The fact that the rondels turned out less than perfect actually made this build truly more realistic. The guys would hand paint them anyways so this method using the circuit and the masking looks so much more authentic.

As to the Gun Barrels you opened, what is shown is an outer barrel shroud for the M-3, .50-Caliber machine-gun. What I do is open the hole as you did, paint the shroud gun-metal gray then insert a silver tube to emulate the guns barrel which were chromed.

The cockpit needs serious correction. As Brett Green said "The cockpit is really poor. I find it astonishing that Trumpeter has once again repeated their error of a flat cockpit floor, while the real floor was the curved top profile of the upper wing. The flat floor compounds errors, resulting in sidewalls, the pilot’s seat and the rear bulkhead all noticeably lacking in height.".

I absolutely adore the P-40. I know it wasn't the "best" by any stretch of the imagination, but it has that iconic look of a true fighter. All iterations of her, and you made an absolute banger of a replica. Kudos, this earned a sub from me. at this time of 01SEP2023, I'm finishing my Revell 1:48 of a P-40B Tigershark in the "Flying Tigers" scheme. Scale modelling is one of those arts that seems to be in the woodwork, but once you find those who do it, it's hard to keep your jaw off the floor, and everyone else's work only gives inspiration. And we seem to all be encouraging to the ones dabbling in starting their own journey!

Thanks once again Andy for such a phenomenal build. I subscribed today and left a comment on a very early build of yours suggesting you do a commentary. It dawned on me later that you had only started your channel. Sorry my friend. I’ve learned much from your video once again, particularly with your commentary. 😃 What really inspires me above all the other channels I’ve watched thus far, is how you weather the various parts of your plane as you go. That’s very different to most other builders of planes and tanks for that matter. I like the way you weather as you go along. It’s very inspiring and makes sense. It’s been 40 years since I first modelled. So am enjoying my teenage years once again. Thanks Andy for your inspiration.
