I love how much affection these two have for each other 🥰

Billi stares into the distance, finally at peace, her wish granted. She says, meaningfully,
"Dad"
😂
😄
😅 I sometimes think Billi uses mad for any negative feelings ie sad, upset, embarrassed, scared, etc. Not just actually mad.
Definitely.
It's her only available negative output.
@@kellypatterson4412 she does have "no", "ouch", and "all done", so I wouldn't say it's the only one.
She likely does, I think Kendra has said this too, she uses it for sad, frustrated, disappointed
@@mirjanbouma yep but hose words aren't emotional words. It does seem like Billi has used ouchbwhen she's had hurt feelings though
Love the look of complete satisfaction when she pressed “Dad” when he was actually there!
with a loving slow blink. adorable.
The ultimate proof against anyone who talks about it just being random button presses.
I just love that she slow blinked before pressing the Dad button. The absolute unfiltered adoration she has for Dad is so precious
Geez, I almost cried when Dad was going to leave so soon. I didn't realize how emotionally involved I am with Billi!
Same here 😔
I did actually cry... I was also upset when he left again. Why does the family have to be split up?
My cat gets upset when my partner is away too. He was away for a week for work and the first night she just stared at the door waiting for him to come home as usual. It was sad. If she had a Dad button then, she would have been pressing it.
Lol, Dad living up to his name, with the Dad joke 😂
"Dad, settle"... 🤯
and the fact she pushed all the buttons congruently and fluently proves she understood the concept 100%.
Is Dad FINALLY gonna record his voice on the “Dad” button!?!?
Oohh!
Yes!
@@BilliSpeaks yesss
@@BilliSpeaks Yay!!! Dad should be a radio broadcaster or read audiobooks. He has an awesome voice.
@@BilliSpeaks yes!!!!!
I always love Bili’s “thinking eyes” expression. Never seen that in any other cat.
I've noted that, too. If you go back to Billi's oldest videos, when she started learning the buttons she was kind of wall-eyed. She isn't anymore. :)
You just know when to pay attention now
I wonder if using words have taught her to actually think. Not sure I have ever seen that expression on other animals except apes. But then you kind of need a language to be able to think, at least more deeply.
@@teijaflink2226 Animals do think, it's just that we never payed attention. Teaching her to use the buttons is just given her a way for us dumb humans to understand her thoughts. That's all.
I concur… her eyes are very expressive & just love how she looks for confirmation while her tail does a little twitch! Also notice how she hardly meows anymore since her buttons!
Kitties meow a lot to humans( not to other cats) ‘cause they want us to understand them! Now they have buttons!!LOL
I feel sad when Billi can't see dad, but I admit that my heart breaks for you a bit, Kendra. I know you miss dad too and try very hard to be there for Billi. I know sometimes it must be exhausting to balance everything. I want you to know that I appreciate all that you put into sharing these moments ❤
🥰🥰🥰
@@BilliSpeaks why is dad away so much? I haven't seen you on my sm lately so I've obviously missed something
Sometimes Billi's intelligence can be a bit unnerving. The fact that she can kind of grasp timing in a numerical sense is fascinating, but also makes me wonder what else she can grasp? Like plans for trying to take over the world mayhaps...😅
I, for one, welcome our new fuzzy overlord :)
I don't know if it's strictly numerical, as in knowing exactly what 3 means... but understanding "more later" and "less later" is a critical step on the way there if she's still sneaking up on it.
@Ashes B I'd like to think I'd be strong and opposing to a fuzzy overlord, but let's be real; as soon as she'd ask for cuddles I'd break immediately 😄
The kitties have already taken over the world! LOL … certainly the virtual world !!
i bow down to supreme leader billie.
I'm not sure what's going through her mind, but my cat is fascinated by these videos. She comes to watch them as soon as she hears Billi pressing the buttons.
I think the researchers should do a study of the cats that watch Billi videos.
My cat is also fascinated. He is a "wobbly cat" and although he is mild compared to some, I think he is interested that Billi has the muscle control to press her button of choice and that her human responds. I put together a four-hour playlist of the videos he responded to the most. If he wants to watch Billi, he sits in front of the TV and glares at me, then looks back at the TV until I comply. 😊
Mine too! I put billi on when shes going through stressful times like car rides
@@ChristinaI And then stares at the TV some more because the Billi show is on!
Get her her own buttons!
As a cat dad to two girls I totally get it.
I find this to be wholesome on a level I can't really explain🤗
Awww ❤❤❤
We are all Billi, just waiting for dad cameos!! 😂 Look dad later.
