remember not to descend vertically as they don't like flying through their own propwash, its safer to descend diagonally or in circles to avoid the near loss of control you see around 8mins.
That camera gimbal had amazing stability during the descent when the quad was going into convulsions slipping air and altitude. Gotta say that is a true test of the gear.
As a pilot, I assure you this can do significant damage or bring down an airplane. For those comparing to birds, most don't fly at these altitudes. Passenger jets typically fly at 180 to 250 knots below 5000 feet, at those speeds, this will rip a hole in a wing or destroy an engine.

There's a couple of really good lessons in this video. Number one when doing something like this as a responsable pilot I should know it's going to take longer to descend from altitude than it did to get to altitude. If you descend straight down it can get very rough because of turbulence under the quad. 2nd this particular pilot did not panic he continued piloting and remained calm and controlled. If we panic we will crash.
It's easy to stay calm when your flying a drone at over 4000 ft. from ground, you have time and control. It's a little tougher when your over a river at 120" agl and you get a message "landing now" and the quad starts head directly down into the river without inputs and very little time.

Awesome video! Odds of hitting this spec of plastic in the vastness of air space over the world? Im guessing astronomically less than being struck by lightning. Its in the air at airplane altitudes for a maximum of 12 minutes, its about 18 inches wide by 12 inches tall, and theres maybe 1 flight per month to this height in any given 50 mile radius on average. If your plane hits this thing accept that it was your destiny. Take the whining elsewhere.

What the hell are you talking about. You only need a license in the US to operate a UAV commercially, as in for business. For hobby use you only have to register the UAV if it is between .55 and 55 lbs. anyone over 13 can register a drone with no requirements other than a fee.
I bet that turbulence at around the 9 minute mark made the pilot's sphincter tighten a bit.

Man, the authorities in EVERY country across the world are waiting for an accident to happen to banish the drones more and more, and it is our responsibility as pilots to NOT let accident happen. It happened in the USA though now you NEED a pro license to pilot a drone, of any kind...
You may be a awesome pilot, I don't know, but your drone is a machine, and mechanics fails sometimes.
What the hell are you talking about. You only need a license in the US to operate a UAV commercially, as in for business. For hobby use you only have to register the UAV if it is between .55 and 55 lbs. anyone over 13 can register a drone with no requirements other than a fee.
Everything in the USA is about money ...everything is legal as long as they get money if not it’s ilegal
Absolutely right!
@@docbrown8035 a drone falling from 300 ft is a deadly weapon.
