- Billi soaked up our time together this morning. I always feel guilty when I have busy weeks! I left the last bit of this exchange as is, no speeding up between her presses. Really show-cases the amount of time she can take to get a thought out.

Billi is a female domestic shorthair, she's 13 years old, her favorite word is mad.
Inspiration for learning to “speak” with buttons from Hunger4Words (check her out on IG).

Billy: MOM, MA, MAMA, MOMMY, MUM, MOTHER…
Kendra: WHAAAAT??
Billi: love you 😽
I think they should limit Billi's tv time lol
🤣
🤣I actually use that audio clip as the ringtone for my mom on my phone
😂
Billi totally missed her mom. She probably pressed the button thousands of times the last few days when you were busy working. That’s why it needs new batteries.🤣
That'd be interesting to know if Billi starts button talking to herself, becausr she clearly does understand it to be communication.
She said Billy doesn't press the buttons when humans are gone.
In a past video she noted Billi doesn't use the buttons when no one is home when reviewing camera footage. I'm sure Billi is thinking of mom though even if she doesn't push the buttons
@@davidtauriainen9116 she doesnt
🥺😫
The broken Mom button is just Billi's way of doing the "MOM! MOM! MOM! MUM! MUMMY! MOMMA!" bit from Family Guy
LOIS! LOIS!!
@@Moondragon1821 just so you know I know the bit but when you commented Lois Lois it changed it even though that's the girl's name to Law's laws apparently it thought you were speaking another language I don't know what language that would be but just thought you should know
I was waiting for Billi to say "hi" 😂😂😂
@@brandibastian4193 French for some reason 🤔
Thats what I was thinking lmao.
I think the delay in choosing the 'love you' button was Billi thinking: "What was it that I used to say in the mornings that made it hard for Mom to leave? .... Oh yeah." Presses 'love you' 😀
Lays on the guilt thick 😹
Billi must trade cuddles for fan toy to prevent mothers work
It's simply that Billi doesn't speak. It only presses random buttons interpreted by the owner.
@@disobedientdolphin the same could be true of you.
So much smarter than we think.
It's like there's just so much more she wants to express to you. You see it in her multiple pressing of "mom," and then hesitating, and then seemingly settling for "pets" and finally "love you." And all those long looks at you and in the distance. She's so precious.
It’s broken so it repeats instead of playing once like it’s supposed to
Regarding your description box statement that this "really showcases the amount of time it can take Billi to get a thought out" I would say this really showcases how patient Mom is. 🙂
That too 😂
Mom: what billi want hmmm?
Billi: *calculates every single possible outcomes of choices it can make in the next 1 minute*
Billi: mom
My heart figuratively melted when she pressed the Happy button. Oh Billi you beautiful little angel.
The excitement on her face when you got up and said "food mousey" 😻😻😻
It sure lights up 😹
She wasn't too happy about mum leaving, that sure light her up.
Billi gave me a good laugh with the mom button. She was letting you know it needed a battery. I enjoy her videos so much.
I think she was enjoying the rhythm!
@@annother3350 she looked a little offended to me like "your button is broken how could you."
That moment when she stares through the camera in your soul as she presses "yes"
"Mom!"
Mom: "What does Billi want?"
Billi: Looks longingly at Mom...
"Mom! M-m-m-mom!"
I can understand. My baby girl has been extra needy after our vacation out of state. She even goes to the bathroom with me and sits on my lap a lot (on the couch, lol). She is not really a lap cat most times.
Also, the way Billi looks up after pushing the buttons (conveying her earnest hopes that the message gets across) gets me every time.😌😊
Yes. It is amazing to watch her mind work out what she wants to express. ❤️. She is such a sweet and clever fur baby.
❤️ I love seeing the two of you communicate. Maybe "mom yes mom love you" is a way of saying "I love it when you're here." I really love seeing Billi use that processing time to express her thoughts. Never ceases to amaze me how she started to use buttons as after age 10!!
She had a very distinct advantage, most cats can understand many words provided you use them consistently. Several words she picked up instantly because she heard them many times and knew the context where they were used. One of the very few things that increases with age is one's own vocabulary as well as one's own dexterity with communication which means that as a 10-year-old cat she has a very good grasp on what Kendra sounds like what words mean and how they apply to her and her environment. Billy knows a lot of English, the real fun is figuring out which word she already has a good grasp on. For instance all words concerning time she learned in a day. She'd obviously heard Kendra and her partner use those words many many times to talk about when they would be back and when they would be leaving.