Later later later. 3 laters
@@evgenialou2095 😂
Billi is a daddy's girl
This channel was recommended by a friend and I'll admit at first I thought "this lady is kind of a kook." But the more I watch the videos, the more you are changing my entire perspective about cats and the way they feel/think. They really are capable of forming some complex emotions and thoughts. You and Billi really are a special team. Your bond is amazing. And I truly believe you are advancing science in your own way and I LOVE it.
Love the dad joke he made
That "Dad settle soon"... WOW! You know I am always trying to remember that I am quite biased when I see Billi using these buttons like I want to interpret it as super aware communication but I dont want to be fooled by something that is much simpler. But hell.... this combination? The awareness of time, of things said, of things that are going to happen.
So unless we are all falling for some clever editing (and no, I dont think that ;) ) this just shows that cats are perfectly able to think in these abstract concepts.
Not only that they can think them, but convey it to us in our confusing and convoluted human language.
Billi does NOT like waiting for her Dad employee to get home 😂😂😂
“Mom mad too. Mom misses dad.”
Perfect! ❤️
Hearing Dad ask for Billi made me smile so hard. And she was so happy!
"Humans tell me nothing but lies. 😾" - Billi, probably
😂
The moment she mindblowns you with the "dad settle soon" cracked me up xDDDDDD
We gotta get Dad a job closer to home! ❤
We both travel, so wouldn’t really help!
Or we need to get Billi her own car/airplane. Lol
@@CrankyBarista Billi is smart enough to become a pilot for sure
@@leeleeb7413 this is what I picture Billi doing 😂:
ua-cam.com/video/w3rQ3328Tok/v-deo.html
I think she's actually starting to get an understanding of time, at least that dad can't always be home but he will come back home to Billi later.
iirc kendra’s only tried the countdown thing once before this so it’s honestly amazing that she seemed to remember the number of laters and chose to use soon on the day he was supposed to come! she is crazy smart
Later and soon is not an understanding of time how long is later when is soon it’s vague
At this point you should give her numbers, I'm positive she can count at least a bit.
was thinking the same!
Animals do understand simple math… dogs, horses, dolphins, rats, birds etc can be trained to understand one two threes at least.
@@songwolf108 But that is with objects isn't it rather than time? I'm not at all saying it's beyond animals, just that it harder to conceive of days. 🙂
@@lindamvernon that’s true but billi seems to know what night is, so maybe she could understand in the concept of “three nights” or something?
@@nckojita I think you are right. Three "nights" seems like a good idea. A very visual association. It has to get dark x number of times. That seems very concrete. 🙂
_"You gotta be kitten me."_ Naw, dude.... naw.... 🤣🤣🤣!
Dad jokes are for cat dads too 😂
That is so cute! Billi loves her dad. Cats are so smart and really understand more than people realize.
Because of this channel I have more communication with my cat, as it opened my eyes to realizing that could actually work and my cat is smarter and interested in expressing herself than I thought. The few buttons I had didn't exactly work out but it did teach her that words mean things sometimes. She does understand some words when I just say them: outside, here, food, treats, good, bad, sorry, no, owie, toes, and a few others.
Thats awesome! Im subbed to another channel "catmanjohn" where a cat Russell uses buttons (like Billi) to communicate.
If you are unfamiliar...
He has 3 siblings and will often use buttons to request things for not himself, but his siblings... and somehow he knows what hsu siblings want even though they do not use the buttons..?
Which made me come to the conclusion that cats (or animals in general) use psychic communication to talk to eachother, and Ive heard that humans who use imagery in their mind while speaking certain words makes it easier for cats to understand what is being said.
Ive tried this with my BFs cat, and low and behold... it works!
I highly suggest trying this... i think it may just blow your mind.
I have started using simple words consistently, and leaving out the joining words. My cat knows "out", "downstairs", "dinner", the phrase "Are you hungry?", "Keeten!" (means she's done something particularly cute), "Water?", the phrase "time for sleepy sleepy," and "cozy" (basically means I'll warm her up). There are three cats here, my senior cat gets along with the other two, but the other two don't get along with each other. So she knows, "Go see [junior cat's name]", "Go see [middle cat's name].
Yup me too. I don't think my kitten is ever going to be at this level but this channel has definitely made me take her efforts to communicate more seriously.
