Nice flight! Impressive distance. My P3P record is 15,000 ft. I made the decision to return home at that point. I always fly into the wind (even if it's not a strong wind) on any distance flights. That way I always have more than enough battery to return home. Glad you got it back!
I did a few tests with mine and found the best way to get Max range and conserve battery was to do 22-24 MPH going out (about the same speed it returns at). I was able to get 18,555' (3.51 miles) with my Phantom 3 Advanced (stock). Made it out and back and had 22% battery left when I landed it. When I went full speed out to the point where it told me to return to home I made it 2.5 miles, so I was able to gain another mile out by reducing the speed that it flew out. Glad you got it back and it was okay.
GREAT music choice for a drone that "WILL NOT MAKE IT HOME" lol.....well done man. Impressive. Do you have any hints at avoiding radio interference? My P3 is having some issues at some locations when I ask it to move forward....and it slowly drifts left....and not forward....I"m assuming compass interference or 2.4 gHz signals around...
Yeah, you gotta take into account wind direction and speed on the way out - you won't make that mistake again. I have also noticed pretty hard landings with the auto-land function. Don't know why; the thing knows exactly where the ground is.
No way wow that is sweet! :) Well done on your video ! :) Greetings from Ireland ! I love flying my Q500 for some aerial footage! :) Thumbs up from me ! :)
I realise this is an old video but you can keep a P3 flying below 10% battery. You have to throttle up and I am not sure how much control you have or how much distance you can cover but it might be enough to pull you out of a hole if you were, say, over water. Unless over water make a controlled landing before you lose all charge!! I wouldn't recommend it as routine and it may not be good for the battery but, in appropriate circumstances, possible damage to the battery is preferable to loosing the drone . I have flown below 10% and maybe down to 0% but it is an already defective battery and I was hovering 2ft or so over the landing spot. With no mods that's good going. I've had about 1.5 mile over open water with std antennae and maybe 2 mile with aftermarket antennae. I can't remember if I was getting poor signal during the latter flight or if my 'bottle' ran out lol
Was it close enough for you to see it come down? I noticed the tractor in operation out to the left of you about 200 yds and wondered if he saw it coming in?
Great video. Only got my first flight today with my new DP3P. Never heard of gimbal guard but will order one now after this. Glad you got it back in one piece. Have you had any modifications done to extend the range?
You always have to know the wind direction when doing a distance test. This is not a dig because we all learn from our mistakes. I made it almost 15,000 feet and landed with 40 percent battery
How did you get signal at over 3 miles away? Is this all stock equipment on the Phantom 3? I know you can lower the video quality and extend past 1.2 mi (default max range) up to 1.8 mi or something like that. But 3 miles? I'd like to know!

Beautiful video, i love the minimalistic look, also the music.

Charles Lawson this was a huge grass farm with no radio towers or large power lines. thanks for the comment
Great ! i love the music choice, glad you got it back.
Great video mate, thumbs up. Cheers from the IGY Simpson Bay Marina, Sint Maarten in the Caribbean.

Dale Clark lesson learned lol

Interstellar music is fantastic. Nice video!
i was thinking that too. perfect music choice for this.
Amazing vid!!! GreExcellentat job!

wow bro, love your video. great job
Hi have a phantom vision stock . Running stock. What would I need to do and get software and gear to do what u did ??? It was awesome :)
Awesome, but sobering. I always have to remind myself to fly into the wind on a distance run. Then you get that boost on the way back.
GREAT VIDEO GREAT MUSIC

I like the OSD, curious what you used to achieve the real time OSD. Thanks for sharing.
***** dashware
Wow man that was intense for me it felt like I was watching a interstellar movie because of the music
As soon as I heard Hans Zimmer's (music) I loved your video
So I am assuming on the return trip the wind was pushing against the aircraft resulting in a much lower speed.
HeyitsCalifornia correct.
this song is from interstellar, loved that movie
The bgm gives me more epic feeling when I see this 5:27, alright alright alright!!!

Should've dropped altitude as low as possible but still have signal. Possibly could have been less wind lower.
This distance with actual video link all the time???
This video made up my mind, my next drone will be a Phantom 3
it was with the normal antennas?
Did you ever find your drone???
very good job may friend!!! a lot of likes ....
Awesome video! How did you display the flight information at the bottom of your video?
Barrett. Campbell used dashware. pulled the flight logs from the p3p and converted the data.

Thanks for the informative video, wow 16,700 feet!! Question? Why didn't you land it earlier, on a filed and go find it? also was Camera damaged?
0 0 7 MUSIC GROUP no damage. luckily I installed the gimbal guard on this flight.

Austin Marti no mods. just a clear day with nothing between me and the p3p.
Nice vid. I have the same phantom. Only got 2.1ks distance so far. How are you getting that telemetry on the bottom of the video?
DSG used dashware. pulled the flight logs from the p3p and converted the data.
Do you have any modifications to get it to go that far?
American stock p3p. no mods.
it's not a glitch is that the drone calculate exactly the time to go home
How did you add the telemetry in the video?
Jeff Gritchen used dashware. pulled the flight logs from the p3p and converted the data.
Good try. Glad you got it back.
how did you monitor this flight? i have signal issues at 1500 feet.
clark cross no mods..never lost video signal
Did u find it
Dylan Cole yes. luckily.
What was the reason for slow return speed? Wind?
StricCeli yes it was the wind
what sw isshowing the stats at the bottom of the screen?
Parker Fairfield dashware
Still a great effort
excellent thriller
This was an emotional journey lol
ahhh the music....
Lucky the guy on that tractor didn't run it over or take it...
Damn thats far.. I did 15000 feet
Amazing footage and love the interstellar soundtrack man haha were planning on buying a drone soon go check out our channel and subscribe!!