As for the “yes mom … love you” I was wondering if in this particular case she might’ve meant “yes mom I know that you love me” since it was a response to Kendra saying that in the context of her being about to leave. This could be a reason for that long pause, with her working out the closest approximation.
I am very impressed by her understanding of the 'mom' button being on the fritz, so she just touches it without triggering the poor battery's death throes. Her shocked (surprised?) look when she pushed it at the end and it actually worked without spazzing out was priceless, lol. She's a smart girl, that cat.
When Billi heard food mousey she got up immediately 😂
I don't think she even processed the word "mousey." Just "food".... 😃
Hell yeah mom! I'll take a food mousey now AND when you get home!
This is such a sweet interaction.
Billi is a simple cat. She just wants her mom. ❤️
Just like everyone else.
I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to share Billi and these videos with us. I have been dealing with a lot of health/pain issues, and your videos never fail to warm my heart and give me a moment of calm. Many thanks❤️
Sending healing thoughts! ❤️🩹
Hope - I agree.
Your comment suddenly sprouted tears in my eyes. These covid times have been isolating and sad. Billi has helped so many of us. 💛
Same! Hope you feel better OP
I had really bad pain today, couldn't walk right. Homeopathy helped alot; almost doesn't hurt now.
That was like she got the same sort of writers block I get sometimes writing a greeting card. She was looking for the right words but in the end all she could come up with is "love you."
That's the same impression I got. Like a little kid trying to come up with the perfect words to let Mom know how much she missed her.
Yeah... watching that slow tail twitch while she was thinking it over was a giveaway. And she didn't just go for the MAD button either.
I feel like she was thinking of something to make her not go to work and stay home :(
Not me crying at this comment 😭
I know what Billi wants. It's obvious. She wants EDM. She especially likes the "extended dubstep mom remix".
Now I want a Billi-version of that mug where her tail wraps around the handle :)
I thought that’s what it was at first!
Billy: **presses "mom" button**
Button: Mo-mo-mo-mo-mo-mo-mo-mom
Mom: Yes, what do you want? **gets Billy's paw out of the button**
Billy: HEY, I WAS ENJOYING THE MOM RAP HERE!
The tensions before the "love you" had me on the edge of my seat 🤣
@@schwozraymond7524 Good ol' chap, how's yours?
Billie has the exact face of the cat in the new game stray. She could have been the model. So cute!
both are very smart kitties
how's the game? it's in my shopping cart, but i'm waitin to hear more about it. looks good from what i've seen & heard.
@@estibon3872 From what I've heard: Beautiful game, extremely well-animated cat, kind of short, has some issues running on PC.
@@estibon3872 My husband is playing it and he loves it. I'm playing next.
I've watched several let's plays. Amazing game from what I've seen from several content creators reactions, and obviously the cat is extremely well done.
Awwww...I wish none of us had to go away to work and leave our cats.
I work from home every other week but that's still not enough for my cat. This week I'll be wfh but she will still be annoyed when I go back to the office the week after.
I hate leaving mine to run errands.
Luckily, I’ve got to stage in my career where I can organise a reduced school teaching timetable! Mine judge me a lot if I’m away too often…
Omg I never thought of all the batteries you need to buy! 😬😬 Well, we all appreciate it that’s for sure! 🥰
Rechargeable batteries
Me: "Billi doesn't want mom, she just want to make a sick beat."
Billi: Stares straight into the camera. "Yes."
Me: ... 😳
When Billi pressed yes and stared at the camera that was a little spooky
I watched that interview, I was surprised to learn Billi's age. She's such a delight. Thanks for sharing her with the world.
Billi looked straight into the internet's eyes (and our souls) and declared "Yes. I love my mom!"
She's the best!
I love how Billi smiles when she's petted.
Billi spamming the "Mom" button makes me smile. She must use it a lot for it to run outta batteries.
Billi wants you to hear this SICK BEAT
When Billi put her paw back on the broken Mom button, I literally laughed so loud I’m sure the rest of the house heard me!
Kendra: Food Mousey
Billi's body language: omg yes!!! [wiggles her primordial pouch all the way over]
Love is found in the cheek scent glands AND the tummy.
The fan toy was never even requested.
A miracle! I should by a lotto ticket.
Billie was doing the Stewie Griffin skit where he kept saying, "mom, momma, mother, Lois, mom, etc." lol well played Billie, well played lol
She's a smart cat
Watching this and a thought popped into my head, "I wonder if Billi knows she's on camera," then she tapped "yes"
I'm shook
Omg when you took her paw off the mom button 🤣 I totally heard the Windows shut down tune in my head 🤣
Poor Billi misses Mom when she's away for work too much. I feel for you sweet girl. It's hard to be away from people you love.