@@CrankyBarista Yes! I have seen catmanjohn's channel also, it's pretty amazing. There is one with a dog also but frankly I don't like the dog's personality much! lol. I've also noticed that my former cats would seem to pick up on my intent at times, imagery is a good term for it. My cat will also simply walk up to things and 'show' me what she wants a lot, but it took me a long time to figure out this meant something. Sometimes it looks like she's just doing a random U-turn past something, but then I realize I borrowed her blanket off the chair, 'oh you want your blanket on the chair', etc. Instead of just ignoring her I tell her it's in the wash or if she'll follow me I'll go tap on the machine. I'm just impressed she is has or is willing to try for this level of understanding.
Our boy understands the word no, he just doesnt care. Hes orange, overpacked with confidence and gall, so that explains part of it.
Great news!! I miss Dad too. I wonder if 'dad settle' meant something like 'is dad staying this time?'
I agree. She wanted him to stay.
Totally agree. She understands that "settle" means (at the most basic level) sit and stay.
So it totally makes sense that would be the word/button she would pick to use.
The look Billi gives the camera when he finally comes is almost cinematic.
The cuddle to dad was BRUTAL. I swore right with you. Thanks for being such an amazing mom, even when your kitten doesn't care about your feelings 💕 😭
One of the things you wouldn't know without the buttons: While gone, your cat can't wait to see you again!🤩 Definitely adds a dimension. Billi doesn't seem exuberant as the long awaited reunion happens ... but for sure she isn't the out of sight, out of mind kind.
She has to play it cool!
She asked for dad to settle, and he didn't. Mad.
My cats were always standoffish at first when I'd come home from college, I guess to make me think about what I'd done, but then they'd warm up. Misty always somehow knew when I'd be going back to college because she'd start lying in my suitcase the day before.
without the buttons: my cat would always wait at the window until i returned from school
thanks for giving us insight into the mind and life of a brilliant little cat! ✌🏻😎
Okay but can we appreciate the moment of Dad settle soon?
Oh no the "one more day" hurt right here in my meow meow >_< and she had the counting down figured out so well
😂 I'm pretty sure Billi knows she has a remote audience. When she's "talking" to Kendra, she often looks at Kendra. That looking towards the camera while pressing "Dad" was clearly meant for us - her adoring fans. 😻 _"Hey guys, my Dad's here!!!"_
pretty sure Billi doesn't understand the concept of youtube and online viewers
@@naylisyazwina6836 I'm not convinced that my cat doesn't understand the difference between murder and manslaughter. She's still working on the concept of alibis, so I think I'm safe ... for now. 😊
@@naylisyazwina6836 I don't know about that, mine will sit on my bed and watch TV, 'you want to watch your stories?' at the same time she's watching birds out the window - she recognizes the opening chirps of her favorite content creator channel - I am not going out on a limb to say she doesn't.
We saw that cat pun! Dad has succumbed to the lure of bad puns and Dad jokes!
Her tail swished faster when u said u lied 😂😂😂 went in hyperdrive angry
Wow Billi, even Dad got the cold shoulder at the end for food huh?🤣🤣
Billi noticed that mum used fewer later.🤯 Good girl Billi!😻
she definitely seems to be getting it!
Bittersweet Kendra’s training Billi to wave goodbye, considering she’ll gain a better understanding what it means
Aw, Billi loves her Dad so much. I wonder how long it'll take her to tell him all the injustices she has had to suffer at Guppy's paws. I think we'll all be hiding behind a cushion if Guppy is ever unwise enough to go to Dad for cuddles, it might push Billi over the edge.
🤣🤣True story. ✋✋
That moment when she pressed Dad and slow blinked 😭
"I'll be your Dad, Billi"
💜😹💜
Aww she’s so cute. Dad gives treats it’s like being spoiled when a parent comes home from a trip :)
It amazes me that Billi doesn't forget about Dad with the passage of time. Should we say an elephant AND a cat never forget?
Same with Grandma, squirrel (Kendras friend Billi calls squirrel Lol).
Billi had proven cats dont just live for the here and now, but actually understand and remember specific ppl and other animals in their lives.
Billi is single handedly breaking the laws and misinformation about what humans think we know of animals.
I’m pretty sure Kendra and Dad play games online and talk without a headset so she’s hearing Dad’s voice even if she can’t see him.
I remember when she started to ask for Squirrel, that came totally out of the blue. She remembers.
@@CrankyBarista I've tried to explain this to several people over the years.
