Back when the SNES was first launched I bought it just so I could play Super Mario World. That was the only game I had for a couple of months and I played the heck out of it! SMW and various rentals kept me occupied until Christmas of 91 when I got Final Fantasy II and Simcity!
Yeah, I bought my PS2 for MVP Baseball 2005. I was part of an online forum for a PC baseball game and they were talking this game up, so I bought the console.
Funnily enough, I never got a system for specific games until I got a GameCube about 6 years ago! (After gaming for 30 years) Twin snakes and MLB slugfest.
Spiderman for PS4. I grew up collecting Spidey comics and have always been a fan of the character. I fell out of gaming and then I heard about Spider-Man and saw the pics and vids and was blown away. It was the Spider-Man game I wanted as a kid. Waited for some reviews to drop then I went out to Game stop and bought a used PS4 and the game. Also a PS2 for Metal Gear Solid 2 and Gran Turismo 3.
I've always been a big fan of handheld gaming ever since I got had my first Radio Shack LCD game being Highway, and my first real Handheld being the Game Gear that came with Sonic the Hedgehog, so when I heard the GBA was going to have Sonic Advanced, I just knew I had to get it, and loved it, and it's still one of my favorite Sonic games right next to the Game Gear Sonic 1.
I'm a huge Nintendo fan so I was pretty happy with my GameCube and the games that where releasing. I got an XBox cause I apricate good graphics and the Dreamcast game ports. And kind of late, but I bought a PlayStation 2 for Kingdom Hearts.
Sorry for the long answer. I bought a Sega Saturn for $50 CAD, with all the hookups, 1 controller and 1 game called Night Warriors Darkstalkers Revenge back in 2014. At the time I never even heard of the game or of the Sega Saturn but for some reason it just got me curious. The box art looked interesting. The screen shots looked cool. After finishing all my school work as I was in post secondary & dinner I finally set up the console and played that game all evening. I remember really enjoying playing as Felicia probably because she had no clothes on. This is the game that kicked off my love for the Sega Saturn and this may sound a bit weird but this was also the game I was like “Ah so this is the Capcom game that weird chick with green hair (Morrigan Aensland) in Capcom vs snk 2 EO on my gamecube came from. Lol.” My North American Sega Saturn collection is one of the smaller libraries of games I own for all my consoles I own but I'm definitely proud of what I own. I've always enjoyed talking about the system, my thoughts and opinions on the system itself, the games I own for it (Japanese or North American) it's history and how its legacy lives on to this day.
WiiU just for Xenoblade Chronicles X is probably my most notable. Pretty much the only reason I own the console today. Use to be a big Sonic fan, had a Sega CD for Sonic CD and Dreamcast for Sonic Adventure. Also picked up Xbox and 360 to play Halo and Call of Duty with the bros.
Only twice have I bought a system for a specific game. The first was OG Xbox for Splinter Cell. The second, although a slightly different reason, was the Switch because I wanted the actual Animal Crossing version of the console. I don't play Animal Crossing, but I found the console gorgeous. 2 years later I have 3 Switch's and a physical library of close to 500 games - I love it.
My first console bought brand new with my money : a Gameboy pocket, and with it, Pokemon blue !!! Waiting my analogue pocket to play it again on a better screen
The reason I bought a GameCube was to play Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader. It's the only time I've ever bought a console because of just one game (although not the only game I ended up buying and enjoying).
I can’t think of a System that I bought for only 1 or two games but I can say that I skipped on the Gamecube back in the day and ended up picking one up for two main games to start. Super Smash Bros. Melee and Mario Kart Double Dash. I ended up finding other games later but those were the main titles I bought the system for at the time.
That’s awesome. I was excited to pick up Melee, day one purchase. What I didn’t know was the game was a sequel. I was shocked to later learn of the N64 game and that I somehow didn’t know it existed.
PS2 for Kingdom Hearts and GT3. I had no interest in the system coming off the Dreamcast and was more interested in there Xbox’s potential. Since those 2 were exclusive, I knew I needed a PS2.
@@Jenovi honestly on a scale from 1 to 10 its a 25. For retro gamers like us it feels like it was made for us. Despite the fact it's a semi open world third person shooter. I'd say it is like a good SEGA model 3 arcade game from the 90s. Except on steroids

Oh man, I couldn't wait to play Super Mario World. It was a real game changer.
Yeah, I bought my PS2 for MVP Baseball 2005. I was part of an online forum for a PC baseball game and they were talking this game up, so I bought the console.
When the GameCube came out I was too old to care anymore.
😂
Funnily enough, I never got a system for specific games until I got a GameCube about 6 years ago! (After gaming for 30 years) Twin snakes and MLB slugfest.
🤠 that’s how these old platforms suck in new customer.
I wanted the Saturn for Dragonball Z: The Legend.
Got the PS2 for Final Fantasy 10
Got the Xbox 360 for Mass Effect :P
Mmmmmm Mass Effect.

Man, so many hours spent with the GBA. I still carry one with me to this day.

Nice! Xbox having Sega games certainly helped bring me on board as well.
PS4 - Bloodborne
Switch - Breath of the Wild
PC Engine:
-Soldier Blade
-Gate of Thunder
PS4
-Uncharted 4
In that gen I had the cube since launch. Then I got the Xbox for Panzer Dragoon Orta and later the PS2 for Final Fantasy X.
Sorry for the long answer.

I bought the original PlayStation for Resident Evil alone.
UA-cam recommending me this short after watching your new video.
I bought a (used) PS4 so I could play Spider-Man.
Fantastic system and amazing game IMO.
@@Jenovi Looking forward to the sequel. I like that Sony is now bringing their games to PC. I chose to buy a PC for work over a PS5.

Splinter Cell runs amazing on the Xbox one via backwards compatibility. Still looks incredible in 2022.
Love the switch and OG Xbox. I travel a ton for work, so handheld are a godsend.
Dreamcast - Jetset Radio & Capcom vs SNK
Those were good times.
My first console bought brand new with my money : a Gameboy pocket, and with it, Pokemon blue !!! Waiting my analogue pocket to play it again on a better screen
Gamecube for me was Fzero
The reason I bought a GameCube was to play Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader. It's the only time I've ever bought a console because of just one game (although not the only game I ended up buying and enjoying).
The Gamecube is the last system for me which I purchased due to games I was anticipating.

I chose a gamecube specifically for rogue squadron
PS2 for Kingdom Hearts and GT3. I had no interest in the system coming off the Dreamcast and was more interested in there Xbox’s potential. Since those 2 were exclusive, I knew I needed a PS2.
3DO Killing time

Picked up the SNE$ specifically for Barbie: Super Model.

@@Jenovi But seriously... I bought an Xbox one specifically for Fallout 4.

How is he liking it? You really should do a showcase of what systems you have.
At least ur an og. The gamecube is god now....to all those frauds who didnt even support it or look it's way
Got a ps2 just for guitar hero
I’ve still never played a game in that series.