I’m new to your channel, but I’ve been watching the What About Bunny videos for a long time. I just watched several of the Dad ones. So sad! Yet sweet! 🥹 She is so different in this one. More peaceful. Content to be right by you. More serene. And her facial expressions and body language are open and loving, ready to receive and give love. Amazing to see such a difference from those videos!! 🤩 I appreciate you sharing these! I can’t wait to teach my golden retriever and 3 cats! I have one cat (long haired orange tabby male) who is almost constantly trying to communicate. I think he will be so relieved, and I’ll love what’s going on in his gorgeous, sweet head! 😊🥰❤️ He loves when I respond to him! And he has at least 25 distinctive tones that I can tell mean different things. When I get it right in response, he seems like “yes!!!” 😄😂🥰❤️
Did you cry because I would have bawled. Billi is so sweet and such a smart little lady
This video was so precious. She truly values the time you can spend together whether it’s pets, cuddles, or fan toy! It’s so hard to leave your pets to go to work. Like you want to say “I know, buddy, I also want to cuddle and play, but someone has to pay for food and shelter!”
Does it mean that Billi oftentimes press "work" while you're at work that it ran out of battery? Sweet Billi, she really missed you that much 💔🥰
Welcome back, Billi!
^ ^

Billi; "While you were gone, I pressed the Mom button many times and it failed to summon the Mom. I insist that this feature be added!"
Billy was just discovering her passion as a dj, when her mom took her out of it, smh
She reminds me so much of my gray furbaby who passed recently and who was so communicative, expressive, and needy. I miss her beyond comprehension. ❤️
I think Billi is saying she had missed you when you had been busy at work. There’s really no past tense verbs in that vocabulary but I think she just may be constructing a sentence that says she missed you.
I can't believe you had to lift her paw off the "mom" button😂 it's like the equivalent of muting a kid's cartoon to get their attention
Billi is wise..she takes her time with her thoughts to make sure she gets her point across accurately and clearly.
It's like a conversation in a classic Japanese film (like Kurosawa's "Rhapsody in August").
if only humans did the same.
Billi: 🥺 Mom stay Home!
That's just cute and sad
Billi: (meanders aimlessly and coyly) "Imma poor wittle kitty cat hoo jus' wants luv 'n' rubs."
Mom: "Food Mousey"
Billi: (snaps to military attention) "Indeed, madam, I fully comprehend the meaning you are attempting to convey, and will attend forthwith." (beelines to the bowl after appropriate salute)
She has such a cute little face aaaa
I just wanted to say thank you? Billi reminds me a bit of my cat, Cat. She crossed the rainbow bridge late last year so it’s been good to see Billi. Definitely give her some pets from me
You’ll know when it’s time. It was three or four months after my cat passed before I could think of looking at another one. We went to our local shelter - so many cats! The Director even offered to make me a ‘ 2 for 1 deal‘ with a pair of high energy, sibling kittens. Lol she told us to go home and think about it for a few days. When we went back, I still wasn’t quite sure, and then it hit me - which one had been there the longest? A 2 1/2 yr. old female Torti, who was doing her best to avoid everyone and everything, by laying on top of an 8 foot high bookcase in the director’s office. She had been there over 6 months! My heart hurt for her😿. I took her home, and have had her now for 11 years. She’s definitely my little ESA(Friend!). Anyone who says cats don’t have any personalities, have never had one for a friend.💗
So sorry for your loss. I lost my baby a few months ago and am still devastated. Billi reminds me a lot of her as well...super intelligent, communicative, and affectionate. 💔
@@littledabwilldoya9717 I'm so glad to hear that you adopted the one who needed a home the most - and that it worked out!
@@deprofundis3293 She’s the best😻. Seems depressed that we can’t go out and work in the garden- it’s pretty cold here in Michigan right now. But I’ve found some videos on YT for cats (birds and squirrels), and also games, so will let her ‘watch kitty tv’ on my iPad most days, which she really seems to enjoy.😽
I was having a bad day today but watching Billi and you made me feel happier. I am really enjoying watching these and how Billi makes "sentences" with the word buttons. She's a smart kitty!
