I remember towards their end Machinima had over 17 Million subscribers, yet they were lucky to get 200 views a video sometimes.
Mainlly as they just bombarded people with new videos each day and no one could ever keep up.
That's probably the worst views/subs I've ever seen with a channel, it wasn't even 0.1% of their audience watching.

As many times as other channels have mentioned your channel, I'm still surprised that you don't have more than 14k subs. The way you research and break down specific topics is unlike almost anyone else making retro gaming videos, and your topics are so unique and specific that no one else is covering them. Even if you cover something that another channel has done, I'm going to watch it anyway just to hear your take on it. Your videos are always insightful and a joy to watch.
I think it's just a matter of time. For whatever reason the algorithm doesn't seem to have picked you up yet but I'm sure there will be a video in your future that will really break through.

Thank you very much for this video!! I have been following A LOT of people who talk about UA-cam growth, but this is the first time that someone has been blunt and really explained the TRUE views to Subscribers count. I run a Martial Arts Tutorials channel and for the past year I have been feeling down because for what I suposedly knew, my numbers were crap but in reality they have been grown little by little, not at the rate I want to but it has grown.
In my case I made a mistake at the beginning, I got into a Comment for Comment group, in which we had to Subscribe, Watch and Comment others videos...the numbers at the beginning were something I did not expect, but I felt that in a way I was screwing what I have been doing before by doing that and lo and behold, it took me at least six months to partially repair that damage.
Anyways, love this video and THANK YOU for sharing this with us!!
Ps. I know of two channels on my niche that have purchased AN INCREDIBLE number of Subscriptions. One has 1mil Subs and other 100k and both of them when they upload a video have less than 5% of those numbers in views.

    • @Jenovi
      @Jenovi  2 роки тому

Hey Nicolás, many thank for this comment. I've seen folks do sub for sub and always recommend against it. I can understand why it happens though. Getting the first set of eyes then subs on a channel is quite challenging. I feel with UA-cam, the metrics are so tight, it's easy to screw with any momentum you may have. If I could give any advice, it would be to naturally grow a channel, and rather than sub for sub, focus channel collaborations. Those don't often net many subs, but the ones you gain will be more likely to continue consuming the videos you release. I wish you nothing but the best going forward.

  • @GameplayandTalk

One giveaway when it comes to purchased subs (or even views) is looking at the videos themselves. Empty comment section? Major red flag right there and not the sign of a healthy/active community. Anyway, I appreciate video topics such as this. As someone that's been around a while, it's easy to become disheartened by the whole system. • @Jenovi

The unfortunate side is that channel was fine, had an audience, and steady slow growth. Then it all the sudden jumped in subs, other creators in that space start questioning their own work, impact, and if they are waisting their time. Channels close up over stuff like this, and while those people may be a little soft due to that, it's still concerning that they would close up shop over what's essentially a fraud. So yeah, I want my friend to know, we all have doubts, we all have dreams for out channel, and we all need to hear this. That's my view.

As someone who really just makes videos out of passion projects and not trying to worry about growth or success this was a very reaffirming video with alot of positivity. Trying to meet the YT metrics of success is very stressful and it can take the fun out of making content for some people. When you just want to talk about things that interest you and end up finding other friends who can enjoy it, that is a real genuine benefit of being able to have a platform like YT. The pressure of schedules and chasing numbers kind of fades into the background so you can just work at your own pace and put out whatever content you enjoy. Great video!

Breaking down those numbers was much appreciated and for some folks like myself who have basically zero knowledge of how good or bad our channels are doing, it at least gives us some kind of baseline to follow. For others it may at least temper expectations and help them understand that you don't need to go from small to gigantic in an instant. In the end if even only a few people at least keep an open mind after watching this video or the one I had uploaded about buying subs then I think it's mission accomplished. :)

It’s one of the hardest blows a content creator can take when they work on a video for weeks thinking it will be a success only to fail,
It honestly makes you rethink if we should just put all of our free time to something else that’s more meaningful.
Having consistent uploads each week isn’t easy if it requires a lot of effort and research and unfortunately UA-cam dosent like that.
But like you said their is always a niche audience for every type of content.

A fantastic video Jenovi, bought subs is a topic i have often heard talked of, but didn't really understand why people would chase to the degree they did.
The usual red flags for myself I have witnessed were unnatural jumps in subscription counts, very low interactions in the comments section and by the same individuals, who either just happened to own the obscure platforms being covered or had been completely and utterly aware of the platforms until they saw the video in question
Once the behaviour pattern becomes established, they are rumbled.
Also sock accounts, channels that suddenly appear, only comment on videos by same host, appear after existing, well known sock accounts are exposed and dissapear

Just wanted to say that your videos are amazing. You put so much detailed research, thought, and explanation, into everything you upload. I could easily see your channel exploding soon. Thanks for all the dedicated time, and hard work. 🫡