Our Baloo (5) gets visibly upset after christmas celebrations each year, because he knows that new year's eve is close (we've watched fireworks on tv together with the sound almost off, so he understands and even seems to enjoy the concept - he'll watch a bit of it from the window, but at midnight he still wants to hang out in the little hollow we make for him in the bed)
He has different sounds for different people and animals, even those he doesn't see very often, and he has separate noises for when he wants us to play with him outside, when he wants to go for a hike and even when he thinks it's time for a lake side camping vacation. He remembers all of it.
The fact that there are horses outside at the vet and where they are; paths we've taken on hikes years ago; the appearance of a snack bag that we haven't bought for him since he was a kitten.. and don't even get me started on how angry he gets if dad has to work late, thus doesn't come home when he is supposed to.
He says hello when he comes home, he greets guests, says goodbye before going back out, tries to teach us how to climb trees by elaborately explaining using a surprisingly complex mix of chirps and meows.. it just blows my mind every time.
Talk to your cats, people! Teaching them different concepts is also relatively easy, but whether they'll actually care.. now that is a bit more tricky😂
interesting! are you trying to teach billi the concept of days? i can see her learning such a concept! after all, it is only the time between one morning and the next morning
if she grasps days, she can then learn words like tomorrow and yesterday!
Basically! Check out the video description for more explanation 😊
You need to put a calendar in her view and cross the days off like Billi were a child.
The heartbreak when Dad comes later instead of soon
Awe. Poor kitty. She certainly has a special bond with dad. Without her buttons we would have no idea how anxious she gets when he is away and how much he occupies her thoughts. In fact, I had no idea pets 'thought' about their families so much.
Just shows how she thinks of Dad ❤❤❤
Billi loves and, misses her dad. She knew he had to leave again. 😢
„Dad settle soon!“ 😊
OMG!! Billi is tired of missing dad & wants more than visits! She wants him to come & STAY, as she said "DAD SETTLE SOON!".
Dad. Finally.
Wow! Dad settle soon! 😮 yes!!!
I’m doing the “Dad home today”, yes today later or soon as the time approaches…as well with my cat, who talks and asks about Dad’s whereabouts. And if it is not today, I also say later later later for the number of days to go. Very hard concept. He is now asking in the evening as well as the morning so he is Definitely trying to understand the timing for his travel away. Mostly it’s away for 3 days, then a way two days but with holidays it can be different and very hard to explain that. Cats do get a consistent routine but this isn’t so consistent. Love that he is trying to understand! And so is Billi! Wonderful!
Billie and Dad back together again❣️ Soon all will be right in the world 😊
I count sleeps with my girl. I tell her how many nights she'll sleep alone when I'm gone. Billi understands night, when mom and dad sleep. Maybe counting nights will help her better understand the passage of time. Later is confusing because it's different amounts of time. More food later is like an hour. Where see dad later is days.
I was thinking about that too.
I was thinking the same thing! Using nights is less confusing.
I love how much she loves her Dad!!!🥰
Billi is becoming a Time Lord.
That's the longest time I've ever seen anyone take to count to 2. 😅
Listen, days of the week are not my forte 😹
Damn I think I've been looking forward to this reunion as much as Billi has!
You are clearly the third wheel in the house lol.

I love this 😊 Billi definitely showing cats can miss humans!
I feel like Dad pressing "Bye Billi" and then "Dad come later later later" would be a good idea
My sweet Billi cracks me up! She's so smart it's scary...😂❤
I hope Billi understands how much you miss Dad too. It must be hard on you to see him so little 😢
Billi blows my mind!! I just adore her.
I wonder if it would be easier for Billi to grasp if you used "night" instead of "day" or "later" eg; "three nights" or "night, night, night". She is so smart.
Maybe! I’m afraid to change it now though 😬 hopefully I can just transition over to days instead of laters.
@@BilliSpeaks It might have been viable if I had thought of it much sooner. I'm sure she'll get it, although she may still ask just in case you can work magic for her. 😁
@@BilliSpeaks would a compound word later-day work. Billi understands compounds like catnip water
@@BilliSpeaks If you can teach her "yesterday", "today", and "tomorrow", then you can say "tomorrow tomorrow tomorrow" for 3 days, or if she learns numbers just say "3 tomorrows" while holding up 3 fingers. To teach her, pick a special activity, like taking a walk in the park or going to the vet, and start with "tomorrow we're going to...", then the next day "today we're going to...", then the next day "we went to...yesterday" She may already have an idea what they mean just from listening to verbal speech all her life. (Sorry if you've already moved beyond "later later later"... I'm over a month behind here, always trying to catch up, yet always falling further behind, ugh..... :P )
Definitely looks like she's getting it. I love it!