When Billi presses the "Love you" button it's the cutest thing ever
I see you are so patient with her, Kendra. Beautiful to see. 🥰💗
The way billi looking at thr camera and saying yes😮 knows we're watching
What a good kitty Billi is. So sweet, even when she can be sassy. Thank you so much for sharing such a wonderful cat with us. I wonder after seeing her videos, what she would say if she could truly talk; and what other cats have to say. I feel sure my old tuxie would have had things to say, and my current two would, as different as they are. Extra pets for Billi. So impressive.
She wants you to fix the button!!! She’s getting frustrated, then gives up. Bless.
I feel that Billie is trying to help you with work-life balance: you’ve worked so much that your “work” is out of battery, and you should give Billie some “pets”, “yes” you should “mom”, and if you do that, both of you will be “happy”. Have some self “love”!
Lol I love her personality! She doesn't give those "I love you's" lightly!
I really enjoy watching your conversations with Billie. Does Billie's back still seem to be bothering her?
It’s on and off, but managed very well!
“Yes” *stares into the soul of the viewer*
We miss you Billi! 😢
I love how Billi was just saying "Mom, love you" frequently, that was super cute & sweet.
This is absolutely adorable and have you ever thought of getting a inside cam so that way when you and dad are at work, both of you can see how much she talks?
They have a motion sensor camera. Billi doesn't use the buttons when there is no human to communicate with. 🙂
Billy has that inward looking face where you know he's thinking deep thoughts and trying to express them with just the buttons. WOW. Amazing to see.
Aww Billi loves her Momma ♥️🐾

You made me rethink the personhood of cats.
I think Bili might have been enjoying the glitched 'Mom' button~ XD
I just found your channel and i am just dumbfounded. Omg this is literally one of the most impressive things ever lol. Cats seems so hard to train! Like one of my cats no matter how many times i push him off the bed and off my laptop, he just comes right back. and i am convinced he's too stupid to be trainable. Maybe my other cats, but it still seems so difficult. I trained my dog like a piece of cake, im pretty good with animals.... but the amount of words Billie knows and how intricate it all is is so AMAZING! You are my official cat GOD lol. I will always look up to you from now on. Thank you for showing us ❤
so cute, feel like Billi's one of them, they don't even want to ask for pets, they just wanna say mom, and you just know hah. then builds up the courage to say love you.
I love it just proves that animals have a consciousness and can think but because they can't speak the language barrier
This doesn't prove anything. For all you know, they do this a thousand times a day and only upload when it kind of makes a coherent string of words through sheer brute force. This cat is NOT communicating anything past " I pushed the button, do I get a treat again?"
Bless you Billie! You are truely a sweetheart ❤️
It looks like she's looking for words. Maybe you could give her "button" button, so she could signal "button ouch"? Another question is whether the "cuddle" always means "pets on the lap" only? Does Billi enjoy headbutts or hugs?
That love you is so rare coming from cats, you're so lucky! ❤
YES!!! A 5 minute Billi video! As it should be. 😁❤
Absolutely precious! ❤🐾
It is good to have Mom close by
this is so beautiful I can't stop crying watching you guys express your love and affection.
My heart is melting. Such a cutie! 🥰
He seems to touch the “mum” button and expect petting. He even closed his eyes and lifted his head. He’s a smart cat.
I wonder if the "Mom" and "Yes" buttons aren't in response to something that seems existential and/or transcendental in cats' perceptions of things. Maybe "Mom" means "pets," "yes" is the eternal answer to the eternally underlying question "do you want to bet petted?" etc. I.e., their real language is in terms of pets and other forms of touching, and they just put up with us slowing it down into words because they so generously condescend to our limits--which must be trying to them. She sits there, waiting, to see if her human student has gotten any further in "Intuitions 101" because she's a patient teacher who's been assigned this particular student to bring up to snuff.
I suspect they feel that way about all of us. "Can't they intuit, yet?" is probably the conversation in the kitty-teacher's lunchroom-in-the-sky.
What a sweetheart!
It just blows my mind 5
Like the interaction left in real time! Billi💜

I can only imagine the number of batteries you go through... I think she's just happy to have mom present... I love her beautiful face...
"Food mousey before I go?"
"Well, it's no fan toy, but it'll suffice in your absence" (what I think she thinks)
I'm surprised she didn't sneak a fan toy into the love fest!
So affectionate!!!
Billi really misses quality time with her mom-mom-mom-mom-mom
This was absolutely precious
I think a wired version of the device could work well. It could consolidate the buttons into one speaker and eliminate the need for batteries (or use one set for all buttons rather than per button)
Love how peaceful this video is❤
That's the Family Guy scene where Stewie repeats 'Mom' over and over.
