotan. My string of hearts is doing “ok”, but my Turtles are another story. All the new turtles are coming out dark green, but super tiny. I feel like I’ve tried several things. Any thoughts on the problem?
I’m betting it wants more light. It’s a battle getting these plants enough light in Minnesota!
5:49 yes mine is starting to die hope I can save it
Ever since I brought my sheffalara in its dropping leaves and clusters. Help
I have two string of hearts in a room that has skylights (I am in PNW), one is in a windowsill and one is hanging. They were both doing well then started to die, seemingly from the roots/pot outward. I haven’t watered them in ages and the soil is still damp. Is there anyway to save them?
Yes i killed 8 plants still im trying over this one Plant
String of hearts don't like direct sunlight
